Looking forward to this series and getting my hands on the game.
Only a matter of days...
I love the Zenox. They were my go to race for roughly the first 50% of my total playtime in DW1.
Funny, I didn't play the Zenox much in the first.
The hardest part of watching a new series episode 1 that you have much anticipated.... is waiting for the next episode. First time commentator, long time viewer. Thank you tortugapower. 😊
Only about 30 minutes left for episode #2! Nice to have you along, Buck :)
looking forward to more of this series
After starting 3 new games and watching a multitude of Let's Plays, I have yet to see anyone start on a planet. It's always been a moon.
I've been waiting for this ever since the preview LP finished up. Looking good so far!
Thank you!
wait! No order queue is by design not "didnt make it in by launch"?!
Thats insane. Honestly close to a "no buy" by it self. It was such an integrale part of ship and fleet management of DWU
To be honest, no building queue, and also, i see, the grafic and i ask miself, why the game didint need better grafic, it was near perfect, instead of that, why not add buildings in planets, or a better land combat, for me when they do that they want to copy galactic civilization
I agree, it's a "miss". Hopefully it will be added down the line.
@@Krysnha honestly I found the first one unplayable for me. But I’m excited for this one.
@@Krysnha "the grafic and i ask miself"
What is your first language? I really hope it isn't English...
@@BanjoNoob2 No, it is spaish, what i mea with Grafic, is distant world one, i think, didint need so much grafick, i think was really good as it was, and maybe add something different, or work other stuff
How do squire.
Bloody brilliant. Loved the last series and now looking forward to seeing this 1 all the through.
"Stay the course boss" 😊
I suspect this one will be even better (because the game has developed).
Glad to see more content of this game, I been crazy about it since I watched your playthrough
When it comes to the shields it's really a matter of what they are facing. It's the old Alpha Strike vs DPS. If the enemy has a large damage but slow reload they could potentially do more damaging on their opening attack by breaching your shields quickly. Where as if enemy has a lot of rapid fire weapons with lower damage sure the higher shields will hold out longer but they won't bounce back as quickly where as the faster recharge can recharge more between shots and reduce it one more.
The shields also impact how you might handle the ships. The larger amount means you can stay in the fight longer before taking internal damage. Where as the faster recharge means you can engage in more hit & run style tactics as you fly in do the damage, fall back to recharge shields, and then do it again. While the enemy hasn't had time to fully recover due to slower shield regen.
Thanks so much for doing these! I'm pretty hyped for this!
look forward to this
I like that human LP idea with slow tech progression etc.
Add a huge galaxy to that. But I'd wait some more updates, as the game seems to be pretty unstable.
This release version looks infinitely better. More polished.
Mocking Ploy was a good name for the ship ignoring orders :)
These ship name ironies happen quite frequently, I find.
Looks delicious, LOL. Hope some of those things you mention like order queues are added in updates soon. Only 2 days away, can hardly wait.
Me too! I'll be happy if it happens a couple months down the road, just want to see it.
Loving this series Tortuga (started it like a month later lol)
Thanks Ivan!
Played first one a lot, loved the Picard Era mod, DW2 looks really sweet, was hoping for more races from release game but I guess they save that one for DLCs.
I think that's Matrix's thinking, and honestly I think that's very fair considering how polished this release is.
I am going to play Humans my first playthrough- For the God Emperor! Exterminate all XENOS! Military Dictatorship. Keep the Ackdarians as aquatic beaver slaves, the Teekans as hamster slaves, Xenox as kitty kat slaves, and the rest exterminate.
too bad there aren't orcs, these boyz know how to have fun.
For the Emperor!
I look forward to the AAR lol
I'm going to play humans first, too, but exactly the opposite. I want to try a diplomatic game, trying to get the whole universe to love me.
You know, it's a game, so I want to play the opposite of real-life. :)
@@Bill_Garthright the federation playthru lol
great video!
How much cpu is utilised by the game? How much trouble should i expect in 50, 100, 200 years later in the game with +- standard settings? Have you seen an improvement regarding UI? well as much as it even shows in such an early game?
Mid-late game your frames will drop horrendously
Looking forward to this series.
Does "Manual Fleet Ship Management" mean that you have to send your fleets in for repairs manually? Seems that would become quite tedious. Is there a setting so that you manually put fleets together, while setting automatic ship repairs? Thanks. Looking forward to the series. I also followed some of your pre-release videos.
There is a setting for just that! You can have manual fleets, but ask them to go repair themselves automatically and then rejoin the fleet.
@@TortugaPower Thanks! Fantastic series. 🙂
Are the Shakturi in DW2? Or are they going to be locked behind a DLC again? Never got them to trigger in DW:U unfortunately, so I ended up just instagibbing the guardian homeworld with my doomstack, which caused the game to crash and unfortunately did not trigger the achievement either, but apparently became the sixth most popular screenshot of all times on Steam. lol
That sounds like a screenshot I need to see!
@@TortugaPower It's titled "How to crash your game. :/", from 2014. But you can also just scroll down a bit in the community hub's screenshot section, as there isn't a whole lot going on anymore, in regards to people upvoting anything new.
Hello Tortuga. I have been following your series of this game and have really enjoyed it. I am considering buying this game. I can't wait to play, to be honest. If you have them as a sponsor please let me know so I can use your link.
Thanks so much, Ahmed! I don't have any referral links set up, but there are a lot of other great content creators that do (DasTactic, etc)
Would you get the option to research and build those special shields if you had Zenox in your empire, even if your main species was something else? Or are those bonuses just fixed at the start of the game, and there's no way to discover those technologies if you don't start with them? (Not even stealing the technology?) Just wondering.
PS. These have been great, Tortuga, but I'll probably only watch another day or so. After all, once I get the game myself, I'll be too busy _playing_ it. But I do appreciate how much I've learned from watching these. Thanks!
Understandable Bill! Enjoy having you until you disappear into the game yourself :)
[edit: oh, and to your question: no, you don't get the Zenox special take unless they are your main race, AFAIK]
@@TortugaPower
OK, thanks. And I'll probably watch later, just not when the brand-new game is finally in my hands. :)
@@TortugaPower
I just got the game, and so far, I've been doing nothing but reading the manual and the Galactopedia (just the general concepts, so far), and started looking around the screen. And I _think_ you're wrong about that, Tortuga.
If you go into the Galactopedia, select "General Concepts," then "Research." There's a section on "Race-Specific Tech" which indicates (unless I'm _really_ reading that wrong) that you can get those technologies - and, presumably, make the item? - by trading for the tech.
I _suspect_ that you could also steal it, but that's just a guess. Also, it says "sometimes," so maybe a species isn't always going to be happy to trade away their advantage? Heh, heh. Note that you can't trade a traded technology to a third party (which I'm very happy to see). We'll see. I just thought I'd let you know.
Again, I'm going to try a diplomatic game in my first attempt, so I'll see if this actually works. :)
If you do another playthrough after this, could you play in an older galaxy please? I'd love to see a playthrough where other empires are already firmly established.
Cool! Can't wait! Hope they put in a range/measuring tool.
It's known to the devs, so I think we can expect something in the short-term.
@@TortugaPower Cool. Time sure passes slow - seems like it should be the 10th already! ;)
Great Video
Does your civilian forces automatically build mines on planets you discover like gas mine stations on your gas giant or do they just build miners?
They build mining stations. They build miners which go off to collect high demand resources directly (albeit less efficiently than a station)
A ship class suggestion, catamaran.
Yes! Clever :)
What's the name of two giants of distant worlds, because I like to watch on their perspective
DasTech and Larry Monte
@@zetazhan8231 DasTactic you mean? xD
Well done.
huh, I thought the engines made sense the old way.
Super efficient during "normal use", but not during combat
I don't know, their whole shtick is they are supposed to be super efficient. The old ones were I think like 5x less efficient than any other engine...
enjoyed the 1st installment
Love this game.
Great
Just something to point out - Larry Monte and DasTactic are not the two giants of Distant Worlds. It's DasTatic and TortugaPower!
That's very kind to say, but Larry is like the godfather :D
Let’s goooooo
looking at this I have to say I find DW1 aestetically more pleasing
Feel the Hype!
thx
I am also curious about if the game saves the research points. Maybe someone in the comments knows it?
You should definitely go Human next playthrough, preferably some sort of Military Dictatorship.
Humans have a lot of room for role-playing, which is why I left them for later.
@@TortugaPower can't wait
No queue orders!? Ouch, very strange decision indeed, I wonder why they removed them. First release drama spotted! ^^
Drama!!
Were they in the preview?
>Tortuga is a prewarp chad like i am
Based and redpilled, good sir.
Just bought this game, built my first fleet, and I'm pretty disappointed that a fleet does not move together as one. This is a big problem, I have ships lingering behind, even worse when attacking they come into battle a couple of ships at a time so my full strength, is not at start of battle, how in the world did beta testers miss this.
Yeah, this is a known issue. And a pain, I agree!
@@TortugaPower Should really be part of that fleet manager to fly with the speed of the slowest ship (when grouped).
this is one of these games I;d realy like to play but it seems so hard..and I thought Terra Invicta is hard, lmao
Gentlemen, it is time.

Que bien y gracias!
I see the shandar are in the game but not playable yet. My utopian empire 😢
It will force you to play some other races until the DLC comes :)
@@TortugaPower I'm still in DS1 and will be for a while so it's not a big deal. But I plan on opening up my horizons there too.
This is on Playstation 2 right?
It is NOT faster than light jump. It took like 5 days to go from planet to the sun. In our solar system light riches the planet in 8 minutes.
:)
All project visible il pass to much of a spoiler
No problem! I'm sure someone else has a more blind playthrough. (Although I don't think tech tree is really a spoiler, it's mostly "everything gets better")
Taking manual control over most systems is a recipe for failure in this game. Leave everything automated and tweak manually as needed.
oh man, I disagree! I played DWU full manual and that was great :)
@@TortugaPower DWU full manual was great, full manual on DW2 is a disaster.
@@TheGlock30owner I guess your experience and mine are a bit different.
@@TortugaPower you like having to babysit each and every ship due to not being able to queue orders? Just as a single example of why manual controls are bad in DW2.
Oh I hate it! Lack of order queues are painful. I see what you mean: recipe for failure in that you will leave them idle since you can't queue orders. If that's the case, I agree.
leak a torrent i need it now
