Fascinating and informative video John. My favourite vintage Hoover vacuum cleaners are the 119 and 1334 series. Great information you have supplied on the 119 . Really looking forward to part 2 of the series

Thanks again for the kind comment. As Ja bae mentions in another comment the 119 is probably the best junior of all time, it is certainly one of the most reliable and very quiet running. I am editing part 3 at the moment but they do take time to edit with 3 camera feeds to choose from plus I am only an amateur at making these videos.

Thank you for your videos. Your workshop looks like my kitchen...

Thanks for your comment Tim. Afraid my workshop gets very untidy when I am doing stuff and no matter how big there is never enough room to spare.

I'm not into Hoovers really but still found this interesting. I especially welcomed the advice on armatures and sparking as I have an old chop saw that I was thinking might have a problem. Based on this I think it is probably still OK. Thanks. Col

Thanks Col. My comments about carbon brushes and armatures do apply to all universal (carbon brush) motors.

Another great video John, its in good condition for its age, even a sturdy MK plug, agree about the cable although have seen much worse replacements.
Looking forward to part 2 video and hopefully that year bearing shows up !!

Thanks Mike, my few machines pale into insignificance compared to your collections inc the Hoover Holy grail 3224 keymatic. (the best autowasher ever made bar none).

    The 612 Senior is fantastic.

Hi Peter, The 612 was always one of Hoover's finest post war uprights. IMHO it looks nicer than it's brother the 638 and even though the later 652 range were excellent; the 612 was more reliable and built in battleship quality.

      @@scrimperuk I agree I've got one 612 and two 652 machines and 2 1346 machines and a 4002 machine.

Wow it’s incredibly hard to find a 119 that is all original these days, most either have pattern bags or have been totally repainted.

H Jacob, I think I am guilty, when we had our shop I resprayed many 119/1224 in various colours when we were reconditioning them. I just did not appreciate them at the time.

Love your work John I'm watching the 119 junior video now. I own a 612 never thought magic could be so good at 80 years old.

Such a shame Hoover went down the pan . A major force in quality for so long , now just Chinese junk so sad

I was very loyal to Hoover in the 1960's to 1980, then they treated dealers badly and went downhill. It saddened me to see a once great company end up as they did.
