I came across this video doing research. I went to African ancestry to trace my roots as I am Black American and was born in America and so were my parents and grandparents. But I have always been told that I looked African. Which is why growing up, all my friends were African, I dated African and married such. Well my results came back and I am being told I am from the Edo people from Nigeria of the Benin Empire. Which I never heard of. I only know Igbo and Yoruba. I am interested in learning about them. Please help.

YORUBA has clan greetings like the BINI, but elders usually say them to young ones they are usually called ORIKI . Our lineage are known from our surnames. Ade from Oba family, not again, people will say God is the Ultimate King, so nowadays, anyone can bare the name . Oye usually for the families of chiefs ,.Awo, for priest , Ifa or Fa for families of diviners.(divinity) Ona for for the families of artisans. Those from royal families can bear whatever names they like. Ogun for almost every lineage Osun,Øya for those who worship those river deities ,. Ødę for hunters that Ø replaces O with a dot underneath it. Akin for boys not girls (warriors). Øla , Ayø , Olu for everyone . Kabiyesi for Oba's, it means , no one dares ask you why you made a decision. ( your decision is the Ultimate 🤣🤣🤣
