    Amy Adams should of been nominated Best Actress for 'Arrival' - One of my favorite sci-fi films that came out recently.
    'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' deserves to be nominated for Best Production Design and Best Cinematography.
    I actually hope for 'Captain America: Civil War' to receive a Best Adapted Screenplay.
    Emma Stone is phenomal, but Meryl Streep should win the Oscar for Best Actress.
    Above all, I'm just glad that Andrew Garfield is finally noticed by the Oscars but slightly concerned that 'Silence' receives very little recognition.

      Nocturnal Animals was the biggest snub this year, at least they nominated Michael Shannon, but Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams were great too, also the screenplay and Tom Ford were really good.
      By the way Andrew Garfield did got a Best Actor nomination and Arrival is not a snub, it has 8 nominations, even Best Director and Best Picture but yes Amy Adams deserved a nomination.

    I really think the Oscars should have a category specifically for young performers. That kid who plays the younger version of Dev Patel's character in Lion really blew me away; and there's also the ones last year, from Room and Beasts of no Nation. It's not fair to put kids to compete against fully grown adults, and in the few times that they're nominated they're usually overlooked, coz I guess the voters' mentality is "yeah, he/she was great, but he/she will have plenty more chances to win."

    It really upsets me how the Academy seems to ignore anime films every single year. I mean FROZEN was chosen Best Feature in 2013 over The Wind Rises! Though just being nominated was a lot for an anime film and that's my point, the always get snubbed, and this year was no exception because 'Kimi No Na Wa' or 'Your Name' should've undoubtly been nominated.

    If they had nominated a 10th film for Best Picture, I sincerely believe it would have been Deadpool. 5-10 films can be nominated for that category, however the requirements on the number of 1st place votes makes it statistically improbable that there will ever be 10 films nominated (by my understanding). Deadpool likely made it onto many ballots as a third or fourth nomination, but few people in the academy may have considered it to be the best film, leading to one of this years biggest snubs.

    • @Crookedlystrait
      @Crookedlystrait 7 лет назад +1

      ahsan moqeem I actually don't think she's that versatile. I loved her in Junebug, but after that it seemed like all she was playing was some version of the wide-eyed good girl naif type. Though in the fighter and American hustle she kinda went in the other direction. The past couple of years she's been playing some darker, more emotionally complex characters, ( American hustle, last year's Arrival n Nocturnal Animals) which I'm happy to see her do, but as far as versatility, IMO she still pales in comparison to actresses like Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Hillary Swank, Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain, Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, to name a few.

    • @ehsnu
      @ehsnu 7 лет назад

      Well, I like all the actresses that you've mentioned here but I still have a soft spot for Amy. Would always be biased. Haha.
      Just to support my initial statement, I'd like to say that even Cate Blanchett said it in her Oscar Acceptance Speech that whatever Amy Adams does blows her mind. Kate Winslet and Hilary Swank are actresses who receive critical acclaim for their performances. Even Nicole.
      I know that Amy's gonna win it for a future performance for sure and when she does it would be the perfect time for her. :)

    • @Crookedlystrait
      @Crookedlystrait 7 лет назад +1

      ahsan moqeem lol don't get me wrong I like her too, and her time WILL come. Considering that she's racked up five nominations since her Junebug breakout eleven years ago then she's obviously doing SOMETHING right.

  • @470George
    @470George 7 лет назад +6

    I honestly think Jackie is awful, and Natalie overacted. Can't believe she's one of the front-runners to win. That said, Ruth Negga trumping Amy Adams is definitely the biggest surprise - It's obvious that Isabelle Huppert will be nominated, Emma and Natalie are the frontrunners and you know they love Meryl, but Ruth over Amy is very surprising. Amy is definitely more deserving, if you ask me.

    • @manuelacoelho6749
      @manuelacoelho6749 7 лет назад

      They're all good, and Amy definitely deserved to be in. But i'd rather see her snubbed than seeing her loosing for the 6th time. I agree that Natalie is overacted, but she is definitely not the frontrunner. At this point, it's between Stone and Huppert.

    • @470George
      @470George 7 лет назад

      I've loved Amy ever since Junebug - if any of her performances so far should've warranted an Oscar, it was that one. Arrival is her best leading role though.

    • @Crookedlystrait
      @Crookedlystrait 7 лет назад

      Mr Brightside I didn't like Jackie either, or her performance, but I've heard many critics say that she nailed Jackie,( with the way she talked, mannerisms etc.) I can't comment on that coz I'm from a younger generation and haven't seen enough footage of her to make a judgement) I don't get why people are saying that she's a frontrunner tho coz I don't think she's won any award so far. And yes I agree that Negga took Amy's spot; very surprising, considering that Loving(or Ruth) hasn't been mentioned much in previous awards, which Amy was, and Amy's movie have several Oscar nods. I think Ruth got in coz of the whole diversity thing, but I still loved her performance tho, as well as Joel's.

    Epic fail in the best supporting actor category. I thought that Ben Foster was a lot better than Jeff Bridges in Hell or High Water and I wouldn't have nominated either Hedges or Petel
    Here is how I would have had it
    Ben Foster (Hell or High Water)
    Ralph Fiennes (A Bigger Splash)
    John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane)
    Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals)
    Aaron Taylor Johnson (Nocturnal Animals)

      @Crookedlystrait 7 лет назад

      NOT So Average Joe I agree with your picks for the most part. The only person I'd take out would be Hedges. I really loved Patel and Bridges. I loved Ben Foster too but unfortunately he falls into that category of great underrated character actors; even when he's in movies that get awards attention, he's passed over for another actor(remember The Messenger? 2009, Woody Harrelson got the nominations) Anyway his time will come soon enough. I haven't seen A bigger splash, so I can't comment on that one(but that's a reminder for me to check it out on demand). I did see 10 cloverfield lane and I agree, John Goodman was amazing, but I think he was more lead than supporting.

      most of the Bollywood Actors/Actresses have their performance much better than that of the Hollywood Actors/Actresses who have won the oscar. And there are lots of movies that should have to get oscar.
