I think the disconnect is between identity (nonbinary) and expression/presentation (GNC). The point of the category breakdowns in ballroom is so you can compete against your peers who identify the same way as you i.e. FQ v FQ, BQ v BQ, NB vs NB. I think where ballroom fucked up was creating a new category based on and fixating on expression/presentation rather than identity. Presentation is ultimately up to the walkers interpretation of the category because anybody can walk with a GNC presentation (an often do) for example a BQ voguing in a wig and heels. Make the categories NB instead GNC and we’ll solve all this confusion.
Unfortunately with ballroom and categories it has to be presentation based for the sake of completion and structure. Trust me we went back and forth for weeks and months on these things 😩

I don’t agree with all that was said but I love that fact that a non binary person and a gnc person there, far to often these conversations are had about it us without anyone there to actually speak up. I would say being non-binary is solely about who you are internally NO MATTER how you show up and is under the trans umbrella. GNC can be expressed in many different ways such as presentation, mannerisms, or etc and being GNC is not specifically under the trans umbrella.
I see a lot of comments where people are saying they "don't get it." The fact of the matter is, you don't need to get it to show people respect and treat them with kindness. Also, if you don't understand something, take the time to educate yourself and learn. It's really not that difficult. If someone is nonbinary, they often don't subscribe to the notion that there is a gender binary. If someone is gender non-conforming, they don't conform to expected gender norms. Some of these individuals identify as trans, some do not. Let people be who they are. This is something every marginalized group has had to fight for. Why not make it easier on those who are coming up, so they don't have to struggle in the same way as those who paved the way?
I love the conversation of GNC /Non Binary. I think this was a great introduction and a start. Light bulb moment for me was when. It was said “That’s how cis women feel”. (Powerful moment I got it ). Thank you for being the start of new conversations. Also I love when ignorant questions are asked to help the viewers. It do educate cause some are learning. & I too

However, here is a different perspective.Pioneers, icons, and legends are the FIRST people that should have been guests on this show. So they can lay the foundation on each category and how a ball is to be structured. Just my opinion. Cudos

I think that these type of people just want a box to fit in that they can “thrive” at because it’s deluded to say that ‘each day I’m a different person.’ And then to have the expectation that everyone is supposed to play clue and be politically correct by remembering to ask pronouns. Lmao It’s simply not practical. Most humans are going to go off of what they can assume until the end of time. The majority is not going out of their way to memorize all of these confusing layers and new definitions. It honestly shouldn’t be this complicated because it’s all just different forms of expression. I don’t see what the problem is with being a man who likes to wear feminine things and wants to grow breast but doesn’t want to identify as a woman. And I LOVE what Thaddeus said about wear what will help society identify you as what you feel as because you can’t say “F society” because to a point we have to be considerate of society because strangers we encounter can only acknowledge based off what they can assume until they get to know you.
I encourage y’all to get in a think tank and adopt the overseas scene organization and apply it here. There are certain balls that have mad ppl walking but I think it could help

Last but not least, I believe that people shouldn't put their whole life into Ballroom like it was done back in the days as the start of a great movement, but they should be involved in many other aspects of the community. I love how Asia is over in Switzerland doing a work over there. My take is that she has outgrown Ballroom for now but with that it propelled her to something even better through Ballroom.
I’m not in ballroom exactly but I am a trans woman. I identify as black and I’m part of the culture Black people I just feel. That when working in corporate America that is a trans woman I don’t get the standpoint of non-binary or GNC they already look at us as a joke and now how would they be able to take us seriously when we’re not even being able to identify with a sex either a man or a woman? And not only that you have to look at it from a hetero sexual standpoint. As being a parent and being able to see this representation is misleading and confusing to youth. It’s already a stigma place over us I get the standpoint of how they feel individually, but it’s a much bigger picture than just that and then Octavia Saint Laurent pave the way and many more before her for we can be where we are today we have to have some type of structure in order for we can stand for something and with that being said, we need to know who we are as a culture
