This woman sat in the chair, legs crossed, and sang this song easier than breathing. People cannot do this nowadays
Charles Hines exactly!!!!
That is EXTREMELY hard to do. No props, no dancers, no auto tune no gimmicks. WOW in tears
That's how you know you're bad.. that voice
when they thought it was the end...she thinkin' oh no I'm giving you the best that I got all the way to the end baby, doin this for my fans!!!!
There are ppl now that can do that. The record companies are paying for this type of singing anymore. so you wont hear it.
Still listening 2024!
Singing while seated. #unbothered
Stanley Frassenei this comment!! 😂😂🙌🏾
Anita Baker is celebrating her 66th birthday today, January 26, 2024. She is an American singer-songwriter known for her soulful ballads, particularly from the height of the Quiet Storm period in the 1980s. Starting her career in the late 1970s with the funk band Chapter 8, Baker released her first solo album, The Songstress, in 1983. In 1986, she rose to fame following the release of her Platinum-selling second album, Rapture, which included the Grammy-winning single "Sweet Love". As of 2017, Baker has won eight Grammy Awards and has four Platinum albums, along with two Gold albums. Baker is a contralto with a wide range of octaves. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on January 26, 1958
Awesome. Thanks for that. I loved her as a child in the 80s but never knew she was that successful. I just looked this up for my gf. "We love so selflessly". I wish that for everyone.
So, we just gonna ignore that her hair was slayed!!!

@@Rollo6969 excuse me? 😳& if you’re saying what I think you’re saying...,please STFU. We can celebrate both singers. One of who’s a mezz soprano....the other an alto. Two completely different sounds !!! Ugh idiot
@@raynobles82 they had a point tho
She sat her ass in that chair and belted out a classic.

Whitney and Anita are hands down my favorite live performers of all time, Whitney is my favorite artist of all time period but as far as live performances go Whitney and Anita are in my top 5
What about Toni Braxton 🤷🏽♂️ her sound was just different
My 2 favorite as well
Anita Baker is the better vocalists too me. She can do more with her voice plus her music is timeless. Imagine if Whitney sang this. Not as dark.

Anita Baker's voice is a musical instrument.

Tameka Jones .... like WTH, how, why, it's breathtaking to say the least ..... I love her
Tameka Jones back in the day you couldn't get a recording contact unless you were amazing. She's unbelievable.

Damn that had to be one of the smoothest displays of vocal range, had me mesmerized!!!
IT'S NOT EASY TO DO THIS when you sing, really sing, you have to sing from your diafram, it's difficult to get your lunges full of air if you're sitting in a chair. Anita ALWAYS blows me away everytime. Our gifted songbird!!!!
Exceptional...A true lady .. Let me make my hair and nail appointment. Covid got me lacking.

Classy and smooth music that soothes and speaks to the soul. Where has all the talent like this gone? You won’t find it on those silly tv talent shows that give false hope to mediocre talents. Anita was truly a classical and sophisticated talent that will be missed.
Man. This is one classy .. beautiful woman...One of the finest women.I have ever seen..
Wow Whitney, Anita, Michael, Luther, Marvin & Donny cannot be duplicated. Effortless, phenomenal talent. Their voices were/are anointed.

That Voice! I thank my mother for playing Anita Baker when I was a youngster in the 80s. Simply beautiful
Arguably the greatest voice of all time. Right there with Freddie Mercury and Whitney Houston.
Perfection. I am in tears. Her voice gives me goosies.
Done effortlessly sitting down in a CHAIR do ya'll hear me?! This songstress gave them story time with music and kept them engaged without dancing, half naked or without any background singers. Absolutely pure heaven to my ears....Anita can do no wrong...this is my favorite song from her.

3:23 damn!
The key she's singing in this video makes the song 1000 times better than the original
I still remember watching this performance on VHS. It was at a friend's place way back in 1990. Still blows me away

You know you can sing when you just sit down and chill and do your thing! 😂😂
Anita has such a signature sound, and it's a wonderful
Watching this on repeat in 2021
Anita giving we the best that she got!
Jaw-droppingly beautiful with a voice that can bend notes to whatever shape she desires, and a soulful tone from another planet. I'm 60, and I've not heard too many other women in my life who are on her level.
She just made this my wedding songggg....next is for my husband to find me.
Man i love her 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
The way she does "strong" etc at 0:56 and other points is like heaven in vocal form
One of my Anita Baker favorites...love the lyrics...so meaninggul for couples who want to stay together forever.
Now this what they meant by just singing, but she sitting gracefully and so elegant baby❤❤❤❤❤😊
The host was speechless! Lol ready to risk it all!
he fell in love
Ms. Anita Baker The Songstress
Such a beautiful Elegant Lady. 🥰
So calming an majestic..and she was sitting down ha! Thats one cold Woman..
The time of 80s and early 90s music. I saw her and Luther Vandross perform on both nights. She is my #1 female singer. My generation knew how to treat, serenade and romance a woman. It was a time when we would dress up in our finest and take our Queen to concerts like this. It was our red carpet moment. She and other artist of those days sang to make a Man feel appreciated. Not like today where it's always a put down in their songs. Sad generation.
Best singer of all time...ms baker and Sade are amazing
Christina Thomas totally agree
Down South, this is what we called “Flat foot sangin”.
Don't have to do nothing but relying on her pure talent . Classic!
Ernest Valdez exactly.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!, "betting everything on my wedding ring" that voice - great performance, and performer.
Phil looks as if he saw angels in heaven and fell in love all over again!
So pleasant!!
Just unbothered. The best.
I think this one is my all time fav of hers
The Voice 🎼🎵🎶!!! She blew it up ❤
She sat there, half that performance and was still entertaining AF with that amazing voice.
Her voice is unreal, sublime. Flying and dipping, dancing.
Anita Anita! 😭 You sing to my soul!
Every time I hear this I’m taken back to the 80s workin in a wild ER and dancing to this with the ward clerk amidst the chaos for about a minute. Love ya Ms Connie.
I Love Anita Baker ❤🎶 She is Such a Splendid Seductive Vocalist...I have All her Albums 📀🎙🎵🎭🌟❣🎶
