What size sd card do you recommend going with? I have a 256gb card and just ordered a pocket today. And was just wondering if that’s gonna be enough to play everything or if I need to get a 512gb?
Google no intro Gameboy roms. Replace Gameboy with another system to download for that system. The website called archive usually has the full sets. Note it's technically piracy to download all of them. The legal way is to dump your own carts and use those. It's legal (in USA) to have ROMs of carts you own. nice video, so the only way to get grid line/scanlines in gameboy and gameboy color games is to convert them into .pockets files? also isn't there any grid lines/scanlines for gba and arcade cores? cheers

Thanks for watching. I'm really sorry, I've never attempted this, so can't help you. It may be worth asking on Reddit, to see if anyone else has ever done anything like it.
And any reason why the artworks are all black & white? Maybe something to do with the ultra basic OS? The GUI on the pocket is pretty ugly eh? A shame it doesn’t make more use of the incredibly high pixel density screen. I like it’s simplicity though, like the MiSTer.
I'm using a 512gb, as they are really cheap now. The only games that take up a lot of space are PC engine CD ones. Even with a good few pc engine CD games, I'm only 100gb in.
@@PixelCherryNinja that’s great thank you. I love the clarity of your video and calm vibe. I’ve just received my pocket and I’m over the moon. Won’t hack it just yet, but will beat FFII on cart first. ☑️
How I get those sub folders like Arcade, Computer, Console? I been using pocket updater with Mac and I have every system at one menu. It just shows them all at one list and it’s very disturbing when try find something. I really like to have those sub folders. 😢 Also I don’t have Power off option.
@35:20 -- "If you're on a Mac you go into this folder here" -- false; If you're on a Mac, this folder here is hidden and contains Metadata about its parent folder. Similar to how WinXP/etc would add thumbs.db to every folder containing an image, but set it as hidden. If you're on anything but a Mac it's just useless filesystem spam.
@PixelCherryNinja when I inserted the card and turn the console on. I waited about 5 minutes just to be safe, and when I plugged it back to the pc, no extra folders or anything was placed or created into the SD card
Man RUclips became so f*cking picky about comments. It appears to have deleted mine automatically without even telling me since it contained the jtbeta filename which includes a dot and a "zip" so YT thought it was an URL or something. -.- However my question was whether it's enough to drop the jtbeta zip on the SD root and let the updater from retrodriven do the rest. Unfortunately it's not. You still have to download each single core from their Patreon as it seems. The updaters "only" place the beta keys in the correct folders afterwards. FYI.
Thanks Tarik, I thought it grabbed the new games for you. I think the guys are working on it so it's similar to MiSTer. I guess I'll experiment some more when a new core drops tomorrow. I know the old cores have to be added manually, like say CPS2. Hopefully upcoming cores will only require the beta•zip to sort stuff out. Also use • instead is . When using something with a dot in it. I learnt the hard way too.
Your anti virus may be stopping it from launching. Your question is too vague to answer. I'd recommend doing different Google searches and try and narrow down to a specific question. You could delete everything and try fresh.
@@PixelCherryNinja Thank you for your answer, yes is a vague question, because I think is a common issue, but at least for me isn't the antivirus blocking it, I do not have any other security layer on my Win10, and if I try to turn off windows defender nothing change, the window of Pocket Sync app instantly close after launched. I tried to install every windows module (visual basic and others) but it still crash at launch :( I wanted use this program over the other one, sad :(
@@PixelCherryNinja it was the one where it asks you if you want to (i)nstall (c)continue or (q)uit I ended up deleting the installer off the SD card and downloading the updater first on yoyr list of descriptions. Thanks for watching. I'm really sorry, I've never attempted this, so can't help you. It may be worth asking on Reddit, to see if anyone else has ever done anything like it.
@@PixelCherryNinja No worries, thanks for the prompt reply. I'll give it a try on Reddit.
And any reason why the artworks are all black & white? Maybe something to do with the ultra basic OS? The GUI on the pocket is pretty ugly eh? A shame it doesn’t make more use of the incredibly high pixel density screen. I like it’s simplicity though, like the MiSTer.
I'm not 100%, but I imagine it's a limitation Analogue have put in place. I don't have an issue with artwork or colours.
This game is due for a PS5 Pro remaster. I can't wait!
Please let me know when it releases.
Hahaha no idea why this comment landed here. Looking to run through this video this weekend to update my pocket!
@@brandontalbort haha 🤣, well it was funny. Keep up the great work 💪
When a new version of a beta comes out, does the updater get the new beta rom?
The beta•zip did not manage to grab punk shot for me, when I tried it yesterday, soon after release. I'm gonna try it again later
How large of a Micro SD do you recommend?
I'm using a 512gb, as they are really cheap now. The only games that take up a lot of space are PC engine CD ones. Even with a good few pc engine CD games, I'm only 100gb in.
@@PixelCherryNinja that’s great thank you. I love the clarity of your video and calm vibe. I’ve just received my pocket and I’m over the moon. Won’t hack it just yet, but will beat FFII on cart first. ☑️
@@JGRICH61 thanks. Btw, no hack required, you just add files, but take your time and enjoy the experience.
Hi, where did you download all those ROMs, I was a bit confused when I got to that part of the video because it just came out of nowhere
Sorry, can't help with that.
@@PixelCherryNinja Think I found out. Thanks for replying anyways.
Are there scanline filters for openfpga yet? (docked)
Only for a couple of cores. Tiger Heli is one of them.
How I get those sub folders like Arcade, Computer, Console? I been using pocket updater with Mac and I have every system at one menu. It just shows them all at one list and it’s very disturbing when try find something. I really like to have those sub folders. 😢
Also I don’t have Power off option.
OMG.. I feel so stupid and happy at same time… There was Group open FPGA setting.. Now I have those.. 😂
But don’t have power off option.
The power off option is only available when docked. Mystery solved 👍
Can I play shenmue? Or ready 2 rumble ?
GBA Ready 2 Rumble, yes. Shenmue, I don't think so, but if you find a way then please let me know.
Thanks for this information. Education is always appreciated 👍
For some reason I used 2 different sd cards, but none of them has the pop up on my analog pocket. So I'm confused where to go from here
You'll know if it's okay, as it'll create a bunch of files and folders when you first insert the card.
@PixelCherryNinja when I inserted the card and turn the console on. I waited about 5 minutes just to be safe, and when I plugged it back to the pc, no extra folders or anything was placed or created into the SD card
does anyone know if there is a way to play Killer Instinct 1 and 2 the Arcade versions on analogue pocket? thanks.
Those cores are not out. You can however enjoy the SNES version.
Man RUclips became so f*cking picky about comments. It appears to have deleted mine automatically without even telling me since it contained the jtbeta filename which includes a dot and a "zip" so YT thought it was an URL or something. -.-
However my question was whether it's enough to drop the jtbeta zip on the SD root and let the updater from retrodriven do the rest.
I dont see pokemon, are these not included?
You can play Pokémon games on it. Carts or ROMs
Pocket Sync isn't working on my win10, it won't open, do you know how to fix it?
Your anti virus may be stopping it from launching. Your question is too vague to answer. I'd recommend doing different Google searches and try and narrow down to a specific question. You could delete everything and try fresh.
@@PixelCherryNinja Thank you for your answer, yes is a vague question, because I think is a common issue, but at least for me isn't the antivirus blocking it, I do not have any other security layer on my Win10, and if I try to turn off windows defender nothing change, the window of Pocket Sync app instantly close after launched. I tried to install every windows module (visual basic and others) but it still crash at launch :(
I wanted use this program over the other one, sad :(
@@ON1MUSH4 maybe try a different updater. Matt Panela or Retro Drivens one.
What’s a pocket ?
Somewhere to keep your wallet 😄
Your pants should have at least 2.
how come the pocket updater keeps crashing when I try to install a new update
Which one?
@@PixelCherryNinja it was the one where it asks you if you want to (i)nstall (c)continue or (q)uit I ended up deleting the installer off the SD card and downloading the updater first on yoyr list of descriptions. I put it in the root of the SD card. My question now is. Will this come with its own issues if I had installed with a previous program and now use a totally different program to do updates herein forth?
@@joel198d I think you're talking about Pupdater. I have found that sometimes when it updates the app, it has issues unzipping the update. You can manually unzip the file on the root of your SD card, and you should be good to go.
@@PixelCherryNinja yeah this is the second time it’s done that to me so I just don’t want to use it anymore
@@joel198d no probs, use one of the other two. We have so many choices.
9:09 neo geo core dont work any help
You need the Dark soft ROMs.
lost me when you talked about the patreon stuff
I'm not financially affiliated with Jotego's Patreon, but am a customer myself. I recommend it, as it is great value for what you get and lets you contribute towards core development. I get it's not for everybody.
You can just skip the section, and benefit from all the free stuff available. This guide covers the pocket comprehensively for those that would like to support and get early access to beta cores, as well as those who just want the free stuff.
If the Patreon stuff offends you, well then, there's not much I can do.
@@PixelCherryNinja not offended at all. Thanks for the video ☺️

Uggg the screen didn't even last 1 week on mu new Pocket and Analogue is totally ghosting me with no replies. I can't recommend this anyone ....... sorry .
Sorry to hear. I hear they do take a while in responding back. Hopefully they'll get back to you soon.
My Pocket problems aside , thanks for your videos they were a big help !
I have wanted a Pocket since they were first announced back in what now .... 2018 . My disappointment is enormous , not to mention I sold my completely spec'd out Spice Orange GameCube plus Gameboy Player to buy it. 😮💨

Most of the video is about this whatever bllsht patreon that 99% of people don't even care. The video could be 10 min...
Thanks for the feedback 👍

Thanks, and title adjusted.
Hi I gave in and bought a analogue pocket second hand from eBay. Comes with no charger. Can someone send recommendations of the proper charger I need for it to work? And does the brick and charger have to both support 5V @ 3A (15 watts) that’s what the eBay listing said it needs but is that the cable or brick or both ?
I've been using my Google Pixel charger with no issues. I think any charger that's Power Delivery compliant will be fine.
@@PixelCherryNinjathanks for the quick response bro. That is so appreciated u don’t even know I was freaking out spent 340$ on this thing and it don’t even have a charger so thanks. USB c to usb c is okay? That just means fast charging correct not the wattage?
