Hi, very cool video, thanks a lot. I run into an issue: the boxes which are created by "distribute on faces" are empty (outer shell is shown in orange of each box) in the viewport. If I mute these notes, everything looks as it should, so the material setting seem to fine. Any suggestions? I'm new to blender, so I've no clue about the cause.
I’m not 100% sure what you mean by boxes, but they sound like points. If so, and you’re not seeing them in the viewport, chances are you are using the Eevee render engine. This needs to be switched to Cycles in the render settings tab for them to appear properly. Alternatively, if you want to stick to Eevee, you could add an Instance on Points node after Distribute Points on Faces and use an Icosphere or UV sphere as the Instance object.
Good question. Getting tubes and cutaways will also work in Eevee. All you need to do is use either an icosphere or UV sphere rather than points as the Instance Object.
My new favorite Blender channel.
Really useful and clearly presented - thanks! 🤩
Glad it was helpful!
Perfect

Nice workflow.

@@ryomizutagraphics It was indeed due to the rendering engine. I've now selected cycles and the points are now white, instead of black.
wow nice work
is there a way to achieve this in Eevee?

Can you share which HDRI are you using in this video?
