- Professional driver Ryan Tuerck tests out the new mods on his Retaks/Maxxis Tire Scion 2JZ FR-S on a dream road in the scenic Northwest. With a new Garrett GT 4088 turbo tuned to 830HP, Ryan is feeling this new set up on the way up, the real test comes when fellow Formula Drift driver Rob Primo joins him in a tandem drift back down. Well, Ken Block is a rally driver, not a drifter
FORDboy357 I wouldn't go that far to call him a rally driver. Making scripted videos and being in the last position in some local US championships is not something to be proud of.
Apart from 2010, he got no lower than 4th overall in all the Rally America championships he was in.

There's a reason why I think this is better than Ken Block's Gymkhana;
Block's videos, while absolutely stunning and far more challenging than this, are unrealistic. From weirdly set courses to camera tricks and silly gimmicks, it's not real seeming.
This however, is what Drifting is. A man, a car, and a sweeping set of corners. It's fluid, feels like it's supposed to. This is a dream, and a believable one.

Just in case people were interested, this is Maryhill Loops Rd in Goldendale, WA. Look it up on google maps. It's been featured on MANY commercials, youtube vids and is a hot location for autocross and hillclimb groups. Unfortunately it's a closed road because it's a historical location, limited access for motorsports.

-what kind of tires do drifters use? are those normal tires?
-wouldn't a normally aspirated engine be quicker to rev when drifting? I mean the big turbos take some time to spool up

Yes, that is Maryhill Loops. It's a private road, so no need to worry if people find out.

This is the same location that was used in "Motorcycle vs. Car Drift Battle 2." Very cool looking place
