- Built, owned and driven by Andy Duffin of Triple Rotor Racing this monstruous Mazda RX-7 is primarily a Time Attack machine, powered by a Naturally Aspirated 20b (Triple Rotor) Engine producing 520Hp/10.000Rpm and sporting an incredibly modified bodykit built by Kinetic Simulation primarily for WTAC ( World Time Attack Challenge).
On the last edition of Leadfoot Festival it was possible to see ( and hear... ) this beast up Rod Millen´s driveway as it went on to be the fastest Two Wheel Drive car on the event with an impressive 51 seconds and 8 thenths crono.

This sounds exactly like when you try to recreate car noises with your mouth when its idling
HAHA I was listening to it's idle right at the start of the video. Thinking "Naahhh sounds super real" Then it started to rev and I lost my shit. It sounds exactly like someones mouth making the noises.

Back in 1999, me very best friend caught the oppotunity to buy a 1987 Mazda RX-7 Turbo. He paid 2000 $ for the car because the original owner tought that the engine and the turbo we're worned out.
When we brought the car back in my mom's garage, we took a closer look at it and we realized that only the exhaust manifold was cracked and that's why the turbo wasn't able to build pressure etc.
We replaced it with a brand new one and we took the car for one of the best run of our entire life.
Afterward, the car was completely modified from head to toes for the next 2 years of part time hard work and believe me, it was a very fun car to drive !

The combination of the sequential gearbox with straight cut gears and the amazing sound of the 20b engine makes this in my opinion, one of the best sounding rx7's out there.

@@Lead_Foot Perhaps, we will never know......I'll keep it with my state, that he would have been joyful, because people made a beauty out of his so called 'Kreis Kolbenmotor'.
To me it's the Yamamoto engine, since it was an adaptation of the design idea of Felix Wankel, and he was the one who actually wanted it made and oversaw much of the development of the motor.
So really, Yamamoto should be credited. And not the Nazi. But then again, only a psycho would make something like this.
And it's friggin amazing. Since it's partly German, no wonder it's inherently not as reliable as it could be.

As opposed to numberless moving parts in regular piston engine.
Its very obviously superior desing, which evolution proccess and developement possibilites were subdued because of the pursuit for mediocricity instead of excelence.
Drazen Budis 3 moving parts for a 2 rotor (ie the rotors plus the e-shaft) and 4 for this one since it’s a 3 rotor 😁
@@drazenbudis7881 Superior? While I personally believe that it is cause I am a rotary fan I must admit that is debatable depending on the criteria applied when considering something superior. It is however much more simplistic which has its advantages making it superior in some ways for sure. But anyway I'm not really sure what context your comment was trying to convey in response to mine so... I guess I will explain mine just in case. In my comment I was agreeing with Rapunzel and pointing out that they added the smog pump and made a ton of changes (for example side port exhaust in the renesis motors) to get past the EPA requirement that there can be no misfire above a specified threshold at cold idle. Unfortunately though EPA became even more strict and given the low sales of the RX-8 at the time it meant the discontinuation of rotary engine cars.
Any future rotaries would likely need larger displacement to make any descent power as the required modifications to the engine to pass current EPA regulations would dramatically reduce power output even further. Also they would likely be hybrids as fuel economy is further reduced in order to meet EPA emissions regulations. (Can't comment on RoW emissions regulations as I don't know what applies outside the USA.)

One of the reasons why your content is so satisfying to watch is quality of the drivers.Only other channels for which i can say that are HillclimbFans and TNT Video which,along with you,conclude best channels related to hillclimb racing.
As for the car and driver in this clip,another great dynamic duo.Driver sure is aggressive and fast,just the way i like and everything about RX7 screams awesome.She's not just fast and amazingly sounding but also very beautiful.Easily one of the most beautiful cars on this channel.

a great car with a great driver behind the wheel on what looks to be a really tight technical course, springs must be really soft and the body of the car seems to allow for a bit of roll to take on those quick elevation changes on so smoothly

Fun fact: The rotors spin at 1/3 the speed of the rotor shaft, so 10K RPM means the rotors are only at 3K RPM
@Bino White Because the rotors are connected to the shaft by a reduction gearing system. The rotor has more teeth than the shaft so the shaft has to spin faster than the rotor.
