    I loved the announcement of all the nominees. The idea to do this is one of the best things the Academy has done in the past few decades.
    Now only if they can bring back the horns in the beginning, along with the dramatic music leading up to the horns. The horns never hurt anyone. Why do away with them? Pretentious? Maybe, but it was one of those many things that made the Academy awards magical, a season within a season.
    The Academy should never lose sight of what makes them special, pandering to people who disagree with them. If they allow themselves to change too much, they will lose the magic that made them special and suddenly, they're just some event that gives out gold awards.

    My sticking points here are no Carol for Best Picture and no Ridley Scott for Best Director. I mean, there was very little buzz around Lenny Abrahamson. I don't get why, if there are ten slots available, why pick only 8? Overall I'm pleased, but there are some bummers.

      otto43 Yes I do, I love the Star Wars franchise, mostly the originals. The prequels have positives too though. The new one literally was just a remake of the original movie, I could telling sitting in my seat. Lots of wrong things with the characters, the music was off, rushed pacing, and so on.

    • @otto4354
      @otto4354 8 лет назад +2

      The prequels did have "some" positives about it, then again Episode 7 wasn't a complete disappointment, says a lot of Star Wars fans out there.

      I don't deny that. She was great in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. But Joy? It feels like she only got that nom because it's another collab with David O. Russell

      ino der Lulzer
      I wouldn't say it's bad, but it's disappointing, especially if you take into account their earlier collaborations that I already mentioned. It reminds me of Meryl Streep being nominated for Into the Woods last year. Some people will get nominated for just about anything.

      Only person of color that actually DESERVED a nomination was Alejandro, and his film is leading the pack. What, you think Compton should have been nominated? Or Coogler for best director? L M A O. Watch more movies then, develop some taste maybe.

      aero roger I loved him in Beasts, but Michael Keaton, Michael Shannon, Del Toro, & Tremblay were also snubbed. It was a really tight race. To chalk it up to racism is idiotic and ignorant.

      +Tom Helms the entire cast of Straight outta Compton, Michael B. Jordan in Creed, Will Smith for Concussion, Benicio Del Toro for Sicario. There WERE actors of color who were very much worthy of a nomination. If they can nominate Sylvester Stallone for Creed, a movie that wasn't even about him, then they could have nominated Michael B. Jordan.
