I’m 4yrs off and wholly disabled by BIND after taking benzodiazepines as prescribed, daily, for 12 years. I went from being ranked #1/9000 students in college and having a successful engineering career to having a working memory ranked in the 2nd percentile. Benzodiazepines are still being prescribed for daily use by many, if not most, prescribers. And the medical establishment knew about these problems as early as the 80s when there was a huge lawsuit in the UK against Pharma that sadly never succeeded. There were 1000s of people in the support groups when I used to spend my time in them. I hope to one day reclaim my life as it seems I have only anger at what happened to me to keep me going through this.
I feel you as I have suffered greatly after complete suicidal mental collapse after CT over 4 years ago. Off X for over 2 years but still suffer from constant episodic eye-head tension. About 1/2 way to normalcy.

This has been the biggest nightmare that we can seem to wake up from because it affects every aspect of living. Do your research prior if you are considering taking this medication and know the possible horrors that you could endure as a result.
Thanks for this video. I’ve been prescribed for 12+ years. I just discovered 1 week ago this is what’s wrong with me, why I’m having all these health problems and chronic pain, recently intense light sensitivity. I’m going to look at your resources and I’d like to have that 2023 paper on long term BIND consequences. Thank you. I’m scared yet relieved because I feel validated for everything I’m experiencing the past 10 years. No idea it was Xanax. Thx 🙏🏻
I personally have taken Diazepam for over a year and it's massively helped me and my Psychiatrist monitors it. I think there is a lot of negative views on these meds but for some people they are life changers and needed.
Ohh dear for 1 year. And yes provider should moniter it u are right otherwise it will not be good thing. Psychological and physiological dependence happens with long time use?? Plz let me know. And also thier is a lot of stigma associated with benzos. I have felt it while I went to get clonazepam. Usually the pharmacist here in Mumbai where I stay I have experienced very humiliation so to say. Whenever I showed my prescription given by my doctor I got strange feeling as if I m being judged or here they just think anyone who asks for this benzos they have themselves assuming each of us are misused them which leads to Mr me question myself what the he'll is happening I mean not everyone are same. Some don't develop habit others might develop leading to overusing. But thud thing biases should be eliminated. People like me then try to avoid going to buy these meds. This is unfair and something must be done to make the stigma and this biases go away. I took klonopin for short term then I said I won't take this is habit forming thier is a term called patient autonomy. Right. We can say give me other alternative like thier is buspirone. But benzos should be monitored absolutely 💯. Which are other meds which cause dependence apart from benzos and cns stimulants like methylphenidate. Can u name them plz ?? 😊hope my reply makes some sense
But does it help in the condition for which it's given. And what is limit a month for the benzos no longer than than or then the anxiety hits more than before. Is this 's kinf of cure?? Personal opinion no they don't cure ateast with me. For others it must be a blessing and I m happy for those. But what is solution. This medicine a caused be a lot of trouble. Mam members do share your opinion. And correct me whenever I m wrong
It's torture, been on these since I got out of the army in 2013, I take too much and snort them, I'm high right now. The withdrawal make me a sweaty nightmare of a mess. I feel like dying. I wish I could get help but just quit alcohol for good 120 days sober. I hope one day I can be free of this demon. I've had ALOT of siezures.
Thank you so much for this information ❤️ My story is much too long and complicated to share here. I appreciate you giving us the opportunity however ❤️
Memory loss, foggy mind, dissasotiation, depersonalization, constant feeling of shame - nobody takes it seriously and it’s been going on for 4 years: utterly disfunctional. Suicide attempt. I am now on 7 meds in lieu of benzos. Unable to function. MRIs show brain damage too. The sad thing is, nothing worked as well as benzos- i had sich confidence and drive on them
Off topic but would appreciate a video series on OCD and specifically the medicine Anafranil. What mechanism makes it OCD specific? And Tricyclics in general! Thank you!!
I notice a lot of your videos are very negative for benzodiazepines. Yet this is one of , if not the most commonly prescribed medications in the world. It work’s incredibly well for anxiety vs any other medications or treatments in the world. Yes, withdrawal is real. Yes, people can get bind. But what are the other options for people with panic disorder and extreme anxiety? Nothing is really out there that works immediately. I remember I had a panic attack, didn’t know it went to the ER, my BP was to the moon 180/100. Did they give me BP meds ? No, they gave me intravenous 10mg diazepam…I was hesitant to, in like no I don’t want it…they were like trust us. No joke, within 60 seconds I was feeling relaxed and in less than an hour my BP was back to normal. They use benzos for nearly everything in a hospital, colonoscopy, MRI’s, pre-surgery etc. I’m not saying your Fear Mongering but maybe do some videos of the benefits. I’ve seen like 3 vids on your channel about negatives only.
Unless I'm missing something, the whole point of these videos is the negative effect of CONTINUOUS long term use of benzos. We've all taken these to placate panic attacks in case of emergency but many doctors have prescribed them like candy without telling most people the devastating side effects and damage to our brains.
It's about the misprescribing and long-term effects. For painc disorder, as I state in the video is for short-term use only. Even the FDA had to change their black box warning due to the mounting evidence of harm. Risks far out weigh the benefits and you wouldn't understand unless you went through it yourself or witnessed someone else go through this type of torture. Read up, get informed and stop drinking the kool-aid!! Benzoreform.org
The sad thing about the overprescribing phenomenon is that some providers now fear prescribing them even to non-addicted individuals who truly need it short term, or just occasionally. Same thing applies to stimulants.
@@EphesianRose good. They shouldn't be precribed at all. They are literally nuero toxins. They sre toxic to the brain sn nervous system.i wish they nevrr invented them . Much less people would be suffering. Horribly. Literally millions of people are suffering from them.

What should I do if I cant sleep. The problem runs in my family. I have a sleep tracker it says I get pretty much 0 deep sleep most nights. I constantly move around at night, Sometimes I talk and wake myself up from sleeping, biting tongue or cheek happens occasionally too. I asked my NP for help and they prescribed a ton of different stuff off label which nothing seems to help. @pdcdesign9632 yes. Melatonin didnt do anything for me. But I already avoid using the computer or watching TV about an hour before bed. Have a solid sleep routine. Just no deep sleep always tired but functional it's weird.
That's because no one is looking for root cause. Check labs, assess for sleep apnea, nutrient deficiencies and cortisol dysregulation very common with sleep issues. See a therapist who knows CBT-i and work on your fears, mindset and anxiety surrounding sleep.

It does get better. I was at a max dose of 8mg klonopin about two decades ago I tapered down to four in ten years. Five to get down to 2mg and another five to get off it altogether. IT'S DEVASTATING AS WELL. 😮
BIND is the new term that encompasses protracted withdrawal syndrome. And yes it is devastating.
Yea, I was under the impression BIND is the new term for protracted withdrawal since withdrawal can be misunderstood.
