ssx3 was ahead of it's time.
seamless loading, open world, and 60 fps in 2004
SSX 3 did not run in 60 fps, it ran at 30 and if I am not mistaken some frame dips in Metro City.
Except for that, the seamless loading is really fucking cool for it's time. The ability to ride from the top of the mountain to the bottom is awesome.
Oh boy, yeah that ability to ride from top to bottom was the best, I had a competition between me and my friends where we would time how fast we could race it, start at the top and don't stop till you hit the end of metro city, man that's a good memory.
TheNekOz it was amazing.. we had an xbox at our school in our class and because i had the ps2 version of ssx tricky so i knew the controls and spme of the characters already (i usually played Kaori i believe ) and being the only girl in my class everyone else in my class was like imma beat you.. then i beat them over and over and they usually just would rage 😂 love it

@@Ozzianman Actually it was 60fps on the original xbox that did suffer from frame drops. the re-release on xbone is a solid 60fps you can find a comparison video somewhere on youtube

this game was really fun especially when you tried to get the outfits and boards for EVERY character. probably means EA won’t remaster this without a lot of microtransactions/loot boxes

Honestly I feel like the series would have a longer stay if they leaned into the wacky side that tricky introduced. more out there and creative levels would have let the series not only stand out but prevent things from getting stale.

In SSX 3 there is concept art of stages that didn't make it to the game and what you're talking about is exactly what was the game was going to have. I remember one taking place in some sort of theme park and this would've been so cool if they kept this idea. I really they flushed out big mountain more honestly.

I seriously love this game and played it to death on my GameCube, i still have the game and am damn proud of it. Back in the years my mother started to know the game from the main menu sound Welcome to SSX Tricky, after awhile she asked me “are you still playing that Tricky game?”. Also the basedrop from the intro turned to 11, years later I still love it. And the soundtrack never ever left my mind. Thanks for the great video, this game needs more love. And the closest we can get to good SSX now is the remaster download game of SSX3 on Xbox, it feels great to run the entire mountain in freeroam. But Tricky will always be the one above all!

3 was definitely the best. Smoother controls, better character customization, more to do, more tracks, free ride exploration. 3 was the last one that had the characters have personalities

@@felipeloera5968 Well the game is backwards compatible on the Xbox One and upscales it beautifully on modern TVs, even up to 4K on the Xbox One X.
I’m watching the snowboarding 2022 Winter Olympics competition and it’s made me nostalgic for this game. I can’t help but yell “IT’S TRICKY!” at the screen after someone lands a complicated looking jump.
I love ALL the SSX games.
My mum was diagnosed with cancer, so a couple of months before she died my dad bought her a PlayStation 2 and some SSX games in 2012. I still play these games 7 years after her death. Sometimes I even go into her game file to see how far she went.
I might not be a Fortnite lover or have an Xbox/PlayStation 4/Nintendo, but I prefer the SSX games, they're simple and fun!

This game was an essential part of my childhood, this and when SSX: On Tour became a thing.
Yeah, PS2 and PS3 games WERE my childhood, and I’m sad games like it no longer exist.
I friggin' love this game! My brother and I spent many after school hours and Sunday afternoons challenging each other in score competitions. Such a fun game.
SSX wasn't the first videogame I ever played but it was definatly one of the first ones I obsessed over and played non stop. I'll never forget how much fun I had with my best friend playing that game and its sequels.

Until SSX 3 came out on the GameCube I basically played SSX Tricky repeatedly on this demo disc for the ps2. I couldn’t have been older than 6 or 7, but those demos along with ATV Off-road Fury, Jak And Daxter, and Onimusha were the highlights of my childhood. Seeing that clip of ATV at the beginning brought me to another dimension. Thank you for that.

This game was a good amount of time spent while in the Marines. Managed to 100% the race mode tracks to unlock the "Untracked" stage, introducing me to Hybrid's "Finished Symphony" and sending me down a whole other musical rabbit hole in my 20s.
Psymon was also my favorite character simply for the fact he's batshit insane, had one of the cooler Uber tricks, and since he was the only character that had no allies, made shoving people around in race mode pretty much an expectation.

GOD I LOVE THIS GAME. i prob loved SSX 3 the most because i feel like it properly improved on a lot of things from SSX Tricky, but Tricky was my first snowboarding game, and i remember it would always come with us on family vacations to play during downtime and such. such good memories

I remember playing the demo for Tricky on one of the JamPack discs. My Uncle saw me playing it one time and was like: "Hey man, that game looks pretty sick! What is it?" and I was like "Oh it's a demo for SSX Tricky, it's not out yet!", mind you I was like 7 at the time. Anyways, when the game released, he got it day one for his PS2, and he would let me play it whenever me and my mother would go to his house. Me and my cousins would have a blast with it. Now I'm 27, and my uncle still remembers getting this game and everyone playing it at his house. Good ol' memories.

Tricky never gets old. I still enjoy this game as much as I did when I got it in 2002. It is just so over the top and silly, and yes - that soundtrack!
SSX 3 was my favorite game in the series, but goddamn, was Tricky absolutely amazing! I, too, was addicted to the game as a kid, and for a while, there was nothing better than sitting in front of the TV after school and boarding down some slopes.

Can we also talk about how much of a game-changer tricky was in terms of getting famous voice actors to work for video games? This really wasn’t a thing before SSX and in getting people like David Arquette and LUCY LIU to voice characters in a game as campy and crazy like this is part of what made it such an influential game.
My family and I still play this game, my dad and sister created their own meta on Garabaldi for most style points

Ssx tricky has a surprisingly robust speedrunning scene. I never played it but learned about it due to speedrun progression. 2 brothers were pretty much the Kings of the game.
I'm 16 and remember playing this when I was about 7. Also STEEP is a good game.
I really wish that EA would be bring back the EA BIG line up, some of those games were so good.

I played this game so much as a kid that I probably completed every single possible thing the game had to offer. I also remember demolishing my dad by pushing him over at the start of every race. This game was my childhood and I’ll always love it.
Okay this was my first game. Deep love for Tricky. None of the other SSX games got the feel and character of Tricky nailed down. SSX 2012 was actually a banger too but Tricky is rent free #5 favorite game of all tome
I was always aware of the series but I never actually picked it up until SSX (2012) so it's always a bit weird going back to play the classics. Although I do understand people's nostalgia, and it also gives me a warm feeling of how games were back in the day even though I didn't grow up playing Tricky.
This is a great way to start off your gaming career.

I am 45 and started gaming in early 80s on the 2600. Bought this game for my boy on his gamecube and didnt turn on my playstation for months. Spent all my free time split screenng with my son in his game room. Now my boy is 25 with a family of his own. We still talk about this game from time to time. An online remaster would be awesome. I would love to spend my free time playing tricky with my boy and his boy.

One of my bros introduced me to this...Idk, 20 years ago I guess, and it has haunted me ever since. When I claimed total ownership over the family's beloved Wii, I got myself SSX Blur and was regretfully underwhelmed by the gameplay after being part of the series of sick moves that was Tricky. I miss it.
