      Scared of the ex husband she went back to several times? Willingly? Come on. Did she have a shitty life? Yes. I feel bad for that 100% but she had an idea of what was going on or what their intentions were. She should have gone to the authorities so that if anything did happen she covered herself by trying to inform them. The cops could have alerted Nancy Kerrigan to a possible attack like they did for Tonya when there was a death threat against her. For me it seems like she thought “hey if they do something it’s good for me and I wasn’t involved so oh well”. That’s how I feel.

      @@cmml06 no I don’t believe that in her situation. Yes those situations exist but her husband has always been portrayed as somewhat of an idiot. He hit her but was truly in love with her and didn’t really have the smarts. He was never portrayed as threatening in any way. She just didn’t have any examples of good relationships, that’s why she went back to him. It was either her mom or him. The lesser of two evils I guess. That’s why I DID feel bad for her. I have NEVER, in any documentaries, got the impression she was petrified of him because he was always kind of a dunce. She had the opportunity to go from rags to riches had she surrounded herself with better people. Not every woman is a victim. Sorry. I know that’s the world we are living in today, where all woman are victims and never wrong but I don’t buy into it. Her situation was that she was rough around the edges, understandably, and didn’t know how to better value herself because of her moms shitty parenting. That’s why people will always have a soft spot for her, me as well, but she knew what was going to happen. Do I think she should have been banned for life? Not really. That was a huge blow to her. BUT Nancy Kerrigan is definitely no angel either! She always seemed stuck up.

      Nancy has talked about it since she was on Dancing With The Stars, I feel like Tonya is forced to talk about it because of the movie coming. I also believe Tonya is taking the opportunity to try and get people to see she wasnt the monster that everyone thinks she is/was. Did she make any mistakes? yes. She payed the price and has lived her life yet shes still getting hate for one: a crime she didnt commit. and two: trying to defend herself, which she has the right to do. Overall this interview would not have happened without the movie coming out

    • @romanseano
      @romanseano 6 лет назад +5

      Erin - Chicken before the egg here: Tonya's talking about it is the seed of the movie. Nancy's answering some questions about this during the interview while appearing on DWTS, was provoked by the production of this movie. Kerrigan has consistently gone out of her way to make her life about her family and her goals, and to (as much as possible) distance herself from these events that she never, ever wanted to be part of.

    • @eilonwyhewlett9513
      @eilonwyhewlett9513 6 лет назад +8

      I think Tonya Harding is always having interviews, it's not because this movie came out, to stay relevant in today's society and for the money. There is evidence that she was involved. Instead of actually practicing routine, she plotted to have Nancy beat with a club. Just watch her performances from the 1994 Olympics, you can tell she didn't practice like she should and Scott Hamilton makes a comment about her lack of practice. Nancy will answer questions if she is already on a show, but she doesn't go out of her way to talk to about the incident. Nancy tries to distance herself as much as she can from something that could have potentially ruined her career.

      Because as her ex who regularly beat the crap out of her for no reason except he could later admitted, he told her they were just talking shit and if she told anybody she would both get her ass beat again and be made to look like a fool in the public's eye and she couldn't afford the latter because skating, especially back then was judged on your public image almost as much as your actual skating kills and they had told her if she didn't look "Stable" as in the appearance of happily married they would kick her off of the Olympic team in 1994.

      You hear people say a lot of things and nothing is ever carried out. If she had said something to someone would they have done much of anything, probably not. People usually don't take too seriously "I heard they might try to take someone out." There is no crime unless there is actually a crime carried out, talking about one doesn't mean anything, especially at that time. She probably thought saying "Guys that is totally stupid." put an end to it. There's lots of reasons. Hindsight is always 20/20. Like I'm sure afterwards the security said "Well we would have taken the threat seriously." I kind of doubt that. Looks like people were coming and going as they pleased from videos of the arena that day.

    I can also understand Kerrigans point of view. Being clubbed with a steel crowbar on your leg while in prime condition to compete in the Olympics ? One would likely be pretty unsympathetic as to how much Tonya Harding had to do with what her "group" did. However from the outside looking in, ones sympathies might be more nuanced. I still have admiration for Tonya Harding for coming from what she did to compete at the top of her sport.

    I remember watching Tonya commenting on the show ‘World’s Dumbest’ when I was a kid and I had no idea who she was but I always liked her and thought she was funny. Now that I’ve learned about the scandal and her career and have seen the film, I still like her. I believe her story.

      I was on a skating team in Minnesota in Roseville oval center and I was clubbed far worst of the time and money was a discrimination against lynn deatherage who has a disabled conditions may not be able to skate again. It happened I quit it after the fact that it didn't even happened when I was pushed and clubbed right in front of tonya and Nancy both all due to a mild learning curve disorder which I was bullied by others who assumed I'm from a trailer park girl. Untrue. My old house 🏡 was fixed up nicely over the years ago.

    I was always in love w/ Tonya, . When things went down, I said " Tonya is not responsable for what other people do ", those idiots had a choice. The movie is about a person who has been BULLIED all the way to the judges. Yes, Nancy is our Queen and we love her. I voted for Nancy while on DWTS, she looks great, very happy for you Nancy, lets be happy for Tonya. The movie is about someone who didn't fold. Tonya, you look great.

    No matter what people say yes she may have over heard a conversation or two about the attack but no way should this be directly aimed at her and her only she was one of the best female skaters in history and to come from a family like that just shows how fast people can judge no matter where she is from she still counts I feel like that could have been one of the reasons she got the major blame

    Nancy's knee was bruised not shattered. There were no fractures and she recovered way to quickly for it to have been "broken". She was able to skate again. Tonya was given a LIFE SENTENCE. All she ever knew was skating, she dropped SCHOOL. And they took it away.

      Nancy Kerrigan ordered the hit on herself and told them not to really injure her so she could pin it on Tonya and get her biggest competition kicked out of figure skating.

      @@lyssagames4311 I don't think she would, she may be stuck up and snotty but what happened to her was definitely Jeff's fault. What happened to Tonya was also Jeff's fault. He ruined two people, one temporarily and the other for the rest of her life. He should be in jail.

    Heartbreaking to watch Tonya Harding. She might not hv been a very nice person but she hasn't had it easy all her life at all. When most kids were being coddled by their parents, she was pushed and cursed around by her mom. With a psycho mother like the one she had, it was hardly surprising that she got mixed up in all sorts of life troubles.
