Awesome video! Thank you! Do you ever use the "loop" feature on the gopro? I want to hook these up on a deep sea fishing boat; and put them on loop mode; but worry about using up all the battery life on long stretches of trolling or not catching anything. Looked at a UBS Battery eliminator; but the reviews said that they sometimes overheat the cameras. Thanks for any advice. Colby
colby stewart thank you for the looping suggestion i didnt even realize that was an option on my Gopro!...I am going to use it!..as i read up on some tutorials how too loop film... prety excited for this one...im just wondering like you said when your trolling on the long battery times ...so ill have to do my own RandD see what i come up with when im Trolling or trying to catch that action when the fish bites!..I hate trying to start my camera when the Tuna start running with my line i almost lose my Sh*t trying to turn it on HAHA..I might purchase some additional battery's though the cameras run inherently hot as is and they film in extreme temperatures with them all the time so i am not so worried about the heat issue myself.I watched this ruclips.net/video/N0I1VTuG8Kg/видео.html
Thanks for the long reply. I am thinking about mounting the Gopro Session's on suction mounts just under the bridge; perhaps one on each side. In my minds eye, I picture having a thin external battery eliminator or attempt to feed the USB cable into the "open door" of the session. This ofcourse scares me a bit because, as you mentioned; the inside of the door is not water proof; but I think the cameras will be high enough that they will be out of the way from water and splashes. I picture having each camera having their own power source; perhaps in a vinyl pouch of some sort, with Velcro holding the external power source. Then run the USB cable to the camera. Couple of things that I am NOT sure about is if the cameras will run like normal hooked up to a power source (not a battery eliminator); or are they in some type of charge mode? I think the battery eliminator is really made for the Gopro Hero series; and I did note that some people gave them poor reviews bc of overheating. The other pain in the butt, was trying to figure out how to use the App iphone feature vs the Smart Controller. This took me forever until I finally got it. But just like all the other Gopros I have had; if I don't use them a ton, I have to relearn everything. What I want to be able to HIT THE BUTTON and turn ON both cameras ( or more if I get more mounted ) - so I can have multiple angles of the action; which I can edit in post. The iphone Gopro App, as far as I can tell, will only hook up to one camera at a time; which is nice if you want to make sure your camera is in the correct position before I mount it down; however; the iphone App as far as I can tell, can only TURN ON one camera. The other confusing thing is that one runs off of Wifi and the other off Bluetooth and when your on the fly; its hard to know what is what lol.. We really need some of your hats for the best option for action shots; like you mentioned; the hat cam sees everything that the fisherman is looking at; that is key. SO at the end of the day, I need a couple fish cam hats, a few mounted cams on the bridge and maybe on the outrigger if not too rough, and a switch that turns them all on at the same time; or turns on and saves the 15 minute loop. The loop option, although it saves your hard drive, will definitely need an external power source. I will send you my last video I did; using some of the sessions; but unfortunately the fish were not biting that day! OFCOURSE! lol. Also send you a video of a fishing trip from a year ago where I used a DJI drone to take footage on a perfect day. (Note that at the end of the video the drone crashed into the water, and I had to dive after it to save the camera) lol
Kewl vids sucks the DJI crashed is it toast?..well as for your ideas i have to agree with most of it i think only it might be better to keep just the two cameras on bridge max skip the outriggers and maybe your own personal hat cam..as far as sessions go im sure they will have a battery elim for them in due time probably ready for your next fishing season....your vid on the boat was real good and nice coverage... i think its a bit overkill to have more than 2 cams just because of the shear editing and coordination of on offs alone would drive me crazy!!!...i would say hat and bridge cam then you have the action of going bendo from hat view ...watch the rest of the fight on bridge view..and the obvious of hat view for final slaying from water to deck!....im not sure if the app supports 2 cams i have only one myself its a 3+ i love the feature of Bluetooth controlability i makes it so much easier. if you can put those sessions in loop mode when you stop on a patty or start fishing the reef or higher rock formations in blue water your golden... if they overheat and get ruined send them back!!!..that should not even be an issue in my mind anyway lol because those cams are made to stand harsh environments.
your absolutely right Francis but i have hit the camera with my rod before and if i would have had that adhesive i believe i would have lost my 400 dollar GoPro!so its just a more secure way for active people to mount it.
too easy brother, thanks!
+Randy Nunez no problem Bro
Tried it...Drilled a hole in my head.Hard to think now. Also hard to think now.
