Good tutorial and came at exactly the right time! I´m getting my Pocket today and just started preparing the sd card in advance. Just realised that analogue recommends formatting the sd card in fat32 and mine is still exFat.

Second, I believe you mentioned this, but just to be sure, the SD card can be formatted with with either EXFAT or FAT32?

Are any of these cores known to wreck the screen ? My Pocket is only a few days and after running the Genesis and SNeES cores ...... my screen blew out around the edges and it also created dark splotches that will not go away now. Soooooo that the screen is already damaged
I Been looking on you tube for a video to find out how to charge my pocket in the uk as you get a us plug when u unbox it and it turns out no one has made any i was told to buy a anker plug so i tryed useing that and its not chargeing the plug was £16.99 now i have no clue how to charge it i've only got 9% battery left and im desperate i saw your a guy from the uk whos had his pocket longer than me so Pixel Cherry Ninja how do i go about chargeing my pocket here in the uk i really think this is bad on analogue's part and should of provided the correct cables for uk customers i even sent them a email about this but i was ignored :
Hey buddy, you only get a USB C to A cable with the pocket and no plug. Since I got my pocket, I've been using the chargers that came with my Google pixel phones. I believe they are 15-18w Power Delivery chargers. I've had no issues so far. I've also charged it using the provided cable plugged into my laptop's usb port. I don't think you need to stress, as from what I understand, when using a Power Delivery charger, the Analogue Pocket will draw the right amount of power.
@@PixelCherryNinja Okay. All up to date. The ONLY parts that confused me a bit were 4:38-4:50 and 5:55-6:25 but I figured it out. 👍🏾 ...also my AP won't sleep/wake with a quick press of the power button. Is that a known issue?

Hello! So for whatever reason, openfpga is not registering the fact that I added my GBA rom into the folder? It's the right rom type and everything and I have my backed up save in the saves folder. Both have the same exact name and everything. It's worked with other games before, but for whatever reason, it's not picking it up. Do you know why by any chance?

The guide is pretty easy to follow, I'd recommend taking your time, pause where necessary, and you'll do well. total noob when it comes to things like this. What does it mean when the updater status gives you the something went wrong. response status code does not indicate success: 403 (rate limit exceeded)
Got the email about warning me if I have the correct address. Haven't heard from them since though and on the site it says it's mailed a week after the warning? Heard nothing.....
I'm using a 512gb and have only used a fraction of the storage. I found 512gb were the best value, at around £33 on sale. Just make sure you get a genuine card. I personally only buy from fulfilled by Amazon.
Where's the go-to place to download the actual roms/assets? And do you typically download them one-by-one or is there a go-to archive out there? Thinking more so for GBC and GBA.
In most cases the update all script fetches what is required, in the case of Jotego cores it does not. For those you'll have to obtain them yourself. I cannot help with that 😟 Edit - it won't fetch ROM sets for you. You'll have to do that yourself

I'm not sure what stock X is, I presume it's a reselling site/service. AFAIK lead times are around a year if ordered directly from Analogue. Mine took 11 months to arrive.
@@anthonyplank7444 Nice, $300 from a reseller is a good price. That's how much it cost me straight from analogue, after delivery and customs charges, it was £250. Which is around $309 at the current exchange rate.

Plug the SD card with the update in to update the analogue pocket, then turn off the pocket and remove that memory card and put in a second memory card which i have prepped ahead of time with roms and the pocket updater etc? or should i keep the update in the same memory card that i have prepped ahead of time?. i ask because my pocket is in route to arrive this week and i have prepped the SD card just as u suggested ahead of time but the firmware update i have stored in a seperate card
I prefer keeping the FW on a separate SD, just like you have. Yep, update, remove SD and use the other SD is absolutely fine. Have fun with your device buddy 👍, and thanks for supporting the channel 😀

So, I have an Anbernic, but I am kind of disappointed with the interface, the screen, and the fact that it has joysticks. I absolutely love the analogue pocket's aesthetics and screen. I am still new to emulation, but does the alanogue allow emulation like the Anbernic, or is it only physical cartridges? I am kind of confused on this. Thanks!
You'll have more choices of emulators on the Ambernic, but the Pocket has some openFPGA cores that would be the equivalent. I've got an Ambernic. The main thing above other is the latency Ambernic Devices have.
@@El_Mexicutioner666 the Pocket is definitely better, but it all depends. For example, my brother can't feel the difference between a GBA game on the Ambernic and the Pocket. For him it's definitely not worth spending the money on a Pocket. So I guess it's down to your own preference. If you feel the Ambernic delivers, then maybe just stick to that. Me personally, I feel the latency, so I'm happy with the Pocket.

I'm using a 512gb SD in the AP, it's formatted as exFat. Absolutely no issues. Everything runs fine.

RetroArch is Awesome, I'll always use it. The Analogue Pocket is the ultimate Retro handheld though. Both have their uses.

If you wait a month before you open it, you truly are a patient person. FedEx charge around £11 extra as handling fee. It's a bump, really.

How do you get ROMS on the HB folder? Do you have to download them from another website?

I don't think any of the cores cause damage. I've tried many and my screen is still great. You may have a faulty screen.

Hey, can you tell me the sizes of the two SD cards I should buy? You said buy two.
Sizes are up to you. I've gone for 512gb main and 8gb for FW updates.
The ROMs I put into the common folder(s) aren't showing up on the Pocket.... am I missing something here?
Make sure ROMs are NOT zipped.

I think that means you may have reached your GitHub download limit for the hour/day. Just try again later, you should be good.

@@Aerithfi ROMs go in common folder for corresponding system.
gb = Gameboy
gbc = Gameboy Color
gba = Gameboy Advance

Which is better, using the Core or the .pocket files for roms?
I prefer .pocket as you have access to filters. openFPGA cores currently lack filters.
