Happy birthday Brielle, All the best wishes!
Happy birthday!! 🎂💗🌷
Happy birthday! 🎂🎉🎊
Happy birthday, by the way.
Ahh this video is so fun!! I'm also SUCH a sucker for slowburn and enemies to lovers when they're done well!!
Loveee that great taste 😉
Omg! Happy Birthday! This was such a fun video idea! My all-time fav trope is found family/band of misfits. It warms my heart and I sometimes find myself craving a story where the love is more platonic rather than romantic.
Thanks Cody!! Yes I love the platonic love too :’) such a wholesome trope
i love how you just slid in my opinion on some of these tropes lol but i totally agree with your thoughts on the "right person, wrong time" trope! if that's what they're going with then they're not the right person! if they wanted to they would bestie
Prime example of if they wanted to they would 👏🏼👏🏼 but yes had to insert your hot takes hahaha
It's so exciting when you post!!
Aw yay! Honored!!!
YAYY BRI POSTED OMG‼️‼️‼️

Hahaha I love that! Thank you, so glad you’re here!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIELLE!!!!!!!!! im so excited for this video!!
my favorite will always be enemies to lovers and slow burn
Yay!) I hope you enjoyed it!
Love this video!!! I also mostly agree with your opinions lol, my absolute favorite trope is slow burn. Please read The curse of sins by Kate Dramis, I think you’ll love it! It’s high fantasy with slow burn enemies to lovers, chosen one, forced proximity and morally grey characters, and the second book comes out today✨
Ooh this sounds great!
Oh happy birthday to my favourite authortuber❤, I'm only quarter of the way in but if thats your tastes in books then i can definitely see myself eating up your future books
Aw thank you!
always running to watch your videos when you post!
Aw yay! Thank you!
Happy Birthday!!! So happy to have found your channel🎉
Thanks for being here ❤
happy birthday brielle!
Thank you sm!$
Yeees! I've been excited for this since your community post.
I love the chosen one if it's done well. I think I'm one of the few people who prefers friends to lovers lol. I'm so picky though because I also get mad when it happens if I feel they should've remained good friends because I don't think every pair of friends need to be together just because seem like they'd work well as a couple.
Edit: Ope. I didn't see your pinned comment. Happy Birthday!
So interesting that you prefer friends to lovers 👀👀 and thank you!!
Happy birthday 🎉💕 Ngl our rankings are scarily similar 😂
lol love that
happy birthday brielle 🎂🎉📖!!
thanks so much!
Happy birthday! 🥳
thank you!!
Happy Birthday and Happy Writing!
Thank you!!
Such a fun video!!! Love it ❤!!!
Thanks ❤❤
"Depending on the execution" is surely the truth, but it's not as difficult as one might think for the vast majority of them. Either botching a trope is evidence of the writer not trying, or that's just the savagery of my inner critic.
*'Grumpy x Sunshine'* has strong ties to another trope, the 'Manic Pixie Dream Girl' which for me is exemplified by Katharine Hepburn pestering the shit out of Cary Grant in Bringing Up Baby. Howard Hawks (the director of that film) went on record saying he made the mistake of not including at least one character sane enough to comment on the insanity, but I believed it worked anyway because Hepburn and Grant brought countless detailed layers to their personalities beyond them being polar opposites. They're insane, but they possess room for self-awareness and this feeds organically into their arcs.
*'Accidental Pregnancy'* had the misfortune of being a go-to for teen comedies during the 70s and 80s. Applied with a lack of thought, as it often was, makes the skin crawl. Fast Times at Ridgemont High came the closest to hitting a storytelling bullseye but (in my opinion) didn't. In fact the trope didn't work until 25 years later with Juno, and only because writer Diablo Cody made it the premise around which the entire film was structured.
*'Enemies to Lovers'* is built on one logical starting point: a bad first impression. So I appreciate you putting it on the same tier as 'Slow Burn'. You establish to the reader how things between these two characters DON'T work. The more it seemingly doesn't work, and the more uphill the battle, the more love will feel earned WHEN they discover more about themselves and earn it. The only time I ever toyed with the trope was during my plan for a 20-book series where each book would be 600 - 1000 pages and the romance arc could truly be slow-burned for 3/4 - 7/8 of the series as a background element.
*'Love Triangle'* is a tale as old as time. The trick is giving all 3 characters the same level of development, otherwise one side of the triangle will be ruled out immediately as pointless. The TV series Veronica Mars started losing my interest by the end of season 2 because a) they tried to sneak the triangle up on us, and b) [MILD SPOILER ALERT, BY THE WAY] they casually wrote out one character the minute the triangle hit a logistic roadblock ... the writers didn't challenge themselves.
*'Second Chance',* strangely enough, works best in comedy where you can actively parody what previous generations thought was acceptable in a relationship. Or, similarly, you have something like Satan x Saddam Hussein in the film South Park BL&U where one character is such a rampant narcissist they turn their plea for a second chance into a musical number.
These are just some observations on the tropes you picked out, and I enjoyed the food for thought.
happy birthday!!!!!🎉🎉
thank you!!
