Yikes! I put the reverse FOV calculation in! Should be 50/1.33=37.6mm. Sorry about that! Did this late at night and reversed things without even thinking about it.
Hi Caleb, I am just wondering, are you planning to release the Fx3 Video Guide anytime soon? The reason I am asking is, I own FX3 but I can find a video guide for FX3 on your academy website. So I am considering getting the FX30 Video Guide to learn tech staff for my FX3. What do you reckon?
Great video, Caleb! Very cool demonstration of ways to give a clean lens more character. One small thing, you did your anamorphic math backwards. Divide for horizontal fov, not multiply. 50mm / 1.33 ≈ 38mm The image gets wider, not narrower.
I’m waiting for a set of Athenas to come through for my full frame BMCC, and I agree with your philosophy. Either in the build or in post, filmmakers have thousands of ways to dirty up a look if needed, but for a lot of commercial work, it’s nice to have a clean base on hand as the default. Hopefully before Thanksgiving for the NiSi set. Fingers crossed.
Hey Caleb!-- Here's your next video title: "Finally, a Box-Style BMPCC 4K?!" The Blackmagic Micro Studio G2 looks like it's very close to being the box-style BMPCC 4K that the world's been waiting for. We would LOVE to see one of your tiny camera rig videos using the Black Magic Micro Studio G2. What we want to know about the G2: 1. Color science & low-light comparison with other BM cameras 2. Recording options 3. How to rig it out for run-n-gun Thanks for reading (if you did) Thanks in advance for making the video (if you do) ♥
I love the streak filter! Is that what feature films use for more dramatic light flares? I'm sure you've addressed this question in other videos, but what is your full-time job? Just curious!
You can emulate a lot of these filters in post too, with the right tools or knowledge, which is convenient because you would then be able to get a very consistent, adjustable look without having to deal with certain filter effects being magnified when you switch to longer focal lengths.
Caleb, I really appreciate your open approach to modular indie cinematography Everything looks so adaptable from the cine back to the matte box. Would you be keen to trying this setup withmore budget lenses like the 7Artisans lens?
Man. Long time viewer here and first of all, you look younger than ever. Where's the fountain of youth? Second, you should have a 3D printing channel. Obviously you're absolutely killing it w the 3d modeling and printing skills which, imo, are two completely separate disciplines.
I feel like the streak filter would compete with the anamorphic flares generated by the Moment 1.33x adapter ( which produces some nice amber flares on its own that are more controllable ). I have owned the Moment 1.33x which was great and produced oval bokeh closer to a 1.5x IMO. The biggest drawback to the moment adapter was the lack of focus gearing. I also have owned the Aivascope which is geared already and is available in 1.5x and 1.75x and is very sharp. I think it would be a killer combo with those Athena's. If there is a budget for the Aivascope i'd choose that over the Moment. Those Athena's are absolutley fantastic.
Everyone thinks Caleb’s rigs are great because of his custom accessories. While those definitely help, you can buy them and replicate it yourself. Know what you can’t buy? His collection of discontinued smallrig parts that I desperately wish I had purchased while they were available!
Hi ! I'm 2:30 into the video and I don't understand how the horizontal field of view, which is getting wider by the anamorphic adapter, has a higher focal length ? Shouldn't it be the opposite ? Shouldn't it be 50/1.33 instead of 50x1.33 ? Maybe I'm getting something wrong here !
Hi, super awesome combo! I'm so sorry to bother you, can you share the 3D sample of the 4x4 to round filter? do its for 77mm thread or 82mm ? thanks for this kind of content
Hi. I bought a Comica VM30 microphone, but please tell me, isn't it a stereo microphone? how do you record stereo sound on a camera. There are two microphones on the camera, but not here? There is also a smiley face 20, it is stereo in the description, but I did not see the difference.
Nope! Its just a mono mic, meaning it records one track total. When you edit your video just make sure the audio track you're using is also a mono track and the sound will come out from both Left and Right speakers... This is usually more than enough but, if you truly want stereo sound, look into the Tascam TM-2X which is an actual stereo microphone.
Why are creators holding their lapel mics now? Y’all know it clips to your shirt, you talk about it in your reviews of those same mics. The TikTokification of content boggles the mind.
kinda hard to believe you do a whole video about nisi products for just getting the kit worth a few hundret... with few to none mentions of cheaper alternatives to achieve the same look. and "custom lenses" for real? Really like this channel usually but this one is a skip...
Caleb... Great video as always. Im just not getting the appeal of these new RODE style mics. It just looks SUPER TACKY when youre holding or clipping a BOX vs micing up with a LAV. Are we just getting LAZY or what? Might as well go back to a SHURE SM57 on CSTAND. 🤦🏼♂

😅
also. Moment* not motion
I saw that and thought it looked wrong, but then I did the math and got the same answer so I just accepted it. 😂
@@vilacron I'm a mess in this one!

I’m a huge fan of Nisi these lens are incredible and their swift system is my go to.
Great video, Caleb! Very cool demonstration of ways to give a clean lens more character.

Yep... Totally reversed the equation in my head. So silly!
Clean lenses are the best for versatility! This contraption is hilarious, but I love it. Can’t wait to save up for the Athena primes eventually

4:48 Stourhead 😂 didn't expect that!

Ha! Thank you! Amazing what happens when you eat good food and stop snacking/drinking as much and such!
Can't wait for you to get your hands on the a9III
Great indie kit set up.

Horizontal field of view would be: 50 divided by 1.33 so 37mm horizontal FOV. I love that gain 😅
When will the cineback be in stock?

No this calculation and math is a whoopsie mistake. It’s 50/1.33 giving us a 38mm horizontal field of view.
You're def correct. A higher focal length wouldn't make sense
Yep... Totally reversed the equation in my head. Big whoops!
Low key that bag was sweet
Hi there what I the single Sony lens will recommend for video thank you.
@dslrvideoshooter what is the tripod and quick release plates you are using here?
Nice review...about Nici Swift they have one of the best IR cut filter on the market good for P6K pro caméras...
Great video Caleb! Thanks for sharing. Would a Tilta Mirage Matte Box work with the NISI lens set?
I just wanna know where u got those patches u put on the smallrig vmount
what the brand and model of the top handle on this camera? thanks
Hello Caleb! What pl adapter are you using?
Will there be a batch 4 for the cine back

Where can I see the video s u make?
I think you might have not desqueezed the footage correctly. You're looking a little thin, if you know what I mean? ;)
Did you say motion instead of moment???
can u create screw on filter filter tray for tilta mirage? Ill Pay
MOMENT. Not Motion. ;) Great video as always!
Your a professional videographer, why aren't you running a lav wire?
Cool ❤
That streak filter would be an absolute nightmare to grade burned in. Hard pass.
Looks Like Alexa 🔥😂
You said "motion" or "notion" adaper and its moment
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
I am here before anyone else comes here 🤫
This is insane lol
