    A lot of people don't know or fail to realize that kobe was actually a power house. He was definitely one of the stronger payers in the NBA. Matt Barnes, Mikael pietrus, Paul Pierce, went on record in the past saying they couldn't guard him one on one because of his strength speed and skill. He did also back LBJ and Melo down in the paint. That should speak loud enough as a testament of how strong he was on top of his untouchable footwork.

    • @MikeyLan
      @MikeyLan 7 лет назад +14

      he's strong but he has always struggled with stronger guys like LBJ and Melo. after one game against Melo, Kobe says it's like going up against a bull lol. he compensates with impeccable fundamentals, footwork, and athleticism but while strong, his strength isn't up there with LBJ and Melo.

      His post up work is not the same like those of the big men, he doesn't attack the rim at all he takes the floor only so he can make space for his fadeaway jumper which is actually a perimeter shot. He never posts up in the low post where usualy big men do and why would he, he is a shooting guard positng up in mid post or high post. Kobe's post up is so boring and obvious 90% of it finishes with his famous fadeaway jump shot. If you want to see some real post up work watch the guys like Pau Gasol, Lamarcus Aldridge, Mark Gasol etc. Al Jefferson and Roy Hibbert also had some really good low post moves few years back.

  • @RahulPresentsKobe

    It's beautiful in a way how Kobe sometimes looks exactly like Jordan on the Wizards, long after prime years have ended, lacking the athleticism, and yet still so strong and fundamentally sound with the footwork, not to mention great ball fakes, head fakes, etc.

    Its amazing how he can still back these guys down, including Lebron of all people

    • @gcasillas1213
      @gcasillas1213 8 лет назад +27

      That's one thing I've always thought to myself, Lebron's strength is greatly overrated. Hell Kobe at his peak physical for was stronger than basically every guard in the league. The difference is that Lebron's strength comes from driving into the paint and knocking defenders away in the process. To be fair alot of that bulldozing should be called as offensive fouls. Kobe was strong enough to not only back Lebron down, but guard him physically whenever he wanted to. Unfortunately people have forgotten how great Kobe was due to his last couple of injury plagued seasons.

    • @jjmu92
      @jjmu92 8 лет назад +3

      He's 6'7 oversized guard you guys act like he's skinny like durant or short like Nate when he stands next to Lebron he's pretty much same height I know height doesn't determine strength but come on Kobe isn't small or weak

    • @nostalgicbliss5547
      @nostalgicbliss5547 8 лет назад +19

      Kobe isn't 6'7 dude, lol. He is actually just 6'4 in real life without shoes. But with shoes he is obviously about 6'6. He is lean and has an elongated look that makes him seem taller than he is. Lebron is about 6'7 + without shoes, so his NBA listed height is closer to his real height. Remember Kobe also lost a lot of weight over the last couple of years, but it's still impressive that he maintained his strength, it's really all about having a strong core.

    • @jaybrad111
      @jaybrad111 8 лет назад +4

      Yeah I think he said his real height was 6'4 .75 inches. Same height barefoot as MJ. He played at 200lbs the last couple years but was still doing just about everything he was doing at 220.

    • @dannyllerenatv8635
      @dannyllerenatv8635 6 лет назад +8

      Kobe was always strong and in his younger days very explosive. To think out of all the players that were drafted in the late 90s early 2000s that tried to be "Like Mike," kobe was the only one who managed to pull it off despite the fact that he wasn't even the most physically gifted SG in that mold. T-Mac and Vince both had height advantages(vince less than T-Mac), longer wingspans, and bigger hands than kobe and they were also more explosive than Kobe who was unbelievably athletic in his own regard. Hell, even MJ was a bit more gifted physically, despite being the same height MJ has broader shoulders, longer arms and bigger hands. His willpower and the fact that he willed his way even through broken fingers at times made him so great.

    Seeing stuff like this is IMO why he's one of the best. I mean, compare him to the other big names during his time in the league. Vince Carter, Melo, LBJ, Durant... all better physical specimens, all stronger, faster, etc. Yet Kobe countered all that by having a complete skill set, great footwork, great post up, the ability to shoot with either hand. He's also a under-rated passer because he was a "shooter", yet I believe he's actually top 10 for his position in assists?! He's a lockdown defender when he really wants to be and goes at it. I remember that Olympics team where he asked to be put on the opposing teams best scorer and took a backseat to the others on the offensive end. He shutdown everyone he faced, all these players that were high scorer's in the Olympics and I think only one of them scored over 15?

    I resent very much how everyone says he "copied" Jordan. It's offensive and disrespectful to how hard he worked to be as skillful and fundamentally sound as he was. You cannot simply copy someone, that kinda shit comes naturally. You actually think kobe dribbles up the court saying 'alright, this situation looks ideal to do that move Jordan did' - nigga, the man is just a genius and knows how to adjust his body for the shot at hand. He's a beast! He's a mamba!

      @filmdude9970 5 лет назад

      There's a video showing the parallels between Kobe and Jordan, not just how the moves are completely identical, but even the mannerisms and celebrations are identical. People don't point out the similarities because they're being offensive douchebags, they point it out because it's clearly there, and he's clearly learned a lot from Jordan. There's no shame in saying he took a lot from the best, it's just being a good student.

      When people place a centers ahead of Dream I have to pick him at 4 (POWER FORWARD) When assembling my starters as the greatest team ever. so you'll have Wilt or Kareem or Russell at Center then i'ts got to be Dream, then Larry or Lebron at small forward then Jordan at Shooting guard and Magic to complete your starting five. i would go with Larry at 3.
