  • We’ve seen all the chatter on the Facebook group “Y62 Patrol Modified Action”, now it’s time to see these beasts on the tracks. A group of us hit the sand at Beachport and got into a bit of mischief.

    Turbo and engine management technology has come such a long way in very recent years.
    Large capacity engines like this that have no problem spoiling even a very large turbo make soo much more usable power and torque than their supercharged counterparts.
    You really can have the best of both worlds with modern turbocharging. From electronic waste gates, to co2 boost control and anti lag, several boost levels possible at the flick of a switch or turn of a knob turbocharging is simply superior in nearly every regard that it massively outweighs the initial complexity of instal.

    Love the turbo flutter and sound it’s awesome as what a rig build. Now I don’t know which way to go when I build my y62 think the turbo is a awesome set up but the blower would be more direct no lag.
    What are the dyno results for the turbo?
    Is there a way to beef up the drive shafts in the y62 seems like the weak link when adding power and bigger wheels

    • @chichotwojay740
      @chichotwojay740 3 года назад +2

      Super chargers make linear boost. The fraction of lag is made up when you can sit on wastegate pressure for several thousand rpm before the supercharged engine reaches its max boost pressure.
      It’s the space under the curve on the graph, and the turbo engine will bring in a wall of power and torque and then hold it till redline
