50% of the video was eddy yelling “nAH” and about to start a full on argument about rhapsody in blue

I love seeing old savage Brett again 😍 that energy and naughty mouth... I just LOVE it!
I've missed it more than I was aware of
Further on in the video I wondered if they were drinking something besides coffee.....
After practicing 40 hours yesterday, brett and eddy each got negative 16 hours for sleep, thus they had to drink at least 40 cups of coffee in order to put in their 40 hours again today while simultaneously filming. The amount of caffeine currently coursing through their veins must be enormous 😂

As a cellist, pachelbel's canon going straight to F tier gives me IMMENSE JOY.
Are you sick of playing a continuo?
even as a wedding attendee i'm sick of it
That and the Dvorak concerto going to A
But its so good
I feel like someone should say this just to clarify: Many of the pieces were rated quite low not because they are bad musically (many of them are very advanced musically, 'genius' even), but because they are overplayed/overused by mainstream culture and contribute to "classical music stereotypes." This includes (but isn't limited to) Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz, Mozart Symphony No. 40, the Flight of the Bumblebee, Handel's Messiah and the Four Seasons. I believe I can speak for TwoSet in saying that this tier list is more based off a piece's reputation and its representation in society than on its musicality. Besides, I can't bear the thought of people misunderstanding this and telling someone that "TwoSet thinks Mozart is bad" or something. That is definitely not what is happening here.

Indeed, flight of the bumblebee is a piece of genius-level musicality
Indeed, they even disclaimer this is their opinion and subjective which mean okay bcs everyone have different opinion.

@@babithehuman2505 These guys have virtually no experience or awareness of opera, so that‘s not surprising.
Yeh, but they don't know operas.
I am so addicted to twosetviolins videos that I don't understand anything they said but still manage to love it somehow
There’s no viola concertos because they’re all ranked above S-tier
I stan this comment!
There... _are_ viola concertos?
hahaha yes!!! I'm planning on doing this video but then what about the viola pieces huh??? 😂 x
you cant offend tchaicovsky violin concerto in front of brett ever. its his baby LMFAO
This moment when you realize TwoSet didn't put Liszt to a list
Brett is so energetic here! After what he's been through, i'm so happy he is now healthy and kickin'. Love to see them both like this. Trully lighten up my mood for some reason :D
What has he been through? I loved his energy in this vid!
He got really really sick around december last year, they didn't say what it was but we know it was at least partially due/worsened to overworking himself. I think it got progressively worse over november and then he was at the hospital for a couple weeks(?) and then took a while to recover. There are videos explaining, they had to take a month break from videos.
@@shaetane hello again! I’ll appreciate if you don’t spread misinformation that Brett’s sickness was due to overworking. It’s the other way round, his overworking worsen his existing sickness. From their description of Brett’s symptom and the treatments, his sickness was quite serious and you shouldn’t undermine it by saying “overworking” :)
Did they just have their first fight over rhapsody in blue? JDBJSBDD
i understand eddys outrage when brett said he didn't like rhapsody in blue... HOW DO YOU NOT FEEL IT IN YOUR _SOUL_
You two had such different opinions about some of these pieces, you really should have made two separate tier lists and then compared
do you see this Eddy and Brett? challenge of the top tier lists !!!
Eddy’s laughing at the end is like every single first grader boys when they hear something “funny“ and “try” not to laugh, lol. Yah know what I mean?
It's kinda sad how "overplayed" status has seemingly ruined some pieces in people's minds. Like, I can't help but wonder how this ranking would have gone if that bias didn't exist. It's interesting to think about...
8:47 *tchaikovski liked the D*
I mean he is not wrong considering tchaikovski was gay haha
(Also he has a concerto in D)
Brett and Eddy: *Desperately trying to not upset the gods of classical music*
Eddy: ”Could you imagine getting married”
Brett: ”No”
More comments about this please
If Brett *despises* jazz that much, how would he do if they are going to do a *tier rank list of famous pop songs* ?
He wouldn't know any of them.
They would all be ranked G.
I’m sad Schoenberg’s violin concerto wasn’t here, but glad because I’m spared seeing where you’d rate it!
I can’t describe the energy in this video other than “jazz energy”
Twoset: *doesn’t include a single piano piece*
Me, a pianist: *Cries in D Minor*
Twoset: *puts Mendelssohn violin concerto below S ( or at least A) tier*
Me, a human: *stabs myself in the heart in E minor*
Twoset: *argues over Rhapsody in Blue*
Me, a soul: *ascends to escape this slanderous, calumnious, blasphemous sacrilege*
Twoset: *puts Vivaldi below the tier list*
Me, a disembodied being: *reincarnates and grabs a GIGANTIC PITCHFORK AND AN ARMY*
I really agree with their view on Mendelssohn violin concerto. Some concertos manage to make me forget I'm listening to a concerto, they hit me deeper, more personally. I really like Mendelssohn violin concerto (and wouldn't put it below B by any mean) but it does feel just like a music piece, and not that much of a journey, it doesn't manage to transcend itself. Don't know if that makes any sense.
@@TheAskald There is a lot of music in the Mendelssohn violin concerto. Problem is it is usually the first 'proper' concerto that most violinists play as it isn't quite as hard or long as most of the other famous concertos. As a result every violinist knows it like the back of their hand and probably has some slightly tortured childhood memories associated with it. It has also been recorded an awful lot by every single famous violinist and the problem when something gets recorded a lot is that the performances all seem to gravitate to the same general end product and performances end up becoming less creative and individual. But if you really get into the score and decide what the music means to yourself as a violinist I think you can make it a very rewarding journey.
Personally I would take it over the Tchaikovsky though which I find very tedious and shallow. Have played the orchestral violin/viola parts for the Tchaikovksy far more times than I care to remember and usually find myself just wishing for the end to come already half way through the slow movement.
Dvorak cello concerto is dull as dishwater though. A is way too high imo.
Mahler 5 is way too long and has plenty of sections which don't really add anything musically. The Adagietto is also way overplayed as an individual movement (which probably tells you that people don't necessarily want to listen to the whole symphony...)
@@maniamuse1319 It's really interesting to see it analyzed from this perspective. That said I only discovered this era of music a few years ago and I was formulating an opinion (about the Mendelssohn vc) as a simple listener unaware of the usual context / relationship violinists generally have towards it, I just happen to have ended on the same conclusions. If I try to put it into words, to me this concerto is like listening to a story, it feels distant, it feels like an act, while for some of my favorite pieces, it feels closer to me, more personal, real, it resonates more with me.
I understand how one can find the Tchai tedious and shallow, it's really the epitome of the saturated lyrical romantic piece, among the 15-ish violin concerto I'm familiar with. I get how it's not for everyone.
@@maniamuse1319 if you find the Tchaikovsky repetitive, maybe try the Auer version? After all, great concertos can often be boring for the orchestra (yes, Chopin, I am looking at you). I find Tchaikovsky's violin concerto one of his more inspired works, works in that repetition do not make the music tedious and boring.
@@TheAskaldI mean I totally understand what you're saying so no worries! But that said I just couldn't disagree more, I think the music of the mendelssohn concerto is just the embodiment of passion, and a feverish excitement for life and whatever endeavours you're hoping to accomplish. It sometimes even helps me get out of a bad mood feeling down etc., or at least makes feeling malaise and depression more bearable. I even love the second movement which, honestly, is one of the only concerto second movements that I actually like, let alone don't sometimes feel like skipping. I think it's completely effusive, and imbued with emotion and power and I think it absolutely captures a certain range of feelings that no other (violin) concerto I have heard so far captures. Sibelius definitely captures a brilliant range of emotions, but I think that the ones in question with that concerto are just a completely different range. I also just really appreciate the musical intricacy of the first movement, and the way that the melody weaves between the soloist and the orchestra so seamlessly and harmoniously - in a way that's much less separated than others. Instead of being a standalone orchestra and a standalone soloist working together as a team of separate entities - the Mendelssohn concerto feels almost as if the orchestra is just the inevitable amplification of the inner feelings that the solo melody is hoping to convey. My favourite version is the Heifetz /Münch recording - I think it has the most laser-like focus and brings out every single note so that you can really appreciate the complexity of the harmonic layers which I think are incredibly beautiful, and that Heifetz's performance most embodies the 'molto appassionato' direction of the first movement throughout the entirety of the concerto. Perhaps violinists are overexposed to it, but as a pianist I honestly just love it.
