Who is the THICCest?
1. Dancer
2. Priscilla
3. BOOTY BOI GAEL
Soz m8 but Smough all day
Mitch L harald knights
Mitch L Priscilla, dancer neck too long.
Mitch L obviously it's the Asylum Demon, but if you're looking for the booty with a bit of spice then it's Firesage boi
Filianore :3
The inside of the Filianore's egg looks like transposing kiln.
Raven Seeker I just realized that, paused to see if anyone else sees that. You can make out the tiny Crystal lizard legs holding the center black orb...
I thought the same thing when I first saw it too! We need to raise awareness so some of the more talented lore guys in the community can look into it using third party programs and connections (etc).
13:01 - The best I can come up for 「輪の都の元騎士」 is "Former Knight of the Ringed Capital (city)"
that's all i could come up with too
The art style in the dark souls universe is just so freaking awesome! I think it's my favourite fantasy creation ever, the armour designs are so unique.
try berserk.
Ashaira just as I wanted to tell him try berserk...
Meh, there are a few Berserk references in Dark Souls, but for the most part, the inspiration has come from western literature and tabletop fantasy games
i like how the dog just staring
it like : what...what do you want m8
I think the unaccessible isolated building in the ringed city is where we find gael eating the keepers of the dark soul
seems pretty likely seeing as it looks like some sort of important building, and the gael arena is a ruined tower. the arena is also in the exact spot where the tower would be in relation to the church
Wow that would actually make a lot of sense. I always wandered why they would put that building in the promo if you can't enter in it.
It actually isn't. It's close to that building, but it's actually just in the distance buried in ash. I tried to get into it, but you cannot.
People have no-clipped through it. It's literally just an empty room half-assedly placed on top of a cliff model. I have no idea why they chose to show it so much. I was 100% sure we were gonna get thrown directly in it by the giant and that's where we would find Fillianore. Shit's confusing, man.
They drew Rosaria in a similar position to you know who
So Rosaria is Gwynevere
9:03 Rosaria is covered by...
Wax.
Arief Leonhard's semen
Also, some adventures with Google Translate have informed me that enemy is "former knight of the ring city." So...pretty straightforward there.
"And of course x and of course x and of course x in all his glory and of course x and of course..."
For the woman with nothing in her hands, could that be Ocelot's mother? The baby was invisible after all.
*PAUSE AT **5:22*
GOD DAMNIT!!! I would love that this original version would be indeed the true Greatsword of Lorian, instead of the shitty game version.
KRIMZONMEKANISM Shitty game version? Are you fucking high?
I really wonder why they changed it, cause even the game icon has the original sword. Which does seem to look pretty epic, although I don't mind the design of the one we have, it is a shame we didn't get to see the original.
?? its just how it looks in game what do you mean? if you mean that its smaller its because lorian is pretty big so it makes the sword look small
I agree!! The one in game looks a bit more cartoon-y than the one we see here.
Probably the sword before he fought the demon prince and had it scorched with fire. Still would have liked to get it maybe as a third transposition option for Demon Prince soul.
I don't need it, I don't need it, I definitely don't need it.......
I NEEEEEEED IT
new theory
what if villheim before becoming freids knight was one of the fallen knights stated in the fallen knight set to have disbanded and met untimely ends.
untimely ends could mean Villheim turned hollowed and freide saved him with him vowing to serve her.
Aldon Wine noice theory
Had a little loregasm there.
Aldon Wine Always got the impression that the Fallen Knight set is just a shrouded Drakeblood set.
Yeah, you also find an enemy wearing the fallen knight set close to the cleansing chapel, and the corpse you find the armour on is also close by, so maybe vilheim just went further than the other knights and found Freide
Aldon Wine don't mean to bust some fun but the fallen knight stuff is actually just the knight set lol
+Mitch L
12:59 roughly says "Former Knight of the Ringed City" so i imagine it's like a variant of the Ringed Knight but with mechanics more like the Outrider Knights
The statue of the woman seemingly holding a baby could be Oceiros' wife. She may be holding Ocelotte. For all we know, the child was invisible to the Ashen one's eyes.
2:29 I say that's a picture of the Lothric Queen holding Ocelotte
Jesus the artwork is gorgeous :O need to nab me one of those
What the... did the Elfriede's art shows her EYE!?, what kind of blasphemy is this!?, its like it isn't a Dark Souls official art!?...
:P
Worth noting is that Udon Press keeps licensing these suckers for publication in English translation; the Dark Souls Design Works for both DS1 and DS2 are already out and _Bloodborne_'s will be released in June. It's nice for some of the short interviews and the like they usually have at the end of the book.
I've just found out that the dragonslayer's helm has teeth smh.
I wish their design works books came with a CD soundtrack
Using a translator, the name of the enemy at 13:00 is "Former Knight of the Ringed City".
The enemy in 12:50 is "the original knight of the Ringed city". I can read Japanese, so I'm sure of it.
I like that slowly, over time, Mitch is revealing the archetypal aussie shitposter that lays dormant within.
In case someone else hasn't given you the translation at 13:00:
A former knight of the Ringed City (輪の都の元騎士)
painter girl's mom is velka
7:47
Image of me emerging from bed in the morning.
I still think Rosaria is just Gwynevere possessed or some shit.
Just noticed because I was looking into it a while ago, but the super-bearded Millwood Knight is the unique Earthseeker variant. They carry a helm with way bigger antlers, a different chestpiece, and have a huge beard to differentiate them from the others. Seeing as there's only one of them in the whole DLC, they're easy to miss. Took to calling them Millwood Chieftain for differentiation's sake.
THICC :3
For the enemy featured around 12:55, its name roughly translates to "Original/Origin/Former Knight of the Ringed City"
Doesn't help much in terms of figuring out what it is, but at least we know its affiliation and possible occupation.
I'm surprised it's only 34 usd
Absolute love the Filianore artwork. Looks like something from the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
i am za warudo
12:50 I tried to translate it (I don't know Japanese :D). My results were something like "former cavalry souls swordsman" LOL.
Painter girl is cute! CUTE!
What an amazing artbook. Thanks for sharing.
the first minute has sealed it in my mind: shitpost more, Mitch-sama!
Ah yes, the legendary art of using your keys to open a box... 10/10
Yes that's it! I'd like a laaaaaaaaarge... *WHAT?!*
Huh?
Extra *T H I C C*
you thinl the ringed knight set might be somehow based on the same effect that has carved that gaping hole in Gaels stomach? or maybe otherway around?
The queen holding an invisible baby is really interesting, since know lord/dragon hybrids can turn invisible from DS1. My first thought was that it could be the Queen of Lothric holding Ocieros' child, but considering its in Irithyll, a city closely related the the lords, it could be any number of godesses I guess, a lot of time has passed. Perhaps Yorshka was invisible at birth, it is her church after all, and she shows hybrid signs.
Hmm, seems like Gwyndolin forsook his crown and instead donned a hood. A metaphor of him abandoning his previous admiration for Gwyn perhaps? He is probably the most interesting characters in the series for me. Definitely buying this book so I can get full page scans of these.
Seems like Lorian was supposed to have a cape in the earlier stages. Still can't believe Lorian and Lothric are known as Twins. They look drastically different and Lorian looks visibly older than his brother. Very interesting design works this time around.
The lying, cloaked spectre you didn't know the name of I think is a Ringed Knight simply keeled over. You can see the horny projections on its elbows and knees just like from the armor, just a little less fleshed out.
Within Fillianore's egg I believe is the wasteland you're transported to after you touch it. That's what it looks like to me, a snapshot of the desolate apocalypse. I never made sense of it in game, but in the artwork here I can clearly see the desert in there.
The Dancer is the THICCest of them all.
Gwyn forged a ring of fire that warped and controlled aspects of the world, corrupting those who bore it. He gifted part of his power to great kings of men, who became wraiths. The lord of fire aligned himself with a certain dragon. This ring was a particular burden to the pygmy, such small and furtive folk. This stuff sounds familiar somehow...
There is actually a historical executioner sword that the in-game sword is based on. It is from Germany around the 1600s and has an inscription itself: "When I raise this sword, so I wish that this poor sinner will receive eternal life." I would imagine that the in-game sword's runes would translate to something similar
14:35 Eleum Loyce 100% minus some details. could it. e that patches is from there!!!?
but most likely new. it just looks so much like it.👌
Is it some sort of special edition? Design works for DS 1 and 2 are rather thin compared tot hsi monstrosity of a book. I always wwanted some quality artbook, as I think DS has some of the best quality artworks in gaming so far. I'd love to own this thing.
Is there a chance for a completely english version?
(Did they also make an english version for dark souls 2 maybe?)
@12.55 the name reads, Old Knight of the Ringed City. The "old" here also means "once was"
watching the video I was thinking about buying it, I mean , I love both concept art and dark souls... Then I saw the price.
IMO:
the statue of a woman with crown is the former queen of Lothric and she is holding Occelott.
who is invisible.
That is one sexy book! I need that lol and the Bloodborne one still x.x
Lord, the art is fucking gorgeous. I love it.
Gundyr looks oddly like a Stormcast Eternals Retributor from Warhammer
Is there an interview with Miyazaki in there aswell? Where he talks about lore stuff like in the DS1 Design Works book.
Best introduction to a video I have ever seen.
Hey man I'm interested in buying this book but it's everything japanese I can't understand anything there can you help me out?
I always thought the Design Works books had interviews and comments in them not just artwork.
I know this sounds like blasphemy, but can you unbind the book? maybe get those cross page shots more exposed
I think the one you couldn't place was a Farran Keep Follower from Ashes of Ariandel
Should i buy this or wait for english version?
Does this books comes with an interview aswell?
Anyone knows where I can find the whole book whitout haveing to buy the "real" book thanks :)
Why the ringed city has so many "Sword of avowal" in their structures?
What if that lady holding nothing is actually holding OCELOOOOTTEEEE
Any transalations for the credits yet? i really want to know the names of the concept artists for this game. The art for these games has been incredibly consistent in its quality.
NO matter what always! always buy the art book for the games you love especially if your an artist.
Can we get a link to where you can buy one please?
amazon
Why do people always ask for links in videos like this??? Literally just type Dark Souls 3 Design Works in the search bar it's not that difficult!
Fullmetalnyuu1 you just don't get it
I might be wrong, but i believe that unidentified enemy at 12:50 was the first pygmy that greets you when you first find the ringed city.
rosaria
The angêl Looks a bit like Neshandra from DS2
I think the unknown Japanese named enemy was the guy crawling away at the start of the ringed city
Looks like there is a transposing kiln within the egg!
this book is so cool I might consider getting one
I need one. Are these limted edition? because I'm skint right now.
Do you know if they will be making an English version?
336 pages damn thats more that the ds2 book and it had 3 dlc's that were nice lengths
Do you by any chance also have the Bloodborne official artbook?
Thanks for this. Still waiting for the Bloodborne Artworks book to release this June. Definitely gonna get this 'cause I already have the DS and DS II books. :)
h4wk10 hyped
Does anyone have any theories or insight on the snake doll and its lore significance? It seems like it should be really important, from its unique design and placement, but honestly I've got nothing, and I was able to puzzle out a lot of obscure stuff in the DLC. The snake doll though... it's got me stumped.
Priscilla
Is that just an extra long tuft of hair, or does Fillianore have a tail???
the enemy at 12:56 is an npc you come across just before the ringed city bonfire
12:50 looks like the NPC at the start of The Ringed City locale
12:59 "Original / Former Knight of the Ringed City"
I think.
shame the game fails in some parts to execute those wondrous artwork
Rosaria is in the same pose as Gwynevere in dark souls 1. So I believe, therefore, that Gwynevere transformed into Rosaria. It's kind of sad she lost her amazing chest though, I guess Gwynevere went to the cathedral when it was still a way of white church and got corrupted later by the deep and Aldrich.
she is supposedly married to the flame god flan i doubt he would allow that.
That was a very, very, very long time ago, and Flann could have died and she remarried, or Gwynevere doesn't give a shit and marries who ever she wants.
that's not how royal families work.
1) she was clearly very revered and worshipped since gwyndolyn chose to keep her image as the illusion for anor londo.
2) she was the eldest daughter. a king (gwyn) does not marry his eldest daughter to just anyone. flan was either very strong or very important. either case he wouldn't just vanish or die without anyone finding out.
3) she was the purest of all the children. gwindolin was born a man with girl powers (as they were seen by gwyn), yorshka and or priscilla were halfbreeds, the youngest from the dlc forgot her name was tainted by the abyss while guarding the pigmies. the importance or pure blood in a royal familly cannot be understated. just look at what the lothric line went through to try and get that back.
4) since her ring portrays regenaration and her miracles grand healing it would have taken something BIG to corrupt her and twist her into what rosaria is. since rosaria stands for everything opposed to what gwynever is shown to stand for.
Flann is not that important since we only had mention of him in one item description. Also Flann could have easily died fighting a demon or something, not even the gods are immortal. Also, the deep absolutely could have corrupted someone pure like Gwynevere. Did you see what Aldrich became? Flann is not mentioned for a reason, he's probably dead/died.
aldrich was a random shitty cleric.
Very good! I've already spotted all manner of lore related details.
Your dog made my head shake uncontrollably
man this looks like the sexiest artbook yet, gotta get one myself!!
isnt the damn statues of rickert from berserk? just noticed
You know your gonna get good stuff when the package is EXTRA THICC.
Amazing Chest Ahead, indeed
do they sell these specially or are they open to the public?
Anyone can get one from Japanese Amazon.
Sweet thanks, i am definitely getting this.
Mitch L Hey Mitch do I need a Japanese Amazon account or can I use my current one?
I just checked on Amazon (I reside in America) and it's availible for purchase. I would suggest waiting for an english translation since there is some material that covers interviews with Miyazaki and other developers.
Any concept art of Oceiros and Ocelotte in the book?
Wtf is that book really over $500??
That dramatic effect
10:49 That looks like an aged Priscilla.
Will you ever do a full book view with all pages? Thanks for the video btw
Any news about the english edition yet?
:3
