I just returned to the US from traveling in Switzerland. As soon as I was there I knew I needed to travel more. This video just further encouraged that desire! Thanks!
Thanks Heather! Let me know if you ever have any questions :)
Heather Gatten i am planning to travel to Switzerland, where did you go?
When we decided to downsize from living in the country on 10 acres to moving to Southwest Florida...this is exactly what we did. Sold EVERYTHING except for what fit in a POD. WHen we got here we realized we STILL didn't even need what we brought...so we sold lots more. Craigslist was the BEST. We did really well and sold all we wanted for what we wanted to sell it for. Worked out great. Your tip works great for traveling around the world as you said. I'm glad you brought these tips up. Our daughter will be doing travel abroad for college in about 2 years and hopefully we too will be doing more travel overseas again. I'm glad we downsized so while we travel we won't have to worry about "stuff" being left behind.
GREAT TIPS!
Laura Reid hottest sweetest couple ever.

Mikey you my friend are an absolute genius. Thanks!
Awesome stuff man! Really want to go on a long trip like this!
Thanks Cody
I have been binge watching your vlogs for the past couple of days! Im graduating from med school next May, and I want to go to SE Asia for a month before I start residency. Your vlogs are absolutely amazing, and Ive gotten so many ideas from them. Thank you so much!
The spread sheet is a great way to convince your parents that your ready to travel and you aren't going to get somewhere and freak out😂
*you're
It's amazing that if you take a step back and embrace travel hacking strategies, you can really stretch your money and see much more of the world. It's certainly one of my biggest passions too. Great video!
2024: Can't believe Lost LeBlanc has evolved a lot for the past 8 years. This was one of the signature content. Keep it up mate! ✌
I am moving from Michigan to Germany in 36 days (AHH!) and this video was so helpful for me! I'm so glad you showed your budgeting excel sheet. I budget in my head and sometimes that doesn't always work (go figure), so thank you for showing an easy way to get costs/income down on excel! I can't wait to check out your next few videos!
ehehe. I made a last minute decision to go to the Philippines for a month in 2 weeks :)....I'll be visiting family and having adventures. Then in June, I will be making my way to Vietnam. I decided not to go to school this semester. I have time to finish college and "figure things out." But family and adventures like this don't come easy. I find that the longer I put off traveling, the harder it got. It became clear that there would be no convenient time to go on an adventure, so that's why I made the decision I did. :) I can't wait.
Hope things are doing well
Musical Muse how did things go? Did you end up traveling the world?
Finally! Waited for this one! ;)
Hope there are many more videos to come and a super-cut of your best places :)
Wish I was old enough to travel :( but one day ... Also followed you on Instagram love your pics. Keep it up!
WORKING HOLIDAY VISAS!
I didn't have time to save a ton of money before travelling, I wanted to leave ASAP. So I got a working holiday visa for Australia and I'll work for a few months, save a bit of money, and go on a trip. I plan on doing the same thing in New Zealand later this year and then working in Thailand next year as well!
I totally agree. Sell your stuff before your trip. I sold everything I own except maybe three suitcases worth. It really adds up. Great video!
The music has singing in it, and you're playing it over your spoken monologue. It makes it hard to listen to.
I just booked my trip to Thailand for 4 weeks in June 2017. Only $650 round trip on Singapore Airlines!
This video is really really helpful. I watch almost everyday videos like this but this one is very helpful and it has a lot of information. I'm really happy that I found your channel:)
Yes! These are the questions I always get asked. Anyone can travel if they make it a priority. Love your videos :)
I travel with my son in a wheelchair. We went to Bangkok in April and it was way too hot for me, my son and my daughter. The year before we went to India in February because we knew that is when it has the ideal weather. I traveled around the world when I was 20 to 21 years old. I would love to visit Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
I did this trip in my youth and enjoyed every minute of it as well. The memories, experience and friends I made have lasted a life time. Thanks for sharing your tips. I've shared this with my kids and hope they'll follow suit. When is part 2 of the trip?
This is an awesome video. I'm currently saving and loosely planning (I'm like you in the planning aspect of trips) a trip to SE Asia and Australia. I think you have some of the best travel vlogs on RUclips. You report what you see, say what you really enjoyed and comment on what you disliked. Most people just post a highlight reel, but you post honest vlogs and awesome highlight reels that are super helpful and inspirational to people wanting to travel! So thank you Christian for the awesome content, can't wait to see the rest of your trip! And you should totally find a way to insert Shia LaBeouf's amazing Just Do It speech into one of your vlogs.
Ryan Schuck Hahahah thank you Ryan. That's really genuine feedback and I really appreciate your comment! I will find a way to give homage to the all great Shia Labeouf ;)
thank you so much for making this video! it'll be really useful :)
Amazing tips! This makes me want to travel back to South East Asia so bad haha
Backpacking Bananas Thanks!! You have to do it.
Amazing video! I also traveled the last year, 9 countries in 9 months. I tried to summarize some major tips how to travel on a budget and how much you need to spend, while traveling Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
Multi city flights are cheaper sometimes. I paid $599 from Los Angeles to Kuala Lumpur, and from Chiang Mai back to LA. the year before i paid less than $800 from LA to Beijing/Bali to LA.I also recommend flying out on tuesdays . you'll save a few bucks, too
Bravo, but the flights are THEE most expensive part to traveling, especially in Asia.
Exactly what I was thinking. "My father gave me a small loan of a million dollars.."
With a little extra time spent saving most people could afford their own tickets too.
With a little extra time spent saving most people could afford their own tickets too.
exactly
CSquared they are usually the most expensive thing. Try getting a credit card you could earn points for a flight
So great that you did this, I get people asking me the same things, great summary!
Kayla Funk Thanks Kayla!
Was going to ask for this video, but I found it first!
Hi, thank you for the tipps! your videos show breathtaking pics and I´m so happy to go to a trip as well and see such things.
can´t say how much you please me with your work!! Awesome
I've already started saving for when I do this and I'm 14 XD I'm weird xxx
same :D
Who else really liked the before ad the most lol
She proposed!
Find and be friend a trustworthy local... the know the cheapest and best way to go about in their countries... they will also provide you a life line in cases of emergencies and unexpected troubles.
Many locals are proud of their country's best highlights and will be very eager to show case their best stuff to visitors.
when choosing a friend, choose a person that loves to travel (or are working in tourism industry)... usually they will have many travelling companions already and will regularly set group trips which you can join... also it wont hurt to choose a person that is financially well off.
Nice video and tips. Excel is a good tool for budgeting and planning. I enjoyed travelling in Southeast Asia as well =)
This is so useful, thanks so much for this video! Do you think you could add links to where your photos were shared and where you were written about? I'd love to read all about you, I love your videos!!

Excellent video and the information was priceless. Thank you for your time.
yasss milky chance. also you have a new subscriber my friend, you are extremely inspirational and helpful :)
Hey! Fantastic job on the vlogs 👌🏼you mentioned that both yours and Laura's account got hacked. This is my worst fear! Could you do a video with advise on what to do if this happens . So where are you heading to next ? ✈️
I traveled in 24 countries this year and hardly spent much money "Good with money, not rich" THIS IS ME
P.S Lovin your vids man!
I get asked how I can afford to travel ALL the time. People don't seem to realise that it's all about prioritising adventure above all else! Also - rude much? I'd never ask anyone how they can afford to do whatever it is they spend their money on. Great tips, just subscribed :)
this video is so awesome. I am always telling people that they can travel too! I saved up to travel and people usually assume that I'm rich or my parents pay for this. Not true! I sold all my stuff and saved money just like most other travellers :)
Wait, your parents paid for your ticket that's the most expensive part. Anyways, nice tips.
That would be another $750-$1000 so not too much more considering how much you'd be saving in general
This was very helpful. Thank you! I will be using these tips.
great video man I've traveled all over the world in the Navy and travel does make you richer. buy i have a family so it's a real challege to take my family for cheap and I'm not taking my kids to some run down hotel. so what I did was join the travel industry and it changed everything even my plane tickets are at wholesale prices and it's a tax write off. I love travel so my wife and I decided to get paid for it now we're helping mellinials all over the world to have a home business that their not tied too. just having a CLIA card will sometimes land you an upgrade to first class for free , great industry.
about moving back to your parents was "a sacrifice [you] willing to make"...found this really funny
Very informative! Thank you for the inspiration.
Not Hannah Simone Glad you found it helpful! :)
Philippines bad weather seasons are from June to Oct . Maybe a little Nov depending on the place. They get 20 or more typhoons these months
Good tips...Nice one. :)
good tip, just save money on everything you buy ( if you are not living with mommy and daddy to help you in the US ) and then use airb&b that's it ! tadaaaaam
just discovered this channel! definitely subbed from NZ :)
Great tips! Great experience! two thumbs up!
hey could you post in the description a template of the excel worksheet you have in the video thank you! Great Video!

How did you carry your money. Did you take your credit card or use a travel money card?
you've missed the underground river in puerto prinsesa. you will be amaze when you see it. i gurantee you that. btw, nice video.
Great stuff man! 👏🏾 how did the visa situation work for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia?? Heading to Thailand in a couple weeks and I'm thinking about doing this south east Asia "chain". ..Keep the camera rolling!📹
+israel arcet Vietnam is the only one you need to get in advance! The rest you can get on arrival
Awesome footage!
IV always wondered how travel vloggers can afford to travel to different places every week! Lol and how they can travel without working.. and just haven't been able to get answers untill seeing this. Id love to travel but IV got 3 cats to worry about so maybe won't go away for 7 months :p. Good video, even though I'm 2yrs late watching it :p
scholarship, living in paretns house, parents paying for the airplanes tickets selling car, thank you great tips, so if you are a 16 years old in the US (because in europe no car before 18) those are great advice !
+Augustin Lafay dont fucking patronise this guy. he is honest. and you KNOW what it takes: just work, save money and after a while you can go travel. or even better start working via internet, that way you can travel AND earn money. i am doing this for last 5+ years
great. you had some ideas I hasn't thought of. thanks!
Amazing tips brother. Not long into the video, I realized I was just doing the same things as you are saying here and I am actually heading to Asia myself in couple weeks. Coincidence, I stumbled here. Btw one quick question, do you use Final Cut Pro to edit your clips? I am just curious!
Hey! Totally inspired by your trip and can't wait to do this myself in a few years! I have a few questions I'm hoping you can help answer. I'm wanting to see Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, do some island hopping in Indonesia and see the Philippines as well. Is 3 months long enough to see all the highlights of each country? How much do you think would be safe to budget for a trip like that? Also what is the best route(arriving/departing from) to avoid backtracking? Is Indonesia fairly easy to get around? Also what was your favourite part of Vietnam? I haven't gotten that far in your videos yet... Thanks in advance! Didn't mean to bombard you with questions.
Sarah Taylor Hey Sarah I'll answer as much as I can. 3 months will allow you to do all that you have mentioned (Though you may be rushed) I'd recommend 4 months. This kind of trip will likely be 4-7 thousand depending on how you travel (Not including the expensive flight there and back). I'd recommend start in Bangkok, Thailand. Indonesia is quite easy to get around. Favourite in Vietnam is Sapa in the north and Hoi An in the central part.
Many more vlogs coming you will find interesting/helpful.
"money Jim owes me" haha i could retire on the money my friend Jim owes me...... Probably same Jim too LOL
Where did you do your scuba lessons? I look forward to your next videos! I'm gonna start planning and saving for trips for my boyfriend and I and all of this is great advice. Thank you for sharing!!
Nancy Mejia Glad you liked it! And I did it in Koh Tao Thailand.
Christian's Travel Vlog Thank you! I'm excited to start planning and saving 😁
:)
hi christian! i love your channel and travel vlogs, you inspire me to travel more often! i was wondering how do you make money from you vlogs, photos, videos that you post? where do you upload them? thanks!
Just followed you on instagram

Lindsey Treweek It was!

great video defiantly come in handy :)
Thanks for the informative video and for visiting my countries, Japan and Philippines. I wonder if you got any travel insurance at all?
I'm lucky I have been learning Exel in computing 😀
Awesome!!
Finally!! :) Thankyou, this video is really helpful. I do have a question tho that I hope you could answer. Did you join a certain tour? Like when you went cliff jumping in Philippines or in Thailand when you went to the elephants sanctuary? If yes, then how much does it cost roughly because it looks like you have a private tour guide for those.
Vania Tirza Hey! Nope never joined a tour, but we did have guides in places like bali, and the cliff jumping spot. Tours are generally more expensive without offering anything different. The elephant sanctuary is not technically a tour but the owner takes you around the sanctuary.
-Cliff Jumping in Badian/Kawasan Falls was around 30 USD
- Elephant Jungle Sanctuary was around 50-55 USD which is much cheaper than most of the sanctuaries which can be as much as 100-120.
I would maybe do 2 A, C
good life choice bro. thanks for the info
When you take photos with gopro do you just take screenshots of videos or do you actually use your photo gopro option? And which one would you recommend? Thanks! Great vlog btw!
Tysm for these tips!
hey leblanc! thanks :)
This video just made me subscribe
Charles Schwab has the no transaction ATM. Must be opened in the USA.
'not another pair of shoes... ouch! -:)
Me and my wife are putting away our VA disability for a year and then traveling off of that . 2 or 3 years we figure.
this is amazing tip!
thanks for the tips man, really helpful.heading over with my misses and lad early feb 2017 to Thailand. wanted to ask, did you buy your dive/snorkel mask overseas or in Canada ? just wondering if i should take mine, (wich I've had since jesus played fullback for Jerusalem) or get a new one over there ? cheers, ps Laura is smokin 😊
Beautiful ❤️
What kind of backpack did you get ?
though some captions shown quickly. missed most. i just rewind. 😀
That you for all the input! Quick question: Did you had a script or you talk from the top of your head?
Since the Philippines is a place you often love to stop buy, why don't you consider talking to a few close RUclipsr friends of yours to setup a small KIOSK type business there which would help generate additional income for the both of you. Next time you are in the area, you should observer the small KIOSKs around the mall (food) and see about getting setup with one... Anyway, just an idea...
your currency is way higher than those in Asia. Now I hope to know how an asian (Singaporean) like me can travel on a budget to the United States and more. haha
I think this is more for the western than asian
+Kathleen Y'all okay. Sad thing that Christian ain't replying me.
get your car and drive. You can get a train to malaysia and thailand for extremely cheap. The singapore dollar is alot higher than thai bhat aswell. what are you complaining about
Alice Alisra lol I said United States. I know about Thailand and Malaysia. I've been there at least 10 times. You ought to read my question properly before firing away. Don't embarrass yourself.
great video!! :)
THANKYOU for the inspiration! How is the music in the beginning called?

could you possibly post a video of the prices in the Philippines?
I was wondering ! When you do check into hostels, what's the best option when it comes to where you keep important things like your passport and valuables! Also banking before hand what your best options were in order to save the most amount of money and avoiding transaction costs!
Cate larochelle Usually they have a locker area where you can lock valuables but sometimes you might have to just keep it in your bag. And sorry I don't understand your other question.
Ah and didn't you lose some $ as well being there unless it was another travellers blog I read! And before you left you brought a bank card was there a specific bank you went with in order to cut costs for using your card internationally and the currency exchange !
Both Laura and I got frauded by using bugged ATM machines. Just make sure you bring backup credit cards and use ATMs in banks if possible. I would withdraw from any atm. No particular bank.
