    Awesome tank. I have the same one but I let mine go for the past few months. Just started getting it back into shape. I had a bunch of nice corals but nothing seemed to be doing well. Everything just melted overtime. This makes me want to give it another shot! Thanks.

    Tank looks great! I love the cyphastrea (my fav coral). I probably put too much of it in my IM 14 peninsula and will likely find out what happens when they collide. It never occurred to me to use my magnetic rock on the back wall for my ricordea but looks amazing in yours. Keep up the great work!

      If you’re testing your water do it when nutrients are high. If not start with weekly water changes. You can add a clown day one. Some people say you can’t but I added fish and coral day one and still have them both to this day

      And eventually you can get the magnesium, calcium, nitrate and phosphate kit. But if alk stays steady then most likely your calcium and mag are within a reasonable level. If I only had a budget for 2 test kits I would get the Alkalinity test kit and nitrate test kit. Salifert has both.

    • @RespectTheReef
      @RespectTheReef  Год назад

      @@jdavis6099 lol yeah it is compared to a lot of lights on the market. Red Sea, kessil, maxspec, reef bright, hydras are all almost double. And if you want to grow all types of corals light is the most important factor other then water. In my opinion the light is the only thing not to get cheap. All other equipment is fine. But the light is so important. Just my opinion though.
      I dose every day. The goal is to keep Everything stable so I have a dosing pump that doses the same times every day. 12.5 ml spread out in 2.5ml doses 5 times a day.

    • @jdavis6099
      @jdavis6099 Год назад

    • @RespectTheReef
      @RespectTheReef  Год назад

      @@jdavis6099 you don’t even have to dose at first. And if you only have soft corals and super easy lps I wouldn’t worry about dosing if you don’t want to. Just do weekly water changes. I dose so I don’t have to do as many water changes and I also have a ton of coral that soak up the nutrients. I have a mixed reef with all types of corals so I’m trying to optimize everything. But you don’t have to dose. I’d recommend getting some water test kits and just test the water once a week and see how much things are changing. For cheap test kits I’d recommend these. amzn.to/3rLC9ei
      Calcium, magnesium and alkalinity are the most important.
      Alkalinity being the most. You can also get a nitrate kit amzn.to/3QacfKL if you want. It’s also pretty important especially with fish and LPS and stony coral. If you do weekly water changes I wouldn’t worry to much about nitrates and phosphates
