Just watched your video to replace both my drive belts great video btw on my TB30R I am having a issue after belt replacement will not move no forward or reverse drive gear no matter what gear 1-6 any idea what the problem could be? Any advice would be appreciated thank you.
@@mikebravo1561 Thanks for watching and glad you found the video helpful! It sounds like the issue could be related to the belt installation. I’d suggest double-checking a few things: Make sure the belts are the correct length for your TB30R model-sometimes small differences in belt size can cause drive issues. Verify that both belts are installed in the correct locations. If they’re swapped or misaligned, the mower won’t move as expected. Check the tension and make sure the belts are properly engaged with the pulleys. Make sure all springs are in place and didn’t come off when the mower was first started. If everything looks good and it’s still not moving, the issue might be with the transmission linkage or pulleys. Hope that helps!
I am looking over everything right now all springs and everything or in place My middle pulley has a guide. Does the belt go behind that or in the guide?
I followed your directions to the tee...Perfect. I changed all the belts with OEM Belts and tuned it up at the same time. But It is not as fast in 6th gear as it was at one time. Brake not dragging it. I tested that. All linkage is tight. And throttle sounds as it always has. Is there a SPEED adjustment? In the past I only used 6 speed on second pass on my lawn. Now I only cut in 6 speed all the time. You say its a 7 speed mower but there is only 6 speeds on my TB30R. P 123456 NO #7. i would really appreciate any advice on increasing the speed adjustment.
It’s possible the belt isn’t pulling all the way down into the variable drive pulley. It’s probably from wear and usage. I don’t recall there being any adjustments to make it tighter.
@@baldeagle242 So the speed is the speed? Could something be bent or a spring issue. Or a speed shifter adjustment, That linkage is tight though. The brake linkage is sloppy though. Only held on both ends by a cotter pins.
@anthonymone9218 it’s really tuff to say without looking at it. In a nutshell, if the main long belt isn’t pulley fully down into the variable pulley and/or the small belt isn’t moving all the way out to the edge of the variable drive pulley your top speed will be limited. There are many reasons why this can happen.
@@baldeagle242 Thanks Steve for all your time with me. My local good mower repair only does commercial machines so tough to get advice here in Tampa Bay. When you say main long belt, do you mean the deck belt? Only thing i notice is from the top. The drive belt small blk pulley connected to the arm, in 6th gear is as close as can go to the variable speed pulley (about 1 ")Actually you can't push it any closer than it is even with your hand. And all my pulley's are free and ease of movement. So I am thinking it must be something else that slowed up the machine. If it wasn't in such good condition i would give up on it. It used to POP the front wheels when you released the brake/clutch. And go like an ATV. Now lucky if it goes 4 mph. And i replaced everything. Motor still sounds the same though..ODD.
I agree. I experimented with standard belts on these years ago and never found one that was a good replacement. The OEM belts are much more ridged and about half as deep as a traditional V-belt.

MY PROBLEM is the clutch sticks. When I let out the clutch there is nothing there I have to let it out & out & out & out then BAM it suddenly engages like I just popped the clutch pedal. But I did not, I let it out r e a l slowly. So strange. Curiously, when the deck is engaged the clutch works PERFECTLY. Clutch pedal engages low, just like god intended. So strange. !

They sell riding mower jacks. They lift the front wheels off the ground
so you can pull the blades & clean the underdeck. Mine says Club Cadet.

Troybuilt mowers with the varidrive I have learned really only work with oem belts

Again with crank pulley , I apply anti seize prior to re installing
Do you know what kind of bolts or screws hold plastic cover under seat
I recommend coating both axles with anti seize
I agree. I don’t currently have any anti-seize but I did coat the one I pulled off with a little assembly lube to help the next guy out.
Yard machine makes a version of that mower
@@RepairGang They are all rebranded MTD mowers.

There are 7 different flavors of this mower HOWEVER they are ALL built
by MTD. Curiously, MTD does not sell this mower under their name.

Looks like a really crappy design for a mower.
