Who noticed the band leader let him cook when he got in his groove and used everyone else to back him up like back up singers. Truth be told the whole band is a gem and Mr Bilal is the diamond on the top of the crown.
45 years later, I now know why my band director said I wasn't good enough. I'll keep playing my trombone till the end, tho. Hopefully I'll channel Mr. Bilal. Dayum.
600 years ago some French dudes decided to put a slide on an instrument and that paved the way for the most talented and creative musicianship the world has ever seen.
Ever? That’s some strong praise. But then again, I’ve never seen someone be so precise, effortlessly in control of the sounds coming out of a horn. I’m speechless.
@@davidwest7978 look up the creator of the trombone mf, i know black americans feel the need to think they made everything, but Africa overall was not big on metal instruments like this for a long ass time, having a big trumpet like sound is something very old in Europe, one of the oldest i can remember came from Celtic people, and i know damn well they dindt steal from any Black guy because they never even came close to seeing a black person.
It’s insane just how much power he can produce. Not only that but the range of highs to low is so impressive. Such a gifted brother and you can tell how much he and his family have worked on their craft. Can’t wait to see the next generation of Bilal’s put their own flavor into playing!
I played it for 12 years.. I didn’t either. This guy has beyond surpassed what I expected mastery to sound like. Didn’t even know that the rabbit hole went that deep
Yo I closed my eyes thought I was in Harlem nights on the crap table wit SNAKE EYES I wish I knew what my super power was cause I would love to make people feel the way I felt
lol- that cheeky low note at @3:55 to remind us that the Trombone is supposed to play on the Bass Clef. Seriously though, amazing. The range, tone quality, style.... Man has a passion and nurtured it into something so impressive for all to enjoy. All my respect goes out to ya
I remember a couple months back I saw that other solo and its stuck with me. Seeing this right here: that's someone who has found their calling and is utilizing their gift. It makes me happy seeing he's gained some recognition but he deserves so much more. If only musicians like him were held in the same regard as athletes.
I'd loved William Bilal or his brother Hank get a DAMN Grammy just because. They have certainly Mastered their instruments that's one thing I know. They should be hired as clinicians for sure.
I gotta see him perform in person. This made my heart and soul dance. I hope he has a successful career in music and continues blowing that trombone for his life
I've heard people say that musicians can make their instrument "sing", but I've never heard a musician sound like they were actually singing through their instrument...@Wil Bilal - you my friend have a gift that I hope you allow more of the world's ears to be blessed with.
Not quite sure what other compliments I could give this young man’s talent and performance that haven’t already been offered! Clearly he’s supremely talented, but I can only imagine the level of work he puts in to truly harness what God’s blessed him with. I was a fan the first time I heard him perform a few years ago and I’m excited to follow his growth and development going forward!
The best part is that they came out so flat and off key that their own band mates were shaking their heads like what is this. Then he started hitting them notes and they started getting into it🎉🎉🎉 ❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂
They fye too, but buddy, they were NOT carrying him!!! Dude deserves all the credit and recognition he’s getting from this for sure!! He singing with dat bih!!! Lol
bruh William makes everyone turn head this dude is f*cking AMAING bro i pray he never stop playing not saying for him to just focus on that but in the aspect of him just using that amazing talent and gift working hard and making the whole world and internet world open there eyes to the true power of music, instruments, bands/ marching bands, soloist and every instrumentalist out there.
He’s taking us to church!! I hope he’s getting a nice scholarship
The director isn’t getting talked about enough…. Sax & trombone solos were deadly
I heard him today for the first time on instagram. I’m now on RUclips for the last 30 minutes with tears of joy. So much passion
I am in your shoes today
Same here
Still here...
Same here
William Bilal SINGS his emotions through his mouthpiece....what a ride!!!!! His talent just bursts through the uniformity of the band❤❤
Im so thankful William Bilal picked up the trombone.
Couldn’t agree more
I guess his family is musical so it was destined
@ChaseKelleh my sentiments exactly. I'm speechless and spellbound.

It doesn’t even sound like a trombone no more! He created a whole new sound. Trombophone
Nah he literally sung through a trombone which is crazy. He did old blues vocal runs on a trombone 😅😅. That's insanity and pure genius
No that's for sure a trom-trump-aphone
2:05 that sax player is on to 🔥🔥🔥
This dude is the best trombone player I have ever heard
you should check out his older brother.names Hank Bilal
Me too wow
@@cameronlejander8032he play for Benedict also?
I predict a lot of kitty for his trombone in the future.
Trombone shorty is good

There's an old blues soul living in that young man
It’s all church
Jazz is alive in him.
not enough people are talking about that awesome sax solo
not sax brother. . trombone
I think they talkin bout the sax tho 2:05
Something you would hear on a David Gilmour track. really good sax playing.
NO ONE ??? That sax is crazy tooooooo
Cadence on point
A song like that takes pain. This kid played like he felt pain in his soul. Truly amazing
I say this all the time. He put some serious stank on his playing. He definitely plays from his soul and that soul has been hurt before.
600 years ago some French dudes decided to put a slide on an instrument and that paved the way for the most talented and creative musicianship the world has ever seen.
Da sackbut
Please don't give the French credit for anything... They probably stole it from some black guy and put their name on it like they always do.

Bro with that silky smooth sax solo deserves some love too lol
Without him, I would never know how good this instrument can sound.
You can tell that the band director has a huge smile on his face once the trombone solo chorus got started..
His reaction @3:21 says it all! 😂
My sister is right there she plays alto sax in that band so proud of her👍
But will though 😂😂😂
You should be! She’s a part of a group that is so well talented and that’s why she’s there

Music is his passion! How he expresses himself through that trombone is as vulnerable as it gets!
He dropped that bass note in there like yassssss u hear itttt🎉🎉🎉

Man when he hit that lowwwww haha!
Best part is always band members pointing and looking at opposing fans/bands saying "You can't beat that shit!"
The sax did his thing but when the trombone stepped in and started crying on they ass, it was game over! 😆
I didn't know that was possible on trombone - he's amazing!
