HIGH SPEED JIGGING and BAIT FISHING - Brisbane
In today's video. I took the longboat offshore to try and find some big fish, utilising a fast retrieve and metal slugs. After a few hours I moved to creating a large burley trail, cubing up a previously caught Tuna to bring the fish on!!!!!! But unfortunately had a massive problem trying to get the fish past the sharks. Also had 2 whales pop up right next to us while trolling in shallow water. We had to pull the lines in and get out of there !!!! LOL

  • @AADCOA
    @AADCOA 2 месяца назад

    Great Vid and great catches!. One tip though, you really should try to avoid holding Flatties vertically like that, dangling by their lips. You really need to support their belly when lifting them. The unfortunate thing with Flatties, particularly the larger Duskies is they have a very weak stomach membrane that isn't designed to support their body weight when held in a vertical position. What unfortunately happens more often than not when held vertically like that is that their stomachs tear away inside and despite them being released, they will often die a very slow and gruesome death, 2 -3 days after the interaction. (Once that mebrane tears away, it can't heal). The best way to hold a flatty, is to hold them in their natural horozontal position, and have a hand under their belly supporting their weight. This will lead to a much higer moratility rate on any you choose to release. Here is a link to a vid that gives a pretty good run down on it :) ruclips.net/video/oUgsjtmvSV8/видео.html

      WOW, thanks for the detailed explanation. I knew holding anyfish by its head without supporting its body was bad, but to to this detail. Thanks for this, I will be more careful next time, and will also pass this info on in my travels

      @@YAWK_YAWK No worries mate, I was shocked when I learned too! A child of the 80's, I grew up seeing pictures in magazines and photos of anglers hoisting Flatties up by their chins all the time. Being a predominantly catch and release fisho I was mortified when I learned the damage I'd probably caused to fish I'd released because of my lack of understanding. It's all eductation right? And for every angler that passes the information along, the better informed we all are as a community and the more conservation we can apply to our sport to keep it sustainable. Big fan of your channel too! Love it! Do keep up the awesome work!

    • @YAWK_YAWK
      @YAWK_YAWK 2 месяца назад

      @Karzy1992 Thanks for watching the Videos. You have to find the bait to find the Snapper, having a decent sounder will help with this. I fish in 4m normally for Snapper, you have to be stealthy, turn your music off, lower your anchor slowly so you don't make too much noise, and don't bash around in the boat, esp is you have a tin boat. I promise, once you work it out, you will never come home without a feed

      Close to. Although, as you know shipping channels run all throughout the bay, so a ship's always gonna be in the shot even if I'm far away.

      Just had a look at your Vids, they are great! My first boat was a tuff tender when I was 9 or 10 years old, had a 6hp, used to get soaking wet. Looks like those spray chines make a massive difference.

    Great videos mate - reason they don't let you use the local wood at the camp site is that if everyone did it would be de-nuded really quickly and the local flora and fauna need the windfall to survive and thrive - good on you to bringing your own :-). Yeah use that cooker case on its edge to provide a wind break, Good on MUM for looking after the food for you young fellas.

      Did not know that, it sounded like a silly rule. But makes sense i guess. Thanks for that! I don't think the ranger believed me when i told him we brought it with us.
