While Triple H has done alot of WRONG in his life and being with Steph helped alot but the MAIN REASON why hes wheres hes at is because he was Sober and actually cared about the business. Alot of guys just wanted a check while he saw what the business could be.
"A lot." Two words.
Fair point, thanks for adding your views
"Cared about the business?" No, he cared about himself. If he had cared about the business, he would have elevated people and worked with them. Instead, he destroyed them, happily tanking rantings and the company for his own purpose.
Let's compare and contrast. Steve Austin. Steve Austin certainly politicked a few times, but if you notice, it is always in pushing and helping the company. Like Bret Hart, he understood the importance of elevating those he worked with. He never went into business for himself or sat in booking meetings to torpedo those he saw as threatening his position.
In his time at the top, he pulled Mick Foley out of mid-card hell and put him in the main event scene. This would lead to many ironic moments from the Attitude Era. He famously protected the Rock from Paul and Shawn as they tried sabotaging Rock's push.
Now, I can't fault Paul Levesque for taking the opportunities given to him by Vince McMahon, a complete idiot of a man who only succeeded because everyone else failed.
But I can fault Paul Levesque for what he did with that position. He always looked out for himself. He's like Hulk Hogan - just without the charisma, star power, and actual drawing power.

That doesn’t even make sense. Hbk was more popular and respected his whole career and he was FOOKED UP!
In elementary school, I would always do that bow that HHH would do to piss people off.
Did it work 😂
I bet it worked
I’m so sick of people saying he got where he did by marrying the bosses daughter. He got to where he did because he made the business his life. When everyone else was getting high and drunk he was training and putting in the work. A lot of people immediately credit his rise to power to the whole Stephanie thing. It’s called being dedicated to your craft and climbing the ranks.
Fair point
@ think about this scenario. You’re in a company and just so happen to marry the person that’s related to the owner somehow. You’ve been there for many years and busted your back not only there but companies before that and it’s on public record. Does it mean you “slept” your way to the top?
If PL doesn’t have the heart for the biz Steph n Vince wouldn’t accept PL ~ it goes both ways!
It doesn’t hurt that he’s married to the bosses daughter either
@ it doesn’t hurt but I don’t believe for a second it was his life’s goal to do it. There’s a lot of people who say he did it to get a spot at becoming the next Vince McMahon. As far as putting out a product that everyone enjoys, Vince definitely did outstanding up until about 2010 and people began losing interest. It went back to being somewhat cartoonish especially once programming was for PG audiences. I’m glad that Triple H is running the company now. WWE going to Netflix is probably going to skyrocket the ratings and viewership even more than when we had the Attitude Era.
He's a hard worker who remained sober and took care of the top stars on the Rd like hbk and Scott hall
When they would get to tipsy or twisted
in his early days.
He deserves to be where he is
Exactly lol like dont get me wrong he was wrong in alot of things but at a time where everyone was drugged out he was sober and actually cared about the business
Let's just forget how he did Chyna then?
Incorrect he drinks red wine
Dude was on PEDS 😂
Chyna deserved so much better!!!!
Why?
Where were u when she needed u the most
What did she deserve instead?
Maybe a husband and kids, I definitely think that was something she wanted at one point in her life.

Since that match against Catcus Jack at royal rumble in 2000 I’ve continued to have respect for Triple H and everything he’s done for the business. With him being retired now, Triple H is definitely in my Top 10 as my favorite wrestlers of all time
It changed so many people’s opinions at the time I think, me included. Who is your other top 9?
@@WrestlePod I’m gonna upset some people but Austin, Flair, Hogan, Taker, Shawn, Kurt, Benoit, Eddie, and Cena
@@SportsCleFan IDK how anyone would be mad that's a solid top 10
That’s an excellent selection of real icons and legends
I agree
Cant watch right now, but the truth is the same skills that got him his position are the ones that can actually help the business.
He knows how to network. He knows how to get favors, how to be diplomatic, how to be manipulative, and sometimes be ruthless.
But unlike so many in that business, he does so with long term vision in mind. He plays the long game, pardon the pun.
He remindss me of Vito Corleone from The Godfather. A man who built a power base with patience and favors and the willingness to be ruthless if it served the family.
I like to think his marriage works with him saying "Our marriage was part of my plan to build and consolidate power in the industry and manipulate it behind the scenes."
And her response was "Jokes on you, Im totally into that."
This is a great comment that hits the nail right on the head
Excellent points, so glad you added them! I hope I covered most in the video
this is very Succession coded
K fab was not broken by 3H hugging his friends. John Stossell had already done his report on if wrestling was real, and Vince himself had lobbied every state in the country to deregulate wrestling because it wasn’t a real competitive sport.
So why did the Curtain Call seem like such a big deal at the time?
@@WrestlePod Honestly I'm not sure, if I had to guess it's because all the other cases were outside the ring, and the WWE were hush hush about it. But a bunch of wrestlers in the ring, on camera brazenly breaking K fab, is a little different than like the Iron Shiek getting arrested while driving in a car with his archrival you know?
@@WrestlePod The straw that broke the camel's back.
Good Man, nice upload!
Manipulation is part of the game. The word has a negative effect these days but I dont fault a person for manipulation. If I wanna get to the top I will be working many hours and sacrificing my social life during this period of time. I will need some ppl who are like minded so that I can stay engaged and focused on MY dream. HM. Sounds like College days to me.
I hated villian HHH but then when he formed evolution, I couldnt deny his reign of terror as just pure perfection. He understood the storytelling and it was fully backed up during this time.
And as for them romantic issues - The affair wasnt cool, but this dude was getting beat up by Chyna who was drugged up and roided up at the time. Shes so dope for real though, in spite of her dark side. But imagine having Chyna swinging at you when you know you are twice the size and not on the drug scene. Like, I would be emotionally out the door as well.
The dude is the right man for the job and has an awesome ladder of success to prove it.
This is an interesting and well put take, appreciate it
I can't believe Triple HHH and Edge was in the WCW
Everyone has to start somewhere!
I think a lot of people forget that HHH first ascended to the WWF Title the first time in August 1999, before his angle started with Stephanie
Good point 👍
Imagine Scott Steiner calling you out for a steroids test lmfao
😂😂😂 Holla if you hear me!
Was quick thinking by Steiner though. He's way more intelligent that his dianabol-infused rants suggest
I never have been a HHH fan at all yet I have the utmost respect for him. In my opinion HHH is the ultimate opportunist that was playing Chess and maneuvering himself in to position that when the door of opportunities opened up HHH boldly capitalized on these opportunities big time. Love him or hate him or indifferent towards him , its hard to deny his place in the history of the business
I completely agree with that
Trips is my favorite wrestler and always has been since the early 2000’s. There’s a clip of him early into the corporate era where he started to have a hard time on a spot and steps out of the ring, sits in a chair, and is visibly having heart issues. He dumps a bottle of water on his head and stands back up but has to sit back down once again. This particular clip embodies so many things in my opinion you always see these guys willingly be hurt but seeing him collapse and try his best to come back to and being older, with the shaved head, really really puts things into perspective.
Mans has lived his whole life eating sleeping and breathing WWE
Can you link the clip???
@@jimbeewalley4132 Is that from the WM31 documentary?
@ ruclips.net/video/C7I41DOp97k/видео.htmlsi=x2ytDsM3CpkFetcN he starts having some issues around like 3:20 and further research seems to say he was concussed but still this one always gave me some chills either way you cut it these guys are out here putting their lives on the line literally!
@jimbeewalley4132 He's fine. He's just selling. HHH always does a forward lunge to sell impact moves-particularly strikes and clotheslines. He doesn't go straight down on the first one. Usually it's a sequence of him snapping his neck back, lunge, then a bump down.
Notice he doesn't collapse immediately. A really concussed person would. HHH lunges, comes up, takes a knee, then goes to the chair.
Similarly, D-von Dudley always does the seizure twitch oversell of impact stuff. When he doesn't, he's hurt.
When i was kid and first time saw Triple H, i thought that his actual name is Triple X, but they had to censor it for the TV as H instead of X.
😂😂😂😂 this had me cackling
That's silly
I love kid logic
Don't worry, I'm in my 50s and it only just dawned on me that the little pig that went to market, wasn't doing the family shop. Devastated. 😂
🎉 triple h is wrestling then now forever ♾️
A legend for sure
I wish Chyna had gotten the help she needed. She just went off like a tornado for 15 years after hunter cheated on her. The iconic photo of her pressing ivory above her head at Wrestlemania X-seven is how I prefer to remember her.
Gone far too soon! It’s all so sad
I think it's kind of silly for anyone to say that the Kliq were dirty or had too much influence. The problem was with the company or the industry itself letting certain performers run wild and get their way. That's certainly not to say that treating other wrestlers poorly was right or excusable, I'm simply saying that the world of wrestling allowed that sort of behavior to happen. Also I'm sure no one will agree but HHH was a much better wrestler before he was called Triple H.
Good point
True Vince was just as responsible for enabling bad behaviour and toxic politics but the kliq still deserve some blame as well.
The ultimate game of thrones player of pro wrestling

@@WrestlePod
Facts bro no pun intended ✅
👍
I remember the Terra Ryzin days. I was a fan of him then. I really started paying attention to him when he started the early version of the HHH gimmick in WCW. I loved the vignettes that WWE did when HHH was first introduced. They were great. It was obvious early on that he was destined for big things in the business, but I never imagined that he would come as far as he has. He played the political game, nailed the boss's hot daughter, and he won. He outplayed everyone. I got nothing but respect for him. The Cerebral Assassin was more than just a gimmick. Along with Punk, HHH is one of my personal heroes. What he has accomplished since taking over WWE is astounding. He has completely turned the creative around, and has consistently made the company even bigger and more popular. HHH is the man.
There really are both Triple H love and hate in the comments and I think that’s great
Why he do Booker T that way?!?
I think most WWE wrestlers didn’t like the newcomers from ECW and WCW at the time, thinking they might come and steal their jobs perhaps?
We all know part of triple Hs rise is cause of him gettin with Stephanie McMahon he's not dumb we would all do it but also it's cause he loves the business he loves to make it better he knows what it takes to make it better for the fans it takes a lot so he works hard to make it better Triple H did a lot he deserves it even though there was a lot of bad also
Nice, it’s cool to look at both the positives and negatives in a situation like this
I find him to be overrated by the WWE but by overrating him that has caused many fans to underrate him. He was good but wasn't 14 time world champion good. Lot like Randy Orton honestly.
I think Randy was a better in ring wrestler and Triple H was a better pro wrestler character
He would have been a long time main eventer without Stephanie and I think he probably would have had a future in being an agent without her. But where he is now his marriage certainly did help but it's not the reason he's there. He's there because he's dependable, reliable, and the wrestling business is what he knows.
His talents are hard to ignore, even without the McMahon connections
The video call with the old lady part😆 ‘the one with the big nose and a sledgehammer’ 🤣🤣🤣
Jindrak was NOT an original Evolution pick. It was ALWAYS Batista. Batista got hurt, and Vince wanted Jindrak to replace him. HHH told Vince he would try (hence bringing Mark to the photo shoot), but knew in his mind ultimately he wasn't going to be a good fit. This explains why strategically, HHH told him to stand aside while he, Flair, and Randy posed. It would be easier for the production people to edit him out.
Batista and HHH confirmed this.
Thanks for the added info and context
That’s not true. Jindrak was one of the original names along with Maven that had been pitched. When Dave got hurt Jindrak was suggested again.
14:00....If you didnt know what his finisher was and how to take it..Maybe you should have asked Marty
That jobber was an idiot
A real stupid set of events here folks
So a lot of the stuff is things that people already know. You lost over some major parts such as when he decided to go from Hunter Hut humbly just to triple H and change up his look his music all of that. You didn’t cover that at all. We went from him being the blueblood to being in the click and that’s a big chunk of time he skipped over.
Sorry I didn’t fit everything in
If there were two words to describe this man's career, it would be "cronyism" and "nepotism." He was never a draw, but he was close with the right people and so got to play pretend and it sickens me the amount of gaslighting the company does to try and make him seem like a bigger deal than he was.
Never a draw? Ok buddy. Go back to drinking your prune juice.
It baffles me that the fanbase treat him like a god now that he's head of creative. They're still in the 'Triple H is our saviour and hero' mode and believe that he saved the company from the evil Vince Mcmahon - a modern day hero tale.
@@JayB-XSPeople have short memories. I'll admit I care about this more than I should, but it's obvious he still has a major inferiority complex when it comes to where he stood. The fact of the matter is, he was never on the level of Austin and Rock, hell, Mick Foley and Chyna were bigger draws than he was. Yet, he constantly tries to pretend as if he were.
The reality is that Triple-H was no different from most of the other meatheads in the wrestling. The only difference, is that Paul was sitting in Vince's booking meetings and then married his daughter.
Who drew more than him other than Rock, Austin and Cena?
@@ZaklnGritch Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, DDP, Macho Man, Austin, The Rock, Mankind, Ric Flair, Ultimate Warrior, Goldberg, and John Cena. Just to name a few.
Therre's always politics in wrestling, Hunter may have got an advantage from being with Steph, but he has proved himself with NXT and now with the main roster. Man has worked hard, dealt with Vince, undoubtedly had to bite his tongue on several hundred occasions. Good luck to him.

I could understand people hating on HHH for getting with Stephanie if he was a job guy before they met or Stephanie was fat and ugly, but HHH was a star before they got together, and Stephanie was smokin' hot (and still is). HHH did what any heterosexual man would have done if he had the opportunity to become a multi-millionaire, run a billion dollar company, and wake up next to Stephanie every morning. Anyone that has anything negative to say about it is just jealous.

It’s a real picture? And I covered the positive stuff for 3 years, and it wasn’t as popular as the more dark side of wrestling so I went with that
@WrestlePod you're correct, that is a real picture, but the fact you're trying to imply that triple h, a man whose never had any sort of scandal, someone that is well respected inside and outside the wrestling business is a friend of puff daddy or that he also participated in sexual abuse and trafficking is downright absurd, I also think you're extremely misleading when you talk about Vince McMahon, you regurgitating accusations and presenting them as fact is irresponsible.
