It's like if my MFX Racer and UMX Conscendo had a baby (that was bigger than them). I'll be getting this one eventually Thanks for another quality review Adam!
Just when i was thinking im sick of being grounded with bad weather, wind, wet grass etc... was thinking of a cheap STOL plane but this looks ideal to grab flights when other planes cant. Hope they bring a 1.4m out too. Thanks for the review 👍🏾
Thorough as always Adam. Loved the flying sequences too! I’m shocked it will pop-top as nicely as it does. I am definitely looking forward to flying it.👍
What is a Rail Band Launcher? I looked it up but couldn't find that. Is it like a high start? Or the old sling shot type launchers for older small EDF's?
Excellent review, as always, Adam! Looked like she was pulling 10+ Gs in the turn during your accelerated stall test! Although I usually don't care for HL jobs unless they're gliders, I think I need one of these! 👍
Thanks Joel! This one is actually as easy to launch as a glider. We did a short showing the Launch Assist in action (with me using it right this time, lol) and man it is so easy! Super Quick too!
I remember the original electro streak so I was surprised to hear that name. Fantastic demo and it seems like that's a solid little rocket ship. Im rarely impressed but this one got my attention. Great job my friend.
That looks like great fun I am wondering about 6s. Until I saw your video I never could understand why people struggled to launch the V 900. I am still flying one from the first production run and never had any trouble. Great video.
Yep the V900 was fine if you throw it hard. I think a lot of people thought it would launch like a powered glider with a gentle toss. That and a high throttle setting will get ya in trouble, lol.
@@ModelAV8RChannel I always thought it was a fairly heavily loaded airframe so I gave It a little over half throttle and I threw it hard with no safe. The Rare Bear is the hard one to launch, no good handle . It is great fun on 6s.
Love that Elway reference almost as much as that stiff airframe and new super dense EPO Eflite uses on this plane. 😊 Hope this is something we see more of in new releases. A "Night" version of the ElectroStreak would be pretty cool, too. Go Broncos! ... you know, next season and all 😢 👍
Al when I said that it was just what came to mind...then I thought to myself "Al is gonna like that". Then I promptly forgot what to say next and had to shoot that scene about six times to get it all right! Lol! Bronco's are going to be hell next year. Look out AFC! As for the airplane...awesome.
To me, it is more an update to the venerable classic Durafly EFX Race than the V900. No! Wait, it's a crossover between the EFX Racer and the Durafly Excalibur warmliner. I run my EFX Racer on 4S 2200mah with a 7" Tri-Blade quadcopter prop for max thrust and durability. Never had a mis-launch with the EFX Racer as it is so stable, but it will also pull unlimited vertical straight up from the hand. Good work as usual Adam with plenty of detail.
Can you tell me which 3 blade prop you use on the EFX. I trashed my first EFX doing low level hot passes down the runway...Oops forgot to pull up before hitting the tall weeds at the end of the runway. New version just arrived.😁
Looks great , I see HH installed the Conscendo sound in it …..if that’s replacing the v900 ……….i hope they scale it up to replace the v1200 , As always great flying , even thou your wife knows your flying pattern that had to test her skills to keep that bugger in frame …..great job
Yep its a fun one, and it is quieter. I kinda like more scream if you know what I mean, but I get it. It is more efficient than my V900 was. Yes sir...Heidi was working on this one!
Wow… whatta model. Love your release videos & i go to AV8R before any other release presentations. I wonder if it will get here in OZ before winter in May😮 Well done guys😎🇦🇺
Another great video Adam. From my experience with similar airframes setting up spoileron is a lot better/safer for landings than flaperon (mentioned at 17:30). Looks like it flies really well, this may be my next plane since I really enjoy warmliners. Great advice pointing out that you don't need full throttle to launch planes like this. All full throttle does is make things more hectic and stressful. I always try to point out in my motor glider vids that I don't need any throttle or less than 50% depending on the setup.
@ModelAV8RChannel I'd love to let you fly my old E-Flite Rare Bear. It's a beast to launch with a 9x9e on 4 cell, short wingspan and small ailerons make it a real handful, but at least they built a nice handle in the bottom (122mph level on the gps).
Looks like a fun model! I'm dating myself though, when I say I remember the original Great Planes ElectroStreak. Brushed motor, and nicad packs. Yeehaw!
Great review as always! Love the setup screen! Have you done a video on the FMS F-18 64mm in gray? Not the new one but the older one? I couldn't find it but I thought you must have.
That may be why they used a lower KV motor...to keep it and the prop tips more quiet. I get it though...I like hearing the scream, but some land owners letting us make AMA sites on their land don't feel the same way.
A 4s 1800 might also be a great battery. Smaller than a 2200 and has the same Mah capacity rating as the 3s 2200. If worried about a battery slipping forward just put a small Velcro patch on the battery and battery slot floor. My hand launch aircraft all have a flap setting with 10% flaps and about 5% UP elevator plus SAFE on for the launch. I use that on my 3 meter Fox and it works great as long as I remember to toss INTO the wind!
A 4s 1800 will work fine...and the strap would be easier to manage then as well. TBH its not that bad to use it, just easier not to have to. A 1800 4s will stay put either way. Nothing special really needed with this one...just put it in SAFE, 40% throttle, and give it a toss.
Hi, thanks for the reply. Launching the 3-meter Fox by yourself is a chore for me. It's heavy, and I'm 78 years old. I needed a way to guarantee that it would be wings level and climbing immediately, hands off. My beloved Conscendo does not need those settings, but nice to have anyway. The UMX Conscendo? Just turn on Safe and let it go!
Yep, some of the new smaller ones are easy thankfully. I have the 3m Fox...awesome airplane. Big one. Nice thing is you can get away with WOT at launch which helps. I have a throttle to elevator mix set up on a switch with mine. At full throttle it feeds in a tiny bit of up elevator and I flip that off after it gets on step. Its similar to what you're doing with the elevator compensation on your flap setting.
We are using it on every launch. You can audibly hear me flip the switch from SAFE to AS3X+ after the launches. ***Edit: I saw Gary's post. I had it in SAFE, but I didn't realize full throttle was required for the launch assist to work. So I guess the take away is...it REALLY is easy to launch! Lol.
Great review! I have an original AS3X AR631 receiver that I’ve updated to AS3X+, would it now have the launch assist programmed in it that the BNF has? Thinking about getting a PNP version.
Thanks! You have to manually set up SAFE in forward programming. The Spektrum RC youtube channel has a great video on that. Launch assist is programmed at the factory/testing level for each individual type of plane, so no...it isn't in a out of the package RX.
The more features folks ask for...and the easier they expect every aspect of a plane to be...the heavier they get. We the customers as a whole are responsible for that (not necessarily you, but most). Too many moan when a plane doesn't have everything. It is nice when they leave something simple and light...or when they find a way to make them convenient but still light. That is very difficult to do and more expensive as it requires more design and testing hours. The truth is, you can't make the Timber most ask for - with lights, gear that can withstand a crash as a landing, a convenient built in wing tube holder, plastic around the hatch so it doesn't chip the paint, plastic on the wing tips so they don't break, reinforcement throughout to make it strong enough for pilots that crash a lot, and an assembly that takes 5 minutes...and have a Timber as light as a Fun Cub. If they made a Timber with light gear that you actually have to land well on so you don't break it, a lightweight less crash resistant airframe that was less modular with less reinforcement and harder to assemble, no lights, no convenience, etc...you and I might like that, but most would complain about the lack of features and convenience. The features these things come with are a response to complaints and customer wish lists. It is what it is.
@@ModelAV8RChannelTotally agree with you, I have a FunCub NG, after my changes with lighting and with 3s 2200 weighs exactly 1300g. But it's not timber, it's a very good plane but different and has its limitations too. The combination of these two planes, and the weight of 1700g with 4s is the holy grail of STOL planes (lol). I leave aside that probably totally unprofitable for HH, maybe once the molds are completely worn out;)
Fun plane...I actually like the prop the way it is. It has a very soft brake set up...so if you scream down full throttle the chop it to off as you go by it windmills in a way that sounds like a machine gun...its cool!!
It's like if my MFX Racer and UMX Conscendo had a baby (that was bigger than them). I'll be getting this one eventually

Lol. I get it man. The speedsters fly in a bunch of wind and don't care.
Another great review buddy, this bird is crazy fast, but saying that, I loved the way she would glide.
Thanks Chris!
Thorough as always Adam. Loved the flying sequences too! I’m shocked it will pop-top as nicely as it does. I am definitely looking forward to flying it.👍
Thanks Michael, yep it surprised me too with the pop tops and pinwheels. I look forward to seeing you put it through its paces.
This honestly makes me want a fuselage for my v900 even more lol! That bird taught me "throw it like you mean it".
Lol, yep with that one you gotta give it a chuck!
I used my Rail Band launcher for my gliders and EDFs as I was sick of throwing it. So much easier.
What is a Rail Band Launcher? I looked it up but couldn't find that. Is it like a high start? Or the old sling shot type launchers for older small EDF's?
What a little screamer!! Yes looks easier to launch than the V900, great little plane!! Well done Heidi you filmed it first class 😀👍
It's like a cross between the Conscendo and V900 😀👍
It is Ian...and Heidi was on point!

I wish they would have named it the Electro Freak and painted it in Tie Dye colors with a disco ball in the cockpit. That would have been sick! lol

I've actually flown a few of those. Fast as F on 6s with the right prop and esc. Yes...hard one to launch.
V900 was great. I totaled 2 of them! Launched in SAFE mode and usually wouldn't be too scary. This looks like a great replacement.
Yep I enjoyed my V900, but you had to give it a good throw, if you didn't it was really interesting, lol. This is much easier!

I don't think so. Wouldn't balance well with that big a pack anyway.
