Hu Tao is one of the characters that I feel like deserve a second story quest. We’ve seen a bit of her serious side in baizhus story quest, she’s a lot more complex that she seems. And I 100% think they could dive deeper into her character. A thing I don’t like about hu Tao is that how they just made the poetry thing a part of her character without any setup. They just shoved it in and hoped no one would notice

I personally think Hu Tao is one of the very very few characters whose superficial traits are enough to make her memorable on par with other characters'depth, and I by no means am saying that people only like her due to superficial traits or that she is not a well written character, I think you proved both those points wrong, what I mean is even if superficial traits catch attention and build intrigue very efficiently, I think most people would agree that a character with depth has an easier time leaving their mark on them, I think that is not the case with Hu Tao, I truly believe she's a completely three dimensional character but most people who play casually only get to know one of them, her personality, no backstory or motivations, even when I knew nothing about her, she was still memorable to me for just that and her design and vibe. Needless to say I'm glad the writing did not disappoint, her learning at the altar of death that none of her family members died with any regrets that shows their absolute confidence in something as unknown as death and which later reflects in her own personality was really just amazing to know about, as well as her acting strange so people don't take death too seriously even if they end up hating her for making light of the situation, her writing was pretty great all around, even if I wish we got to see more of her.
all i know is that is that when i first laid eyes on this woman in January of 2021 when only one leaked image of her was out i knew she was something special. her character portrayal and personality solidified that for me and to this day she is still my favourite female character in this game. it should be obvious who my favourite male is
I think the the thing I love the most about hu tao's character is her philosophy about death, considering also that she's a character based on chinese culture/she's chinese and how death is kinda of a taboo topic there :O Imo a lot of people kinda overview hu tao's serious side bc I think she's gen a really great character and I love her sm (and i dont really blame them since it's hardly shown in-game, and it's even harder if u dont have her and cant read her stories on the profile) proud owner of c1r1 hu tao
Short answer: Because she's the best and I love her! Long answer: Besides her personality and all her antics, I love the complexity of her character. She talks casually about death but not to make light of it but because she considers it a natural part of life. I've always thought that characters do not exist in a bubble; you can tell a good character from a mediocre one just with how they interact with others and you can clearly see that in her interactions with Baizhu, them being two sides of the same coin. Honestly, I'd love nothing more than to see her interact more with other non Liyue characters since some of my favorite moments with her have been her interactions with Venti and Furina. Imagine the chaos that would happen if she were to meet Itto or Cyno.
I feel like she should have been in the archon quest and fit in really easily because of the fact she works as the head of the funeral parlor she should know Rex lapis isn’t dead because she would probably as the head of the funeral parlor he dealing with the death of an archon so it would be easy to fit her in with helping prepare the funeral and her maybe even questioning where Rex lapis is and helping the traveler find out it’s Zhongli instead of it being found out by just being told to us in northland bank like it was after we fought osial like it was nothing it would have been nicer if us and Hu Tao together found out Zhongli is morax
She was involved in all that. I recall Zhongli talking about her (He referred to her as "Director Hu"). It's just that we did not get to meet her, which is probably because Hoyo not having had her model ready. Same thing with characters like Itto and Ayato. It's a good thing Hoyo started to plan out the AQ better from Sumeru on so that more characters can be involved in their own region's plot.

tao was my first real main for a super long time, i'll be honest it was the damage that sold me lol also, she gets along with venti, W character. she should definitely be in an AQ, after all, even if she wasn't in the main one, shenhe got an AQ added for her after she came out great video! :)
I've come to grips with death a while ago. Back when I was in high school (before the pandemic btw), my grandpa from my mom's side sadly passed away and back in the funeral all I said to him was: "Good to see you, grandpa", as I saw a faded smile on his face. I learned that "none of us choose the means by which mercy will find us, but we are at peace", and weirdly enough both quotes come from Call of Duty Zombies. As for myself, I have written and thought of character deaths and how impactful they should be for those around them: What's the point of their death? How do they embrace their final moments? What lesson is there to learn? Which words should they depart with? And picturing all of that gives it a brand new dimension. So having said all that, *I f-cking hate Hu Tao* like hoooooly cow she and her mains are so annoyiiiiiiing. Hu Tao is WACK She ain't dirty, she ain't ghetto and she definitely ain't a good character. Her hair, WACK. Her weapon, WACK. Her jewelry, WACK. Her footstance, WACK. The way that she talks, WACK. The way that she doesn't have any story relevance and is about as fanservice as Ayaka or Nilou but unlike those two foreheads she has a sort or "muh sad" backstory that can somewhat justify her "we just doin' a little silly moment" personality as she's basically an extremely unhinged version of Megumi from Konosuba which is funny because they share the same JP VA and therefore made her popularity increase as the anime was gaining some relevance from both EN weebs and tourists alike which further increased with the release of Fontaine that gave us Furina the useless god and Navia the strong m'lady (I love her so much), all 3 becoming the perfect counterpart to Konosuba's main girls, *WACK* . My Ganyu? She is cute *AS F-UCK*
