    Thx for the video’s I am subscribed. My father started life as a bricklayer many years ago, prior to plastic drainage, as a boy I worked with him. Watching you both is interesting peaceful creative and for me nostalgic. Interesting the tools levels gauges now available however the fundamental part of the trade remains hard work and taking pride in creating new and refurbished buildings!👏👏👏

    liked, commenting and subscribed previously. I build my radius walls as you do. I find it easy for some strange reason laying freehand and plumbing the perps. its therapeutic even. anyhow enough of that. good job guys. on the move next week my missus and I. bought a bungalow, we aint getting any younger steve. remind alex to look after his knees they don't last forever.

    You have earned your sore back today Steve and a very neat bit of work . I can’t get on with a 30mt fibre tape as I always think if I pulled it to hard I would gain 20mm so I prefer a steel one.
    You must be an asset to the builders because as you know “ some civils gangs “ just blast in the foundations without much regards for the following trowels . Ps your filming and attention to detail is spot on .🧱👍💪🇬🇧🎥

    I have been watching some foreign bricklayers near us on a housing estate, why are the brick walls white all over now the walls have dried......., plus different batch colours of bricks make it look untidy. Loving the calm videos.......

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild
      @SteveAndAlexBuild  4 года назад +2

      Mark Newman Thanks Mark . The white stuff is efflorescence. It’s the salt coming out of the bricks , not surprisingly when the bricks are wet like many at the moment . As for the colours it’s called banding . You are supposed to mix 3 packs at a time to get a good mix but loading bays in site only hold 1 pack at a time hence the Banding 🧱👍🏽

    Did the engineer set the foundation too low against the garage? Or did they set it for the House coursing? Suppose it doesn't matter to much with coursing as there will a vertical movement joint there.

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild
      @SteveAndAlexBuild  4 года назад +1

      Mark Neilson It’s usually down to the garage or house footings being out so the bricklayer has to either pick up or bed down which throws the levels out . They should course in it will just look a bit ropey 🙄🧱👍🏼

      Hi Aaron. The site engineer will fix the pin in advance . His drawing ( or he will work out) the coordinations to work along side the site drawing , and then using GPS satellite on a remote instrument he will set out and fix the pin . In my experience they are usually spot on .

    Couldnt see if the wall was gauged with the house but if not could have always put a course of slips underneath the first course of bricks to get it to gauge with the garage. Tidy job overall though especially considering how much harder building a curved wall is compared to a straight one 👍🏻

    • @SteveAndAlexBuild
