Edit: THIS IS HERESY! you can't have Dark Angels without including at least a brushful of Caliban Green!
Joe Thomas sorry brother, we don’t do heresy here
This is like one of the best 40k hobby channels.
"As our miniature stands currently you could easily run this in your army"
Miniature: has no head XD
Brother... where is the caliban green?
Hard to have Caliban Green without Caliban
@@ParanoidPacific ooo das cold well unlike cadia however atleast we have a bit of it
Made me think GW had changed the paint names AGAIN
the caliban green is in his pot of paint, the caliban green not fly...not like the real caliban in M31...the end of Horus Heresy... and the start to luther´s heresy...
That looks great for the small amount of time needed. Thanks for sharing!
Good to see my DA getting some love man! Knew there was a reason I subscribed to this channel.
Everytime pete uploads a video hurry i gotta watch it
Perfect, beauty and fast, a real good way to have a beauty army done. Really good results.
Please do this in a space wolves scheme, it would be so useful for me!!
This is outstanding. Would love to see your thoughts on this same technique for Imperial Fists.
Same method but do dark khaki -> mid yellow -> bright yellow
@@Hepabytes I was thinking a warm brown undercoat, rather than black. Whacha think?
@@Kelann08 that or pink. It sounds crazy but magenta looks great under yellow.
Brown might be easier for a drybrush style.
@@Hepabytes Oh for sure. If I were airbrushing yellow ink, I'd go the magenta undercoat route. As things are, I'm gonna try a brown prime, I have some warm brown stynelrez, then drybrush a khaki all over, then two lighter yellows and then wash the whole model in iyanden yellow. I have a few pushfit marines I can test it on.
Love the tutorial, just started getting back into 40k after a 20 year hiatus. Would love to see a Blood Angel version of this method. Keep up the good work 👍
What a great technique! Thanks for sharing this Pete.
I am making deathwatch assault intercessors and am making one of them an old dark angel
Aren't Dark Angels weapons red and Aquila a bone-ish colour? Otherwise great job!
Yes, they are
This seems like a great guide for painting Salamanders....not so much for Dark Angels.
I play dark angels. Paint my weapon black as I think the red looks cartoonish and not really grim dark.
David Gregory you could try doing a really dark grim red just use a really dark red and scratch the shit out of it’ll probably look really good
You can paint you army however you want for example PPL are painting imperial fists with red or black casing, red or black aquilla and shoulder trim your choice c:
Could you please paint pre heresy word bearers in their cold stone colour scheme please?
Just stumbled across this and love the quick technique. Subbed and keen to check out more of your work!
NICE! Thanks for sharing...beautiful job.
i totally would be happy with these color scheme for salamanders lol
If you want an extra touch of color on your models, just paint the weapons red and the Aquila in bone color.
Outstanding guide, thank you very much.
Looks great! But I’d use this painting style for salamanders if anything if you wanna do Dark angels just change out the base paint with Caliban green and copy the rest of the steps the same!
I like it. Very good video for a beginner too
Please do a tutorial on how to do a Heresy Era World Eaters on an Assault Intercessor
Fantastic, a very good paint job for the time it took. I've been meaning to check out those new Army Painter round drybrushes. Seems they give a boost to drybrushing.
This is actually a really good idea for Salamanders Chapter.
Well I would like to see some space wolves :D
Great technique but a little too bright green for me. I was thinking of trying this but use caliban green, warpstone and moot green. Mix a 2 to one of dark angels green and contrast medium to not mute the highlights too much.
Id like to see battle ready raven guard I want to see a good way of doing black armor
Black templars or deathwatch even
Great job
I normally base the model black then add caliban green then warpston green at the top of model. Then add gold to the shoulder rims skulls and other golden parts. Lead belcher on wing wepons barrels and chainswords saws. Do the browns and whites of the equillas and if added dark angels shoulder pads with logo logo white then the red on the wepons body and eyes then moot green as a highlight
3 dark angel videos I'm starting to think he's make an army of dark Angel's?
Possible
Probably, they are quite fun to paint
This is awesome,I would love to see other chapters done like this, specifically Minotaurs but im not sure this would work with their scheme
Pete, nice work on this! I'm really interested to know how you painted your Ravenwing bikes :)
Really liking this scheme, I might use it for Heresy salamanders. Any chance for a Sons of Horus scheme in this method?
Loved your Conversion series so with Indomitus being so Melee focused - Space Wolves conversion tips please?!!!
The Wolves are coming on Friday!
Imperial fists using this technique would be interesting
yes pls
You could copy this technique but have a base of dark orangey colour instead of black for the shadow then build the highlights up with avaland sunset flash git yellow and a bit of white added to flash gifts yellow
How are the Army Painter Drybrushes working for you? Are they comparable to Artis Opus or Make-Up brushes?
Wow Nice csm tutorial
Do you think it would look similar if I put a dark angels green contrast paint "glaze" instead of an Ork flesh one ?
@Pete The Wargame: very nice work! I would like to follow what u did but i don't have Ork Flesh. Could i use Athonian Camoshade instead? What do you think?
Instead of applying the Ork Flesh contrast it's okay to wash it with Nuln Oil or apply Dark Angels contrast?
I’d love to see you make some ultramarines conversion
Can you use Dark Angels Green as the contrast layer?
That’s awesome, wondering if you could do a battle ready Salamanders if possible. Unless it’s the same as the Dark Angels but just change the Base Colour with a brighter green
I know this is an old video, but I'm painting my Combat Patrol in this method and wondering how you would paint the Dreadnought. Any tips or suggestions?
Salamanders and flesh tearers next please 😋
Could you do a tutorial on painting Deathwing bone-white armor?
Great work sir. I am using the guide to paint my greenwing Dark Angels.
Have you tried to pain the Mcfarlane Intercessor yet?
What paints/colors did you use on the bases for these? Love the look! I noted the textured paint stuff too.
Quick and dirty, seems too bright to be Dark. No Caliban green?! That good Sar, is a slight to the Lion!
great tutorial pete.. have you tried another darker green scheme using this method?
So much love for the First Legion in your last videos, after so much meme about loyalty and Heresy before
😒
What greens would you use for a raptor space marine?
It's a nice technique. Couldn't you just switch out the contrast paint for a glaze though?
reckon we could get a battle ready for minotaurs?
Battle ready blood angels!
Could a similar method be used for a white marine? Prime grey? Want to paint a force of Rift Stalkers.
You could do that, although the white might look a little dusty. It would probably be easy to start with a black primer, then spray a white one over it from above. That will give you your intial shade, then you can use some very subtle washes to get the the other details
@@PeteTheWargamer subtle washes rather than the 3 dry brushes?
Thanks for the reply!
@@ClemsonRoll no problem, happy to help!
Well since in the Indominus box are also Necrons could you do a Necron battle ready video?
i really like the look of the armour colours! Anyone have any suggestions for, the 3 dry bush colours and a wash, of say, the dark blue of Crimson Fists? :D
For ultramarines try this: prime black, DB nightlords blue, DB calgar blue, DB fenrisian gray, cover model in ultramarines blue constrast paint.
It functions with the dark imperium and know no fear models??
Yup!
Could you do a Salamander video like this please?
will you do other chapter with this dry brush technique ?
like the space wolves
Great Tutorial! Can you please make a similar Necron part? :)
Blood Angels guide next?
I think one more step could make this even better: Hitting this with one more drybrush of Moot Green will really make the model pop. Just be selective and highlight the raised parts.
This looks great! I'm planning on painting my upcoming Tau army in a similar color scheme, what Citadel paints would you recomend for darker highlights? I'm looking for a deep "forest" green
Please do an iron hands one please
battle ready salamanders would be great!
How/where did you get that drybrush? I can't find an "ArmyPainter Masterclass: Moderate Drybrush"....
They have not been released yet. They are on pre order to be released in September.
@@timmilazzo357 this answers my question too! Thank nurgle for the comments section.
This is a great guide for salamanders
make a astra militarum cadian deser thema speed painting please
Looks amazing! I’m curious though, the dark angels usually have red gun cases Is there a way to do those quickly maybe using blood angels red as well?
I personally like the black look of them better
What dry brush is that?
Pete, it might be too late. But the missus bought me a box set from Firestorm games, I'm not sure if she used your affiliate link. I've sent them a message hopefully they will honour it.
Thank you for doing that, much appreciated :D
Hey everyone! Even if I am a fantasy junkie still playing WFB, I love the converting/kitbash videos and enjoy the painting ones. As I am a mediocre painter looking forward to speedpaint my futur lizardmen army, I'd love to get advices from talented peoples. I'd like to reproduce this paint sheme, bus as I would like tu incorporate lots of purple, would it be possible to us a purple spraypaint for the undercoat/basecoat ?
Thanks to anyone taking the Times to answer !
Love from France
sorry for the late answer, but if it helps, you could use the purple basecoat, but it wold be best to prime it black, then a purple basecoat, but if you dont then use a blackwash to make a shadow, you can either make this with whitespirit/paintthinner and black oil paint and mix or just buy one pre made, hope this helps
Looks like a great salamander scheme! I like it!
You should do deathwing
Anyone else losing their shit @ 0:57? Close the pot, mate! :D
Please, Please, Please do this with Ultramarines !
It looks a Salamander, hehe. Thanks.
Looks like a Salamander
NOICE!
That looks more like a mis-colored Salamander than a Dark Angel, frankly, and the colors listed for the armor is textbook Salamanders. So as a Salamanders lover, thanks! But the title is still off...
Love the DA, but really can't stand the gumby outfits. I use Caliban green for their pauldrons and one poleyn (knee cap). Outside of that brass/silver/gold or combi thereof completes the color scheme. Nice work!
Think you when a shade to bright, black should have been your base, dark angel or nocturne green your mid tone and warpstone as your highlight. As is you pretty much matched my salmander armor color
Edit: ROFL still watching and you said the same
I see, starting the timer after needlessly putting the paint on the pallet.
Please do Blood Angels
Honestly Imperial Fist and Black Templars are yelling for a battleready or a mid level guide like this ( I do prefer you bringing up the brushes more, since not everyone in the imperium sadly possess an airbrush
Now do a crimson fist pls😭
bolter casings need to be red for dark angels
Blood angels please
Looks more like a salamander to me.
NOCTURNE GREEN!!!! I'M OFFENDED!!!!!
It's alright, but the Dark Angels really need bone white on the chest eagle and red weapon casings
Which you're free to do but it will also add lots of extra time. To speed paint you will need to make some sacrifices.
@@PeteTheWargamer Use wraithbone with skeleton horde (instead of leadbleacher and nuln oil) and white with flesh tearers red and it should be slightly slower! I do like a lot the fast way of drybrushing the green part. That will save a lot of my time
See's black weapons casings.....(starts screaming internally)
Otherwise good job!
Great painter, the armor is just to bright imo for a son of the lion. Its still better than people taking warpstone and literally drawing lines around armor edges...
I dont whant to be rud, but I am tired of battle ready painting tutorials. Now seems that Gw is only doing this tipe of videos. And they don’t upload great videos like the one of Archaon.
I realy think that if I whant to paint somethink battle ready I just follow the proces of a normal painting guide without doing the last lights and layerings.
Maybe I say this to you bacause Gw have the comments unable.
But I love your space marines chapter conversions! Keep rolling!
667th like thank me later
Battle ready Consecrators?
Great paint job, but GW's '+10 points for a painted army' does grind my gears.
