    I really like your vlogs! It's clear that you're having fun writing this story. I also like that you're genuinely feeling good about your writing and that you believe in yourself, even though you're at the beginning of your journey. It's super inspiring and encouraging to watch!
    I would usually do my creative stuff in the late evening, when everyone goes to sleep and there's silence and no interruptions

    called out within the first 30 seconds of the video 😅😅 the only time of day that i haven't written at yet is between 2:30 - 5am. not really sure what time of day is best for me since i can write at any time depending on my motivation, but i'd say i tend to prefer writing later in the day

    I cannot write after 10pm unless I'm feeling particularly antsy to get words on the paper, otherwise I can write at any time. I need to get into my project more though, I've really been slacking this week.

    I wake up at 2 am to write! 🫣
    My preferred writing time is 100% early in the morning before I have to go to work or do anything else in my day, and have been in bed between 6-7pm lately. I'm usually too tired after to work to do anything else, so mid or late day writing is not usually something that works for me.

    • @briellewrites
      @briellewrites  7 месяцев назад

      omg wow!!!! i love that you wake up at 2 am to write thats so impressive. and here i was thinking writing at 8AM was early hahaha. but that totally makes sense, i am often too drained to write after work too.

    • @studyofnoel
      @studyofnoel 7 месяцев назад

      @@briellewrites Yeah when you said it was CRAZY that you woke up at 7:30 am I had to do a double take 💀 But circadian rhythms are wild. I genuinely will get cranky and delirious by 9-10pm if I'm still awake, but then there will be people who stay UP until 2 am to write. What's important is to remember that everyone is doing their own thing, and that's the beauty of creativity

    • @briellewrites
      @briellewrites  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@studyofnoel HAHAHA if you saw my normal sleep schedule you'd understand why 7:30 is so mind-blowing to me lolol. for a while it felt like my body was literally STUCK not being able to function before like 8:30!!! nuts how its all about what your body used to. the late night writers are even more of a mystery to me, my brain shuts off at midnight hard stop lol. I love hearing about other pals schedules and processes, so fun, thanks for sharing :)

    Sounds like your instincts are getting sharper on where to trim exposition fat on things. Or at least shuffle it to a better spot. I can't remember if you ever mentioned being an overwriter, but having the extra material for a brief period is very helpful in knowing the specific things that DON'T work.

    • @briellewrites
      @briellewrites  7 месяцев назад

      Yes!!! I actually am usually an underwriter but as I’ve gotten further in the manuscript my chapters have been way more fleshed out, and I totally agree! Knowing what doesn’t work can be just as valuable so I’m glad I tested out the scene

    When I write, I usually like to make sure the screen is full-width. That way, the text is big enough for me to read.
    I can read small text fine; I just don't like reading small text. Too much eye strain.

    I prefer to write at night, after 10pm, because is when my family is sleeping and i can concentrate without being interrupted. But i would love to write in the mornings because my body can't handle sleepless nights anymore 😂

    Ya girl 🙌 It made my day to see you uploaded a video. Last spring, I only wrote in the morning right before my 8 to 4 job. Now I work in the evenings, so I tend to write in the afternoons. Is it a characters profile in Notion I see in your tumbnail? I was hoping to see more about this in your video. Maybe next video 🫣

    We can see your screen and what you have written. Heh-heh.
    But that's okay.
    It's not like an editor or literary agent will look your work up and say that, "oopsies, this is published already".
    It's in video format.

    Honestly, i prefer to write early. my best writing times is usually when i get up at 7AM and just. write all day. i did that a few yrs ago and finished a rough draft in a couple weeks. it wasn't GREAT, but i finished it. however, i find it difficult to go to bed early enough to get *up* that early, and tho i've tried, my sleep lately has just been so awful that i'm staying in bed till 10 which is just. blegh. i don't really like writing between 4pm & 8pm. smth about the evening just makes me want to relax and be lazy. tho once 10pm hits, i might write some more. tho it varies from day to day. today, i decided to try and write using dictation and got almost 6k words written which was INSANE! they absolutely were not nearly as good as they would be if i wrote them just typing, but i keep telling myself the 1st draft is me telling ME the story. that's it.
    also i LOVE the idea of your magic system. a relationship with magic is super fascinating to me too, and i like the idea that it can rebel against you if it wants, things like that. super cool!!

    • @briellewrites
      @briellewrites  7 месяцев назад +1

      1ST DRAFT IS ME TELLING ME THE STORY.... omg that is brilliant. I love that perspective on 1st drafts... im totally going to be turning to that whenever I find myself self-editing. i feel you on struggling to go to sleep early enough to wake up at the time you want. ive been curious to dry dictation, im not sure how I'd like it but I feel like I need to give it a try!! ive seen some authors rave about it. finishing a rough draft in a couple weeks is wild. I love when I get to write all day too, makes immersion so much better!!!
      and omg yay, im glad the magic system sounds interesting!! that's super affirming. thanks, I always enjoy reading ur comments :)
