Every few videos I second guess myself if Big Yellow was like that all along I ain't complaining though, the content is still just as good as it always was.
"Good lighting Big Yellow isn't real, they can't hurt you" Good lighting Big Yellow: 48:07 whats the point of watching Big Yellow if the lights aren't also big yellow
Hey Big Yellow, dunno if you'll see this or if it will get lost in the sea of comments, but as someone who first got into your videos because of the banned strategies in pokemon video, I adore the progression of your looks and fashion as you became more and more confident in yourself. So even if this video is about pretty much tearing down my own favourite worms game I grew up with, I think this is the best you have looked yet. It may not seem like much to you, but the fact you became more and more comfortable in expressing yourself really helped me get the bursts of confidence I needed to get past some rather rough times in my life. Keep up the good work! I'll be here for the next video about the cool lego piece despite never even having owned a lego set in my life!
"On console they're paid DLC, but on PC they're free DLC" This miiiight have to do with the policies of the consoles at the time--the Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead 2 also had all of its free updates paid DLC because Microsoft literally would not allow them to release new maps for free
The multiplayer delay was kindve fun because we'd just hear "Ah shit...", and 5 seconds later watch them blow up their own worm. The ninja rope tech was also pretty cool, just trying to essentially trickshot our worms around construction maps and what not. But I would assume that's not just unique to Ultimate Mayhem.
Something I really enjoy in WUM is that you can use weapons in the air if you launch yourself with the ninja rope. You can do that in 2D worms as well, but in WUM you can set up crazy trickshots like using the sniper rifle in the air. You can't aim left or right in the air so you have to get the right angle but its pretty rad. Of course, thanks to the delay, your ecstatic reaction to hitting it makes no sense to the others in the lobby until 7 seconds later LOL
Ahh the good ol' Sonic Adventure issue of the most modern day accessible version being the worst. Always hate it. Ok I was not expecting Yellow to actually bring up this comparison, wow.
bless your entire look also I’ve only played a tiny bit of 2D Worms so learning about some stuff with the 3D games before I try them myself is really fucking cool, thanks for the vid!

Thank you for your goofy, self indulgent videos because the best content creators are the ones who exclusively talk about the things they care about with 0 compromises ❤
This is, to my knowledge, and ive been literally looking for a month, the only video in English that details the differences between Worms 3D, 4 and ultimate mayhem. It's pretty convenient you posted it rn!
Just wanted to let you know how happy seeing your uploads makes me. It's so cozy to hear you talk about literally anything. I have never played any 3D Worms game but I've watched 100% of all your Worms content.
this is the kind of thing to care about. the more we lose the little things, the worse games feel as a whole. caring about the intent behind levels and design choices in one of your favorite games I think shows the love and the level of joy it brings to the table, gameplay and otherwise. from the minutea to the "how did you expect anybody to earnestly play and enjoy this new version?" and I think the worst part is, maybe they just didn't care, didn't think people would play the levels from a previous game in the series they feel is superseded by that most current entry, for more than an hour or so. and that really bums me out, seeing something like that in any form. disregarding the appreciation for the original and foundational entry received by both those who created and enjoyed it. it makes me glad to see this sort of thing talked about, more than you know.
got confused from seeing a big yellow video recommended to me thinking “wait did i miss their worms video or something” and BAM 6 minutes ago upload, i am eating good today hot damn
37:18 my only guess is that in coming back to the mission to remake it they saw that Big Lad always died drowning in the pot and thought "Oh, this worm here works as a way of showing the player what's gonna happen if they don't keep mind of the water" and either unknowingly or willingly turned his death into an omen. And I guess when the prospect of making Big Lad a normal spawn came up they decided against it because it would disrupt the long-beloved pre-established flow of the mission at least a bit? Idk, they didn't care about the physics, I'm just throwing ideas from what knowledge I'm getting from your videos, because I found the change somewhat interesting.
What fucking sucks is that we would've actually gotten both Worms 3D and Worms 4 weapons in the game but was removed during beta of WUM, either way, we are not getting another 3D game ever, people who worked on the series has long left Team17, this doesn't mean someone passionate about 3D worms, owns a game studio can collab with Team17 to make a new one.
Still have no idea why they gave up on 3D worms games. I grew up playing Worms 4... It was great. Modern worms just went back to 2D for some reason and it just feels like a step back.
Genuinely I think the 3D worms formula is so close to brilliant, with a little more time, polish, and better hardware I think it could really be something special. I love 2D Worms to bits but idk why they haven't touched 3D while they were willing to make Revolution 3 times back to back
I grew up on 3D Worms and genuinely can't properly get used to 2D ones. I tried Armageddon but something just doesn't feel right for me. Well, that, and the fact that I have a skill issue. :/
Your content's so good that I could listen to you narrating about literally anything, even stuff I have zero prior experience with - so getting a video from you that's about stuff I *am* familiar with is even better! Personally I've had experience with all the 3D Worms games EXCEPT for the first one, so learning about how Ultimate Mayhem handled that game's content and what got lost in translation is super interesting. Great vid as usual! I do have one nitpick though, on the topic of maps. The map you show on screen in 1:01:50 is present in a remade version in both W4M and WUM as "Re-Submission". You unlock it by finishing Deathmatch Challenge 10 (which is actually also played on that map). Alongside that, earlier on in Deathmatch Challenge 5 you unlock a remake of "Hold Until Relieved" in the same fashion, named "Hold Until Reworked". Both maps lose their military theme in favour of a construction theme in WUM, but the overall geometry/layout is roughly the same, besides "Hold Until Reworked" including more solid ground to expand the playable surface area. I'm fairly convinced they made this change to accommodate WUM's more slidey physics and faster movement, which in my opinion kinda makes sense when we're talking about reworking old content into new context.
I remember buying this game at launch and the game went to black screen 9/10 times, and on the 1 time if did boot up, it booted up in spanish for some reason.
It's been a hot minute since youtube recommend one of your videos, so I'd forgotten that your casual, conversational format makes you a great listen for when im doing stuff around the house. Kudos.
New Big Yellow video just dropped let's gooooo (also you look absolutely stunning!!) Big fan of the worm names by the way, especially the one that's just named "Porygon" in a sea of inspired worm names.

16:13 "I wish I had more concrete evidence on this one" and then it immediately cuts to concrete evidence of a worm falling over and dying immediately like a Family Guy cutaway gag
46:57 Probably doesn’t help that you’re trying to hit the second and third of these with the parachute when your pickup hitbox is only on the worm itself. Though frankly I think that still reads as a part of the active character and that would totally work in so many other games, I would put the blame on Team17 for not making it clear that doesn’t work. Or for not just letting that work.
I struggled to watch this video. Was it cringe or badly made or anything of the sort. No. It was that rvery time it cut back to face can i had to take a second for my heart to catch up. Absolutely stunning
big yellow is out here slaying all over the place like damn.. you're slay and you talk about semi-niche topics good for watching while doing something else at the same time O.O waogh..
Great video! I always enjoy seeing you talk about Worms. One of the things I miss the most in Ultimate Mayhem is the slot machine that added various gameplay effects, like larger explosion radius, in the multiplayer game lobby. And of course the awesome menu music. I am so glad I still have my CD of Worms 3D.
Funny how that works. Playing through the 3D Campaign in Ultimate Mayhem was making me think back to the missions ranking video and how most of them would probably be overall worse in their Ultimate incarnations with how less fun they were feeling (Thanks a lot, To Boldly Go...), and then this shows up the next day. Pretty good watch! And yay for more Worms content, too. If there's still more to be talked about regarding Worms 3D, I'd love to see it!
The fixed damage on dymmite into shotgun thing was a staple for me but I kinda hated it because it felt like it could oversimplify the game, love the content by the way.
I’m with you on respecting the buffed poison, though I’m coming more from an RPG perspective. Poison is often a status effect I just ignore and maybe cure if it’s minimal effort: it’s usually not too bothersome in battle because it doesn’t restrict you and is more of an annoyance outside of battle for the games that keep it ticking down in the field. So I respect the games that make poison actually dangerous, doing enough damage per turn to chunk your health and really needing to be addressed. I think Trails as a series is one of my favorite examples, where poison is legit dangerous, but in return regen is equally powerful (as demonstrated by our lord and savior Cold Steel 1 & 2 Elliot Craig).
This might seem like some dumb thing to complain about but when this game came out i didn't even know about 3D and 4. So I was actually curious about what this game was "improving" on. Also i have been watching for many years and I think you are cool 😁
Going to be really annoying and pedantic here, but if you're not going to consider the piracy option, then emulating _also_ requires a physical copy since you'd need to dump it to emulate it. If you're going down the piracy route then, like, you can just pirate the PC version. Granted, pirating an iso and running it on PCSX2 or Dolphin is a lot easier because, at least in my experience, W3D's PC port has issues running on modern hardware (maybe it always had issues, idk I played it on Xbox as a kid). The pre-rendered cutscenes wouldn't play (an incredibly important part of my nostalgia), it kept crashing, and I had an easier time getting it to run in widescreen on PCSX2 (which is also just where I play it now) than on the actual PC version which is just... funny. At least I got the important PAL-exclusive _Shake Your Coconuts_ playing on the PC version before I gave up on it. Yes, I do use a PAL version of the game on PCSX2 despite the 50Hz because _Shake Your Coconuts_ is that important to my Worms 3D experience. It's such a shame that Team17 refuses to touch Worms 3D. As a big racing game guy there's a very big reason that old racing games often get abandoned and it's that they need to organise licensing for all the real cars (and often music too but that's not as vital to the games as cars). In most cases this costs too much money for the expected return and in some cases it's downright impossible. Key example: NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 featured the Carbon Motors E7. When Hot Pursuit Remastered dropped in 2020 the car had to be cut from the game because Carbon Motors ceased operations entirely in 2013. All this is to say that, outside of the aforementioned Junior Senior song, there is no such barrier to rereleasing Worms 3D on steam as far as I can tell. They could even just use a third party crack and I wouldn't complain (after all, a few big name publishers like Rockstar have done it. Ironically Rockstar's own DRM-free version of Manhunt they made after getting call out on this was worse than the cracked version). I really appreciate this video for the, like, analytical approach to the differences between W3D, W4M & WUM. I mean, I always appreciate a good "how new version is worse than original" type video but as a person who literally bought WUM because it was advertised as having W3D's campaign and it was available on steam while W3D wasn't... idk where I'm going with this but you get what I mean, right? It's both cathartic as a fan of W3D and genuinely useful information
In all my years of fun games and such. Worms 3D Games is one of the best things i enjoyed. from PC Till PS3. Such a shame they don't make more of those open world games anymore. even though there's still some people or modders playing. i do miss the fun times. Worms 3D was so much fun as i liked the weapons a lot more. uspecially the Uzi. the missions are tiresome. I Bought all 3D Worms game on my pc at a bargain bin. a triple worm bundle game. a 3 in 1. along with sonic heroes and mega collection for my bday years ago. i was enjoying it. There's like a huge difference between 3d and 4 mayhem. but worms forts under siege is most enjoyable than ever. i'm not much of a mission kinda guy. i'm a free weapons guy. use the Zookas. fire punchs. even many crazy weapons. crate shower. i may not have my friends play online but it was one of the best games i played. the AI is so crazy about it. especially the flying hippos. Worms Ultimate mayhem came with a 3 in one game package on worms collection at PS3. I Still have the game. there's a huge difference between 4 mayhem and ultimate mayhem. sounds. voices. weapons. and stuff. Team weapons are really cool but unfortunately a wasted potential for everyone's fav worms 3d game. such a shame really that it would've been your life saver had it not been the gauge or limits. i would've called it easy finisher. but in the end they won't allow it. would've made more sense if say it can be used every 1 or 2 turns per usage and you can use it many times as you want as a special kind of weapon. i loved playing all of them. enjoying is what makes me feel happy. such a shame we don't have more kinds of 3d worms game anymore since team17 is neglecting them greatly as well as ubisoft to rayman and capcom to mega man games. hence why i pray hope one day we'll have an epic fun game identical to worms 3d games. cuz they're toony. the weapons are destructive and voices are fun! i still have the worms 3d games but i sure wish for new worms game that is as epic than any other AAA Games
I know this is unrelated to the 3D games but I really feel games like Worms 2D, Gunbound and the like are a quite unexplored market, I wish we had more iterations on that formula. At the same time though, I do understand this is not exactly an easy type of game to make feel unique and preperly different enough to not be like "worms from Wish" Also you talk so eager about Worms 3D it makes me wanna play it, which is a big deal coming from me
Was a very interesting video for me! I have never played Worms 3d but played a ton of Worms 4 mayhem, when I got ultimate mayhem years later had a bunch of weird issues with it which I didn't really understand, so getting an explanation was cool. Your comment on the dumb AI was interesting to me, I wonder what difficulty they were set to because in Worms 4 I distinctly remember them getting wild bazooka shots across the map from impossible angles when set to hard difficulty (which is what i usually did) and it was super rare for them to do nothing. Perhaps the Worms 3d maps fuck with them since the game really isn't built for them
Bigyellow is the only person alive that could talk about worms this much and make me listen. Other folks, it would come off as disgusting. But that Bigyellow fella, they make it sound attractive!
I don't get why they cut so many songs and voice lines. Shouldn't they have still had access to the files? Shouldn't it have been really easy to include them?
I thought this at first but I don't think so, the Worms 3D music which had the same composer as W4M is straight from Worms 3D even though so much of it is missing, and two of the DLC voice banks are from Worms 3D
@@BigYellowSilly So it even had the same composer, so it wasn't a legal issue. I don't get it at all. Maybe they intended on selling it again later as DLC, which is scummy...

Your first worms video got me into the series and now my entire family plays (my mom is too good at it though)
worms 3d when snakes 2d enters the room
43:43 Their smile and optimism: gone.
Cover that shoulder, children are watching.
awesome content as always
I was wondering if I had watched enough Big Yellow for RUclips to be recommending me other Worms CCs.
Then I saw the name under the title. Checks out.
oh we're getting the sauce tonight girls. lets fucking go
In all my years of fun games and such.
The worms yapper has returned…
I know this is unrelated to the 3D games but I really feel games like Worms 2D, Gunbound and the like are a quite unexplored market, I wish we had more iterations on that formula. At the same time though, I do understand this is not exactly an easy type of game to make feel unique and preperly different enough to not be like "worms from Wish"
Also you talk so eager about Worms 3D it makes me wanna play it, which is a big deal coming from me
Was a very interesting video for me! Perhaps the Worms 3d maps fuck with them since the game really isn't built for them
51:50 HOLY SHIT CROSSCODE OST
This is what we are all here for
Yellow, Big
i’ve never played a 3d worms game in my life but OF COURSE i’ll watch an hour long video about it from big yellow
does this make charizard viable in OU
As someone who only played "Worms" for the 360, it's interesting hearing about the entries I never got my hands on.
Thumbnail didnt stand out much, almost missed this and glad i didnt!
11:55 I can't believe they broke John Umineko's legs omg
Bigyellow is the only person alive that could talk about worms this much and make me listen. Other folks, it would come off as disgusting. But that Bigyellow fella, they make it sound attractive!
Wow this honestly makes me wanna buy the old ones lol
I've handed Team17 a wonderful opportunity fr all they gotta do is dump an iso on Steam I beg
I've got thumbnail autoplay, so I legit pogchamped when it start previewing the video
holy shit is that sky troops
I don't get why they cut so many songs and voice lines. Shouldn't they have still had access to the files? Shouldn't it have been really easy to include them?
i think it might be a rights thing because otherwise i have no idea
I thought this at first but I don't think so, the Worms 3D music which had the same composer as W4M is straight from Worms 3D even though so much of it is missing, and two of the DLC voice banks are from Worms 3D
@@BigYellowSilly So it even had the same composer, so it wasn't a legal issue. I don't get it at all. Maybe they intended on selling it again later as DLC, which is scummy...
@@wadespencer3623for clarification Ultimate mayhem and 4 had different composers so it isnt out of the realm of possibility
I must insist that your next video shows off your left shoulder instead please. I'm asking for a friend.
3d scaning to make a Replicant smh my head.
The moment I saw that DX logo I know we were up to the worst type of rerelease.
Dont know anything about worms the moment i saw dx directors cut like in sonic adventure port I immediately understood why its a bad remake
