EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Solar Panel Unboxing and First Impressions

- I’ve had the EcoFlow River 2 Pro for about a month now and I’ve tested it with my Renogy 100W flexible solar panel that is mounted to my cargo carrier and with my Rockpals 100W folding solar panel. The combination of the two panels connected in parallel has not yielded an input to the River 2 Pro power station of more than ~75W. I suspect that could be due to using a cable with an XT60 connector vs XT60i - but at the moment I don’t have a way to test that theory.
I received the EcoFlow 220W bifacial solar panel and finally got clear sunny skies to open it up and test it. WOW - It works better than I expected. Out of the box I got over 180W and even got to 201W while testing a couple days later. The panel is solid and has some weight to it but it is easy to carry with the handles on the case.
I’m looking forward to taking it with me on my next camping weekend (fingers crossed for sunny skies). It should be able to keep the power station charged all weekend. It is waterproof as well, so even if it rains I don’t have to be worried. I don’t want to test that feature though.

we just ordered tonight . Thanks for the information.
It’s a really good solar panel. 9 months of using it and I have no complaints. There is a new version with a different stand.
@@shortybiscuit thanks for your recommendation. We are very new of camping. We bought our first caravan and there is no electric for us for to camping. We are camping in a special area as visitors. We are in the queue right now. Until we have our own electric place, we want to support our caravan with EcoFlow delta 2 and this solar panel. 🤗😉
@@sofiEmoo this will be perfect! I also have the EcoFlow Delta 2 and the combo is excellent. Be sure to order a solar angle finder - it helps a lot to optimize how much solar is captured.
@@shortybiscuit i will try to find it. İt seems like very useful 🤗😉
@@sofiEmoo this is the one I have. I’ve even used it to align my telescope to the sun for the eclipse. amzn.to/3yc3Lfm
Thanks for the demo and info, have a great day
You’re welcome! Let me know if you have any questions.
I got 198W charging my River Pro. Being March the sun was a bit lower and therefore the back received reflective light from the beige brickwork off my house!
Nice! It is definitely an effective solar panel.
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
You’re welcome! Let me know if you have any further questions
@@shortybiscuit Will do! I'm expecting a delivery of this along with the Ecoflow Delta 2 (seen your video for that too). The plan is to use it in our campervan to hopefully get a few more days out of the fridge 🤞
@@NerdZap the internal battery helps a lot!
Greetings, vising from the ecoflow group on FB. Nice that you have a youtube channel. I never paid attention to who posted the EF river pro deal but I always try to link up with other creators, especially people of color.
Looking forward to see what kind of content you make.
Thanks for the support!
Excellent! Thanks for the review.
Great job! Thank You!!! I get my River 2 Pro back today and I'm taking it camping with the same panel :)
Let me know how you like it!
Great review 👍
Thanks!
Hi, it takes a bit to use the case as a stand and there are some tricks to position the panel.
I own two of these panels and when I connect them in series I can get up to 480w to my Delta-2 .
Congrats ont eh River 2 Pro, awesome gear. I use it to provide power during camping trips for a relative's CPAP and other devices that need to be energized.
It is not unusual to get 220w (the max a R2 Pro can handle) from a singe 220w bifacial. Just need to play with it and carry 1x4x12 cedar or pine wood planks to help prop.
Thank you for sharing
So true! The solar angle finder helps a lot and after using it for some time I’ve gotten lots better at positioning the panel. They’ve release a new version with an even better stand that I do indeed have my eye on. The River 2 Pro comes in very handy. It’s compact and easy to take places.
@@shortybiscuit The new foldable bifacial panels are fantastic. I am waiting for a big sale to buy a few.
Thanks for the review! It’s my first time hearing about biracial!
Its a new(ish) technology. A few companies have started doing it. The Bifacial panels get solar from the front and a little from the back. Pretty impressive.
Since it is a bifacial solar panel, you can increase the wattage by using a mirror or something reflective to reflect the sun onto the back of the panels. You can expect to see an increase of about 10-15 watts.
Correct! Even something white should be reflective. I've seen tests with mirrors.
I didnt know which was the front and which was the back. I had it backwards as how you used it. 😅
Ha! I could fully understand why. Glad I could help! You should be getting more wattage once you have it setup correctly. The solar angle finder helps a lot to maximize the efficiency.
My harbor freight 100 watts gets up to 123 watts. Only $100
That’s really good!
Beware, these panels are very fragile.. would not recommend
Thanks, I’ll be sure to be careful.
I would recommend these panels, BUT , you really do need to make a customised flat pack ply hard case that doubles as a reflective stand, which at this price point is a deal breaker for people that don't have the resources or the know how.
