@@dontlookatme233 omg nice :) actually speaking of pop singers Jasmine Sokko is one who I think is really keeping up with modern pop trends (as opposed to like JJ Lin all this). Yaø and Leeray also make somewhat pop-y music and they both released albums this year :)
personally I think the genre that sg really specialises in is dreampop/indie/etc. Subsonic Eye is one of my fav bands and they released an album last year. Woes, Sobs, and Coming Up Roses are great too :)
the lead singer of Sobs, Cayenne, also makes hyperpop stuff on her own, and her producer Jorud makes some electronic/idm style music too
and then in terms of hip hop most people alr know about Subhas and BGourd, but San is really good too and super underrated imo, his album .Rar is great :)
and finally if you like rock, etc. then Carpet Golf released an ep last year, and The Intimate Friends are q underrated too imo :)

@@dontlookatme233 Highly recommend Forests, Subsonic Eye, Cosmic Child, Terrible People, Xingfoo&Roy. OG bands like I Am David Sparkle and Amateur Takes Control are great as well, if you like instrumental post-rock. For hip hop I’ll say that AbangSapau, Mediocre Haircut Crew, Akeem Jahat are really the best you can find. Personally I’m a fan of Charlie Lim too, tho his music does kinda skew pop for some songs.
You should really go for Baybeats at Esplanade, or check out the Baybeats RUclips, it’s a free music festival and it has featured some acts! I think Singapore’s pop music sucks tbh the alternative genres (esp rock) are where all the good music is at.

As a big grindcore fan, I loved it. One problem with the genre is that there are a lot of bands that kind of just feel standard. In a way that's fine. It's mostly just people having fun. But it also does mean I've heard a lot of bands that I probably won't remember because they just blended in. I get that it's a problem with every genre, but this is one that seems to feel a bit more so. Probably because of the fact that it's just fast, in your face, aggressive music that's very noisy. So I understand why. But that's why I love when bands like this try to at least try to push the sound a bit.
I definitely agree with the rating over all though. I would maybe give it a bit higher. Yet over all there were some tracks that were amazing and I loved them. Other tracks were good, but also not as memerable.

Much like the latest Napalm Death album, the best of the genre can turn their hand to pretty much any style and incorporate it into their cohesive sound. Similarly, Nasum were so good because of their ability to mix groove with breakneck speed, which Wormrot also do with aplomb, here.

I respect your intent, with this post specifically to describe an artist's work, without needing to create a critical narrative for someone unfamiliar with the genre and group involved, to practice their abilities to notice nuances, and though may not create pleasure to experience it; rather a person may develop more awareness and understanding as a fan or composer.

waited for your thoughts on Hiss. Glad you liked it as well. I feel that grindcore is because of its relentlessness a hard genre to be innovative in. The genre could use some more variation in their use of different instruments. Glad Wormrot used some violin and different drums. I`d like to think about how would a flute or a tuba sound in a grindcore setting. The new Antigama album does experiment a bit but still sounds like Napalm Death worship. Knoll also had a punishing full length release ( Primitive Man vibes but grind). Nasum has been my fav in the genre since Helvete. Also Relevent Few and Gadget had some great releases in the beginning to mid 2000s.

It's funny when Melon does the occasional obligatory metal album review just to let you know he kind of like this thing too sometimes. It's another great Wormrot album. One of the best grindcore bands in the history of genre.

Hey Anthony! I think you should review Maravilha de Cenário, by Martinho da Vila. It is a pretty old album (1975) but it's worth listening to. It's, in my opinion, a great ambassador of "vintage" brazilian music. Hope you read this comment and if you do review the LP, hope you enjoy it!!

Easily hangs top tier with Prowler in the Yard and Nausum's career. Some Annal Nathrakah thrown in as well. Even reminds me of Lykathea Aflame for a few seconds.

Hey Anthony, it might not be the first time you’ve read/heard this and you might even have addressed it in one of your videos but I feel you should review Afrobeats records. The genre is getting more and more popular here in the States and I feel it would bring even more exposure if you added to your list. Since the palette of music you share your opinion on is superwide, I don’t think it’ll hurt. Also, it would bring in more viewers to your channel. Just a suggestion. Keep on doing the Lord’s work. Thank you.
