It's not a bug, it's a actual feature from the sabot shells, the "hollow shell" that you see is just the container for the sabot which is dropped once you fired

Yes, sadly only M392A2 and DM13 have the discarding sabots in warthunder. all the other APDS shells don't have these modeled. 1:23
