- So there’s a watch-my dream watch-that I’ve had my eye on for a while now, but it’s one of those watches that as soon as you walk out the store with it, loses like 40% of its value-and I don't want to lose 40% of the value. So, with the help of eBay, I saved a bunch of money and bought someone else’s.

@@mdinhlam yes, chopard watches are made with the finest finishing and for that you have to admire this watch. Might not suit the taste of many but it is a high quality watch nonetheless

I've bought & sold expensive watches on eBay. Like all marketplaces you need to be aware of what you are getting into, but otherwise I've had no issues. The authenticity feature was a welcomed addition.
Same here…. Only issue I had was some boffin decided the watch wasn’t “running to spec” yet only had the watch less than 24hr…. Returned it via eBay, I had it checked and it was fine so re-listed and re sold …. New buyer happy as Larry….then I had nothing but trouble with eBay, taking ages to pay me out and then restricting me from selling🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️😡
I have also, more sold than bought and never had a problem except the delay of getting paid especially when they switched systems.
I’ve bought (but not sold) a few luxury watches off eBay. All went through authentication and were happy purchases.

@@HAL_9900 I have sold watches on eBay worth more than many three new vehicles most people could buy and all were 100% new from an authorized dealer of the brand when I purchased them. I even included the receipts minus personal information in the listing description and sale.
I did once buy a Seamaster that turned out to be fake and was refunded the cost plus shipping from eBay within days.
You may know people who would lie, cheat and steal, but not all people are as dishonest as you think.

Damn you Morgan. The last time I watched one of your videos I ordered an enamel dial watch I’d never even heard of before. Now I’m on eBay looking at a FM Casablanca. I’m too tight to pay for RUclips premium and yet my RUclips account seems to be costing me a fortune.

I still think there’s a huge difference between buying a watch online versus in person at a shop or boutique. It’s a whole different level of experience and creates lasting memories.

You bought the right color Andrew. In every other color, the dial looks like a b-hole. But the blue tones it down to where it just looks like a textured dial. I'd definitely buy this over a RO. It just has more character...even if that character is a little off-putting. It has a certain charm that the RO lacks.
Maybe thats the draw for some people of the other colors? 🤔

I bought my Tudor bb58 from eBay after checking it out at an authorized dealer. I saved well over 1k. The eBay authenticator program made me feel WAY better about the experience. But I would absolutely buy another one through eBay. Thought this might be helpful for anyone on the fence. Personally, I would stick to watches that have the authenticator thing. Takes out all of the willys you might otherwise get from buying online.
How does a fella at eBay know it’s authentic. I mean truely authentic?
@@KeepingWatchUK He talks about this a little in the video. It's not technically ebay verifying it. It's a company that specializes in authenticating watches. You even get a little card from the authenticator. Essentially the open up the watch and verify that all parts are genuine. I just think it's a really slick program.
Great choice! Alpine Eagle, Ingenieur and Laureato were all on my shortlist of integrated bracelet watch choice. I ended up going with a 38mm Laureato but the Alpine Eagle was a close second. Looks way better in the metal than on spec sheet or videos. Preferred the no date version with the high frequency LE but price range was out of reach. Enjoy in good health!

Yeah the dial is the biggest flaw. Sometimes less is more.

I’ve had great experiences buying nice watches on eBay. The authentication makes a big difference in terms of my comfort.
Picked up a MAMACOO's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!

My favorite 2024 is the Prospex Limited Edition 1965 Recreation European Exclusive in Gradation Island Blue. The dial is stunning and the contrast when on a white strap is to die for. I will get my hands on one from amzwatch

The best thing that came out of the 2020-2024 hypefest is how many makers made the radar of people who otherwise never would've noticed them. There are many, many wonderful watches out there.
I’ve bought a couple of watches from eBay. The first was a Hamilton 6BB when you could get them for under £100. More recently it was a 1970 Fifty Fathoms which was a lot more risky as it was in need of some TLC. Part of the deal was it was authenticated which I guess meant it was sent some place where they removed the back to verify the inside also said Blancpain as well :-). Smooth transaction and like you, sent in the offer and waited.

Some Patek notes, some vacheron (not sure the current version of overseas but a 2006 chrono I bought the movement was Frederick Piguet) and surely AP. Glad it wasn't GP (regardless the fact that is one of the oldest manufacturers and with astonishing pieces - 3 gold bridges etc) tend to drop as soon as you buy them even more than this. Is somewhat obvious to me (you've compared it enough with AP) that you wanted an AP. Might have worth holding on a bit longer and get the AP.
I just love that this is what you bought. The slight misalignment in the bezel screws does make me squint just ever so slightly. It's a pity that cannot be done more precisely post service.
it could be - easily corrected though. The screws are actually nuts and have a squared shank that fit's inot a squared hole in the bezel/case so they can't turn much anyway.
Nice watch. Baume & Mercier Riviera would be a good lower cost alternative
But not as well finished and lesser movement. .. which is a large part of what he's looking for
I have bought and sell watches using eBay. As long as you bought with authenticity warranty, you have nothing to worry about
My husband and I have bought and sold so many watches from ebay! We love it, specially when they have the authenticity is guaranteed. And yes, research the seller well before buying. but overall, I would HIGHLY recommend!

Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! MAMACOO watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
And I'm over here feeling guilty about buying a LE Orient Bambino for $300.

I have bought a few luxury watches off of ebay, and I have sold a few as well. I have never had a problem.
The risky stuff includes quartz Tag Heuer. The Formula 1 models have many fakes.
My last watch was inspected in Indiana.

And there’s also Casio Edifice S107 or S108 for under $150 !
This goes a long way towards assuaging any fears of purchasing such items from eBay.
As for the watch..sighs. Chopard's part of the wristocracy, snuggled up with others like Piaget in the top drawer😍👍
I used to HATE Rado and Breitling, now I want a Rado and a Breitling more than almost anything. Same thing with Vacheron, good thing I am poor. :))))

I have a Diastar Original as my daily. It’s a fantastic watch. Keeps great time and still looks brand new. Rado makes an excellent product
Breitling feel cheap in your hands once you have an omega or a Rolex.
I have bought both of my watches from EBAY. Both have been wonderful transactions and come at a great price (Omega Speed master and JLC Ultra Thin Moon)

This Chopard is a fantastic watch. The numerals have a solidity and heft which is not present on other watches. Chopard has engineered an unobtrusive 41mm that is both elegant and robust. And you got this at 40% off - Andrew, what do you have to complain about !!
Spot on mate. Having purchased the Alpine Eagle over the XPS, I too agree the thin bezel, and too small small seconds hand (which is also too high), and bigger dial, make the XPS a less beautiful and aesthetically proportional watch. Congrats to you. Also 100% on the k drama reference.
He sounds as operatic as a Raymond Weill Maestro, a Visconti Watch Opera and a Seiko Presage Porcelain Arata. And the watch reviews aren't bad either.
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the MaMaCoo has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
I bought a watch which costs £789 for £475 on eBay - immaculate condition. I wear it every day since then and lost interest in other watches.

The bezel screws are actually hollow nuts with a squared shank that fit into a corresponding squared hole in the bezel so that they cannot rotate by themselves The caseback screws screw into the bezel nuts.

Ive sold and bought quite a few watches now. most probably made a loss in total until i most recently bought a very rare Tudor chronograph pink dial at retail price and sold it on ebay the same day it arrived for more than double the amount.. I do however regret selling it now as it was absolutely stunning.

@Andrew Morgan Watch IMHO - you have bought a luxury casual watch of high quality and craftsmanship from a well known respected Swiss Watch House brand with good heritage. It is in a league that directly compares with a PP Nautilus, VC Overseas, AP Royal Oak, GP Laureato and others of the Gerald Genta esque styling. Your watch is unique that combines similar features. The price of a watch should not dictate how good it is; far from it. There are some outliers out there in the same way as yours is and that is a good facet not a bad one. I have some of those in my collection. You have bought this piece with rationale thought with all your knowledge and experience. Time for you to enjoy and do not look back, otherwise, you may turn into a pillar of salt!

Ever since I bought a watch from AMZWATCH , My question is if it's this hard to tell them apart, what is the point of owning an authentic watch?
The was the last watch bought before I sold all my watches and got out of the game (I feel liberated by not having anything on my wrist). The Chopard AE is beautiful and the video doesn’t do it justice.
The problem with the watch industry is that people push you into buying watches because they are “part of the holy trinity”, etc. TBH, it’s all noise. Buy what you like.
There is a very nice AD here in the Algarve who does only Chopard. I expressed my surprise at his choice and, starting with a very well-meaning "Ahhhh, Senhor...", he said: "one day" (assuming when I finally grow up...) "you will understand...". I hope I do! Great stuff, extremely informative and eBay should pay you A LOT for this!

Insanely tempting? Not for me. Anything over £300 and I'm out. Never saw the point, especially when you can buy a decent watch that probably looks better than whatever it is you're interested in for 10x or even 100x the price these days.
