Hey Syd, love to see the heavy lifting! Two words for you with deadlifts: Powerful & Assertive. You have the powerful nailed on the way up! If you remind yourself to be assertive as you put the bar down, your body will thank you in the long run. I have often noticed athletes with low back concerns move with trepidation, especially in the eccentric phase. Just like with technical riding features, move with confidence!Looking fwd to seeing you guys in 2024!
Last winter you guys were my main training motivator and this is my first winter day on the trainer since it was a mild winter... and bam here you are just in time for the trainer. And yeah I have already done the 33 degree and precipitating ride this year, albeit 1/10 as hard as your ride....
I race my boss throughout the warmer months. He has a winter trainer, I don't. I start fresh every year. His yearly progression looks like big ocean swells and mine look like a breaking rouge wave. I can pass him in everything but time and distance on the saddle. All good fun. We are the only two that ride from work (20 guys and 1 woman), and I'm the only one that runs and lifts weights. My overall endurance lets me perform better than the big hulking farmers and I actually seek out physically demanding work. They look at me funny when I get excited about shoveling snow or stacking steel bars. I love it.
Saturday morning, here at just above sea level. There was a 50-60 mile group ride this morning, about two hours away, that I've been wanting to do again. With no significant training under my belt currently, and with no plans that included sufficient sleep, food or hydration, I think I made the right choice to watch this video while sipping coffee after sleeping late. 😊 I'll check out your base training page, instead. If I was at 7,200' this morning, I'd probably have trouble going for an easy walk. 🏞️
Nice work despite the cold!! & thanks for sharing some of the strength and mobility you are doing. I really need to learn how to set up these type of power workouts on my bike computer 🤔 so I’m not just defaulting to zwift for my numbers that don’t seem to translate to irl. Any tips? I did most of my training on zwift last year out of convenience then goofed on the fondo I was focused on, my brake pads were rubbing & I was so focused on my 4hr goal I didn’t notice. I would have noticed immediately if I had done some power training outdoors and understood my outdoor power. Your video is reminding me 💪 Redemption in 2024 😊
Thanks guys you made me feel good about my numbers. Now if I didn't have this pesky job, mortgage, and family I could be good cyclist. Just kidding love them to death all but the job.
Heading to Portugal from the UK next week in the ‘RV’ where it should be 62F. Lucky me. Have done only a handful of rides since April. Goal is to simply ride every day for 60 days and get some fitness back. Nothing fancy, however your advice on warm up, goals and recovery is both useful appreciated.
Macky- glad your ribs are healed- otherwise that bench fly thing would be no bueno! Syd- those heavy weights tho 🏋🏼♀️ Way to train and show that flexibility/mobility and imbalances need to be checked!
For all the wrong reasons, I greatly enjoyed watching you two educate and encourage "us" to join you in preparation for the year's riding "season"... all the while consuming an adult beverage knowing full well there's a willing participant in the garage waiting to be ridden again! OK OK, off to ride now 😋
Man, you two we're smokin fast. Great job!! Im continuing my winter training. I took a two week break back in November but have been back training since. This year my focus has shifted from sprint style races (45 min to 1 hour) to longer races (3 to 4hrs). I seem to do better in the longer races for some reason. I've incorporated heavy weight training and running into my training this year along with longer rides and some road rides. I'm trying to stay on the pedals for longer periods of time and slowly increase my cadence. Do you two have any advice that might expedite the process and skip the school of hard knocks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and don't forget to be more awesome!! 😁
Good to see the outside tests, most of the time these types of workouts are on zwift where you dont have to worry about wind and the cold and then you wonder why the numbers arent the same in IRL. Can't wait to see what races you do this year!
I enjoyed watching this while eating chips...will ride tomorrow I promise.
@8:40 “those are the best 15 seconds you ever had, right?”…hey, that’s what I keep saying to my wife too!

You should enjoy the hell out of that 33* field test!!! - jealous from Minnesota❤
Maybe y'all could do an equipment review this Winter on helmets, gloves, shoes, and so on. Equipment you wouldn't want to race without.
You guys are awesome! I love watching your content. All your videos are very well put together and you are both an inspiration!
I love this. Thanks for sharing. And Ouch!

Great video! I really liked seeing the graphic of your workout and that you shared your power numbers. Thank you, and you guys are awesome!
No Puzzler recap? Glad to have lined up with you all. Syd is taller than I thought!
Coming on Friday! And yes I get that a lot 🤣🤣
Thanks guys for this post. It reminded me that all athletes struggle to get outside on those rainy/snowy winter days...not just me :)
On your X's bikes? Wow. Never seen that test done like that. I'll still keep mine

I'm hoping to see the 2 youtube plaques side by side either on a vid or on insta, i know it takes a while to receive said plaque.
We actually just got it recently so it will be up on the wall soon 😊😊
Hi guys! if you are not longer with Niner which bikes are you gonna use now? Greetings from Mexico!

It’s too cold to train. April sounds like a nice time to start if it’s not raining😅
-5 degrees Fahrenheit today. See you in the gym!
coach Mike's test looks a little like 4DP!
My favorite exercise is at 5:10.
8:30 brutal 🫣
Im having a brain malfunction. What happened to your other trainer ( person ) ? Cant think of his name. Thank you stay safe and God bless
We've been working with Coach Mike and PT Dane for a while now. Maybe you're thinking of Lee who we did skills work with?

Did a very similar power profile test the other day and turns out I had skewed a bit too much to the endurance half of training
Thank you! chillax just talk to us you 2 are exceptional!
loved the video..made me feel 100 years old
Wow. Just wow.
33 degrees sounds amazing! My training ride tomrrow morning is going to be 10 degrees and windy. Time to break out the warm gear.
