    Great Vid and great catches!.
    One tip though, you really should try to avoid holding Flatties vertically like that, dangling by their lips. You really need to support their belly when lifting them.
    The unfortunate thing with Flatties, particularly the larger Duskies is they have a very weak stomach membrane that isn't designed to support their body weight when held in a vertical position.
    What unfortunately happens more often than not when held vertically like that is that their stomachs tear away inside and despite them being released, they will often die a very slow and gruesome death, 2 -3 days after the interaction. (Once that mebrane tears away, it can't heal).
    The best way to hold a flatty, is to hold them in their natural horozontal position, and have a hand under their belly supporting their weight. This will lead to a much higer moratility rate on any you choose to release.
    Here is a link to a vid that gives a pretty good run down on it :)

      WOW, thanks for the detailed explanation. I knew holding anyfish by its head without supporting its body was bad, but to to this detail. Thanks for this, I will be more careful next time, and will also pass this info on in my travels

      @@YAWK_YAWK No worries mate, I was shocked when I learned too! A child of the 80's, I grew up seeing pictures in magazines and photos of anglers hoisting Flatties up by their chins all the time.
      Being a predominantly catch and release fisho I was mortified when I learned the damage I'd probably caused to fish I'd released because of my lack of understanding.
      It's all eductation right?
      And for every angler that passes the information along, the better informed we all are as a community and the more conservation we can apply to our sport to keep it sustainable.
      Big fan of your channel too! Love it!
      Do keep up the awesome work!

    Been following your posts on Facebook, any tips on how to find spots for Snapper? Catching decent flatties, bream etc in the passage but can’t seem to score a snapper just yet. New boat with a decent sounder but yet to figure out how to use it to my advantage haha

      @Karzy1992
      Thanks for watching the Videos. You have to find the bait to find the Snapper, having a decent sounder will help with this. I fish in 4m normally for Snapper, you have to be stealthy, turn your music off, lower your anchor slowly so you don't make too much noise, and don't bash around in the boat, esp is you have a tin boat. I promise, once you work it out, you will never come home without a feed

      Thanks for the great tips! I have a Lowrance HDS7, however very new to the sounder side of things but will do some research and look for the bait! Thanks

    Mate really good editing and good like moderating, so everyone always knows whats going on and with what line and lure you are fishing. Sandy is sooooo cute

      thanks for watching another vid, first time taking her out on the boat. She was whining at the start from me casting the lures, but she thankfully chilled out after a bit.

    @Yawk_Yawk what do you take into account before changing spots?

    • @YAWK_YAWK
      @YAWK_YAWK  3 месяца назад +2

      there's a few different reasons, sometimes it could be the size of the fish, if the fish are on the bite, the tide time and the time of the day. There's heaps more little factors that contribute but these are the main things.

      @@YAWK_YAWK so if the fish are biting in one location it’s likely they are in other locations so you move to up grade?

    • @YAWK_YAWK
      @YAWK_YAWK  3 месяца назад +2

      Yea, well if I'm getting a small fish every cast then I might move. Or you just start throwing bigger lures. If the fish are biting in one place, it doesn't relatively mean every where else would be good.
