      I posted my store name before, I'll post my store name just in case: Discover Paradise: Please note that I know my mock ups suck. And I am working on trying to better mock ups. Also My niche is Flower designs. With some sub niche flower types. Edit: I also lack video for my POD store. So I am trying there also.

      When you said 14 sales I thought it was my store for a second lol. But I'm slowly creeping up on 500 items now and I have been open a month. Would love a review, maybe not only what I'm doing wrong but what I might be doing right so I can stop what is harming my store and focus on what I might be doing right. My store is SoulshineDesignBrand, primarily focused on summer, vacation and resort wear using POD drop ship business model. Thanks for all the great videos!

    At first I thought the same-oh no, either necklaces or the pictures, BUT then I noticed that every item is made using "fused glass", and then there was a tealight as well made of fused glass, so I think her niche could be fused glass handmade items/gifts/ home decor-I would just point it out the fused glass gifts etc.- on the banner, announcement, about section, even the shop's name... I think it could be a niche for her, but I would create more types of fused glass items, for sure

    • @KatieKirkLoves

      I agree! Fused Glass gifts is a lovely niche if she highlighted in her banner/announcement/about that this was her speciality. Really unique!

      Yes, I addressed this in someone else's comment, the idea has merit, but the gap to get the store there is too large, based on what is in the store currently.
      I could do this work with them in a consultation, but for the video, I gave the easier, actionable steps to help get the store moving and then hopefully the main stumbling block (product quality), will get ironed out.

      He did say in another video (I forget which) that no, you should not. But if you do run a sale for a holiday or something make it a bit long. Like at least a week or 2 he said if I recall because Etsy isn’t the best at sending the sale notifications for people who favorite etc. so it gives them time to order. This is opposite what everyone else says. They say sales increases your quality score and you should run sales for only 24 hours and run them daily.

    Thank you for giving me your opinions on my Etsy shop, Nick and all. I have taken on board all comments and added, banner etc. I have added sections to the shop and after removing all of the pendants I now intend to reactivate them in their own section as I believe that, as they are all fused glass, they belong together in the same shop. I must admit that I am hurt by the comments on the poor quality of my items. It’s taken me this long to be able to respond to this. I don’t understand why people can be so hurtful. These are handmade items that take a lot of thought and love to produce.

    I disagree with the assessment that she needs to remove "By Carol's Artistry" from her title because "nobody knows who that is and nobody searching for it" as a blanket consideration for everyone to take in. While I do think Nik is right in this case - as evidenced by the fact that she isn't getting sales - I actually have my name as a tag as well as incorporated in the title of my listings because, I'm known for what I do outside of Etsy - I've built a brand. Some people familiar with what I offer, don't necessarily remember the name of my Etsy shop and so they'll come to the platform wanting to purchase from me, so what they'll do is type in my name and the product that I sell. And that helps them find me in search. I found this out from studying the search analytics that Etsy provides as well as seeing what key words are leading people to my individual items.

      @@etsyconsultant But that should be in her about page, right. If she puts in her about page who Carol artistry is and what they're about it doesn't really need to be in the individual items right because it's in the about page and doesn't that also pull people in or I'm not really sure how the about page works but sometimes people are curious on what you're about so.

  • @happybunny1329

    Fused glass is the connecting theme. Carole's work is fantastic, she really deserves to get noticed. The shop name "CarolesArtistry" would benefit by being changed to something like "FusedGlassbyCarole". This would make the focus of the shop explicit to any prospective customer, which will be really critical for sales. The current name is too unspecific and grammatically incorrect (it's missing the apostrophe in Carole's)... neither of these things gives a good impression to a prospective customer, and it appears unprofessional and would prompt me to look elsewhere. Combine new shop name with improved photos and SEO, and this shop will be flying. :)

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. I sat and thought about it for a while, and there is merit in your line of thinking. However the issue is centered around the quality of products currently being offered.
      If the store were to sell to Etsy's gift mode, and have a wholesale upgrade, and start to sell gift sets, themes and bundles, it is possible.
      However, with what I was presented with, the gap is far too wide, and it would be better to develop one area and go from there.
      Good comment though, thank you.

    Beautiful dichro work Carole!
    Nik, I'm back into confusion around your niche definitions again. Are there no sucessful stores that sell a range of items including Carole's along a unifying theme such as wood, metal etc?
    Also, could you estimate how many jewellery shops you've worked with that have seen noticeable increases in performance after changing to photographing their pieces on a model? My gut says buyers could be worried about hygiene & prior wear & that most would check review photos to see the jewellery being worn but I'm more than happy to be proved wrong (& make the necessary changes) if you've got the data that demonstrates this change increases views & conversion rates?
    Appreiate your insights :)

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Hannah, yes there are, you can succeed in many different ways, either tight into one niche and subniche set, or multiple niches and sub niches, my point in all this, is that based on 10 years of working on thousands of stores, single niche stores with sub niches tend to perform better and make sales faster.
      In terms of model shots, I have built a lot of jewelry stores, and I can tell you buyers don't care about model shots and hygiene, they assume they will be getting a new piece of jewelry unworn. I have never seen a single message in the hundreds of jewelry stores I have worked on where someone asked this question.
      I am not saying people don't ask, but I can say with confidence it is nothing to worry about.
      To answer your model shots views and conversion rates, you will have to take my word for it, I have been doing this for 10 years, and have come across jewelry stores in all sorts of disrepair, and the first thing I do is improve the photography and video, traffic goes up, and IF the jewelry is in demand, so does the conversion rate.
      Phew! Thanks Hannah!

      there is a clear relation here - they are all made of fused glass- I would go for fused glass only items as her niche, and then the different types of products would be fine, in my opinion, as long as they are made of fused glass

      Yes, this is indeed possible, the issue is product quality.

      Yes it can work, it depends on what you are selling, and competition.

    I don’t see what the issue is with having the art and the fused glass jewelry in one shop ? If the Etsy “ algorithm “ doesn’t understand it then the issue is with Etsy surely. The first thing I see as a customers point of view is in all honesty ( and I don’t mean to sound rude ) i just don’t see anything appealing. This seller should be looking at what’s in fashion at the moment. By that I mean style, colour etc. Make what sellers want to buy.

    • @etsyconsultant
      @etsyconsultant  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Susan, the store has two totally separate niches going on, and on top of that I do agree the quality needs work. Having two niche areas weakens store profile/identity and the Etsy algorithm thrives on knowing what a shop is all about, especially when it comes to surfacing products in partial search or non search areas of the site (Gift Mode).
