Where the artiste / singer sings based on his imagination - like an alapana or kalpana swaram - this is unlike a song ( which is already composed by someone). But, the singer must stick to the boundary of the chosen raga while singing the alapana. Within the boundaries of Kalyani - he or she can further elaborate based on their understanding and imagination. Manodharma - where your mind exercises the dharma(of the music) - free expression with responsibility.
