I bought 3 to replace some AirTags. The main one I use for my wallet died after 6 months, not 3 years… didnt even notice until I lost the wallet lol… didn’t realize battery wasn’t replaceable or rechargeable when I bought it lol…massive L, going back to AirTags now

lets say you drop it on a street or whatever… i believe the airtage can update it location every now and then when a new/random iphone comes near it … can the smarttrack card do the same ?

apparently so, this is such a wasteful product segment...
nearly all of them with exception to at least one are disposable with 1-3 years of battery life tops.
the rechargeable one i'm aware of is called Pebblebee, but it costs almost like an Apple AirTag which kind of makes it overpriced and underperforming considering that for an extra 5$ you can also get precise location and directions with the AirTag...
also, from my experience with these card trackers - they are the most unreliable pieces of shit product out there.
they don't show you the precise battery precentage they have, which means they are practically always on from the factory and you would be lucky to get one that has not been sitting in some warehouse for the past year or two, so you could buy one only to find out that after 3 months its battery is already dead (happened to me), or after a single year its battery is dead even though the manufacturer lists 3 years of battery life...
i've just recently in the past month bought a Eufy 4-pack of these wallet cards, and so far 1 of them was DOA (not in terms of battery life, it just simply would refuse to be found in the FindMy app), one of them came with around 70% battery life, and the other two have arrived with 80% each.
this is the last time i'm ever buying these card trackers, after a year and a half i just give up on these... for the amount of money, time and effort i spent of them i could've just bought a 4-pack of AirTags and be settled with it.
