    Had one of these for 17yrs now, its got 300k on it and its my daily, its towed my 2.7 tonne caravan around Australia and two separate trips to each of the Kimberley, Gulf and WA and it still shits all over most of the more modern 4wds with their pissy 4 cyl turbos and keeps up with the more modern V6 diesels. Quadra drive two is amazing tech. I also have a high dollar fully built troopy with close to 200K sunk into it and a twin turbo sporty but the jeep is the vehicle I prefer to daily. It costs nothing to run and while I use my troopy for Outback touring and the really rough stuff and my sporty for track days and business trips, my jeep is my go to daily.

    Had mine less than a week and already love it, it looks smart enough to go to work in through the week but is capable enough for the weekend.
    I live in the UK, I envy you for your outback, I'd love to have that expanse to be able to play in.

    I just took mine on a little road trip, only about 150-200kms, and I managed to get the average fuel economy to below 10l/100km, amazing!

    Just found your video, quadra drive 2 is amazing. Ive got the brother jeep Commander which shares same chasis and mechanics. Beautifull ride everywhere you go. Cheap to run and maintain, spare parts are not expensive if you buy from the US. I will have a look at your channel I hope u have more videos of your Cherokee.

    Awesome video. I have an 09 WK Overland With all the bells and whistles it came with for that year. I love watching how you take it stock through its paces. Just a right out the box, how will it do review. Mine has the Hemi and with QDII it really does feel unstoppable. I didn't know that the WK2 didn't have the same setup with the front diff. I had been told that mine is the most desired year for the Grand Cherokee as it had reached the best combination of on and off road capabilities and stolen all it could from Mercedes. The new ones seem to get lost in the mix of crossovers because everyone makes a Jeep shape...or is it the other way around? Plus the new ones got rid of two of the best things in the GC, the rear opening lift glass, which has always been something I love. The other is the hand operated parking brake. Nothing better than taking a snow covered corner by giving it a little pull and drifting like you're in a rally car.

    Nice video. I can see that its old. I am wondering how its held up over the years? Do you still have it? I recently got the hemi version with a rebuilt engine. So my new Jeep just got a new lease on life. It still looks great after 18 years. It must have been stored in a garage. 158,000 miles when I got it. Now it has 160k since I figured out the limp mode problem.

    99% of GC owners never know how capable they are. BTW, imho the new Ecodiesels and ZF 8 speeds are a big upgrade. I have a Ram Ecodiesel, also awesome.

  • @happychappy8326
    @happychappy8326 7 месяцев назад

    I have an 08 Jeep GD CRD. Never had a single problem over the 4 years I've owned it, that wasn't expected wear and tear. I'm thinking of upgrading the vehicle, but really struggling to find something better. I love my GC WH and enjoy driving it. Always feels nice. Have considered the newer WK2, but feel like its a gamble with those, because of engine issues. Many of the WK2 I hear run lke a dream for ever, while others detonate prematurely. For the money and even above, you can't find a 4WD SUV come close to the features and specs. That goes for the newer (WK/WK2)Jeep GC's too. But they do have some reliability issues with the engines. Seriously, compare. Pajeros, Prados and Landcruisers of that era did not come with reverse cameras, rain sensing wind screen wipers etc. Engines in the above are very under powered and still use more fuel than the GC. Towing capacity is not even close. Also considered the Landrover Discovery, but have heard bad things about expenses to maintain them and reliability.

    Excellent video!! Im on the hunt for a Grand Cherokee now. I had a 2000 with the 3,1 liter diesel before and i loved that car. The Quadra drive system is in my opinion one of the best (and few) true 4wd systems. Which years of the WK have the QD system (3.0 CRD)? Does some models have air suspension?
    Best regards, Jimmy.

    • @bullet2monkey
      @bullet2monkey 2 года назад +1

      The QD system system was available on all years, but only on the higher trims for the most part! Easiest way to tell is by the plaque on the center console under the shifter, or counting the rear diff bolts. 10 v 12 I think, 12 means QD2. Happy hunting!

    Great video. I'm on the lookout for a Jeep Grand Cherokee for a long time now and this seems to be a good model. I'm a bit concerned about the ground clearance though? Also costs of servicing and parts. Are they moderate here in Australia?

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  8 лет назад +5

      This is a great model Jeep Grand Cherokee. Servicing, like any other vehicle, is cheap if you do it yourself, putting the best stuff in it. Parts are easy to get from the US dealers for OEM and auto stores for generic parts, quicker to get and cheaper than here. In terms of clearance, you'd need minimum 2" lift and 31" tyres to get anywhere, and by adding rock sliders, you'd reach a lot of places. If you go this way, make sure you get the Quadradrive 2 model. This is the last of the front and rear locking diffs models. Thank you for watching (and commenting).

    Nice video mate. Are the new Grand Cherokees this capable?

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  9 лет назад

      Thanks mate. I would say for this trail, yes. This Grand is getting some major upgrades done to it soon, which can't be done on the new ones, and that's where they will part in terms of capability. They are already less capable due to the independent rear and the lack of ELSD to the front straight out of factory.

      Aussie Four Wheelers (Hemi4WD) I looked at buying the newer one. On road I liked the idea that it slowed down on cruise by itself, I thought nicer interior. For now I'll stick to my '06, the newer ones seem to be going for the upper Landrover market. i.e. no rough stuff.

    WOW. I have a 99 TJ modded a little and this standard makes the 4wding look easier than the Wrangler. I'm on the fence to go CRD or the 4.7 though. The economy on the CRD is swaying me I guess.
    Great video really awesome to see one in action.

    • @AussieFourWheelers
      @AussieFourWheelers  7 лет назад +1

      Why 4.7? Either go CRD or Hemi. No point going 4.7 when the Hemi has heaps more power. CRD's are good economy and faster than the 4.7. But the Hemi rumble is irresistible.

    Should have gotten the Hemi, they are both the same price, get about the same mpg, torque is about the same, but the crd has tons more problems. Mine blew the turbo seals, sucks about a gallon of oil per 500 miles, way too weak for this chassis. Get the hemi if you want a tough machine.
