      Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed watching! 😁 And yeah, I noticed! It's difficult to find videos about the visual novel and not the anime. Hopefully this video can bring some more awareness to the source material of the anime! :)

    Really glad youtube recommended this video to me. It's been ages since I watched the anime, but I still remember the impact.
    You have good editing skills and the youtube algorithm seems to like this genre of video. Keep up the good work!

    The visual novel just hits different, suzuha ending...

      Oh gosh, I know right?! The Suzuha ending freaked the living heck out of me when I first played through it. Was not expecting such a terrifying ending...

      A video about the ending would be pretty neat, haven't really seen anyone dissecting the ending piece by piece and how utterly terrfying it is or maybe i just want a video about suzuha... keep making cool vids

    For anyone who doesn't know, Steins;Gate is part of a bigger universe of VNs called Science Adventure. All of the other games are extremely well made and are worth your time, although most fans agree that Steins;Gate is the best. I'd recommend Chaos;Head and especially Chaos;Child as I believe it to be nearly as good as Steins;Gate. That being said, NEVER, EVER watch the anime adaptations for any Science Adventure novel other than Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0. They are very poorly made and will ruin an amazing experience for you that is the VN. Also like the video said, you should install the Committee of Zero patches for all of the games because the translation is very inconsistent.

    Sick! I don't think I've ever seen a video specifically talking about the VN before, rare algorithm W. Glad it's getting some love on RUclips, it really deserves it. Great timing too! I just started replaying the SciADV series after having finished the new entry: Anonymous;Code. I'm almost done with Chaos;Head NoAH and it's crazy how the reveals in A;C are telegraphed even as far back as (technically) the first entry! I'm sure I'll spot some more instances in Steins;Gate once I get to it. I don't know if you've read the rest of the series yet or ever plan on it, let alone intend to ever make videos on them- but i'll subscribe to find out! Regardless, solid video!

      Thanks so much for the kind comment! So glad you enjoyed watching my video and left a sub. Means the world to me! 😊 I have not played the other games in the series yet, but I have heard so much about it already from other people who commented on here that I decided to add them to my backlog. I'll get to it at some point, for sure!

    Great video! Never played the game, but i watched the anime. It was on of those shows that you really gotta watch twice, cause once your at the end and you realize what going on, the second veiwing literally feels like a diffefent perspective.
    Im not sure this game would fall in line with your content, But i would love to hear your opinion on some older games like zelda or something similar thats been around long enough to show evolution from then to now. Something like that would be cool!

      Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, too. ☺️💕 And oh yeah, for sure! Steins Gate is definitely something that doesn't really make sense at first. Though I feel like the original visual novel has a better sense of progression than the anime, but I'm sure that's only because it's hard to squeeze a 30+ hour game into just a number of episodes for a single season.
      That sounds like a fun video to do, actually! Thanks for the suggestion. ☺️ There's a lot to talk about when it comes to long time series like Zelda. Would be nice to discuss the history of progression of PSP consoles, too. 😁 We'll see! I might make a poll to see what everyone wants to watch from me next. Thanks again for the wonderful comment!

    I don't think the intent of S;G0 is to be a thematic sequel to the first VN.
    The original VN had what is in my mind, a sublime ending. And when you have a sublime ending, continuing the story from there on can only detract from it.
    An enormous point of tension in S;G is the question as to just how far Okabe is willing to go to reach his final goal and each alternate ending shows us a point where he hits his limit and isn't willing to continue any further. I see S;G0 in a similar light as the first game's alternate endings except that instead of showing us what happens when Okabe hits his limit like the first game does, it shows us rather what happens when he breaks in full. And in that regard, it does a superb job.

    Another key insight is the use of time travel to reshape the fundamental character arc.
    You need to move each character forward in arc and then convince them to go back to the start.
    Another major insight is that all/most of the characters are extremely empathetic in unique ways. It was the first time I saw successful class clown persona ( okaba faking his cheerful personality)

    Steins;Gate is one of my favorite anime/vn's of all time. The characters and their interactions, the time loop, the eerie feeling of discomfort I first got when they hacked into Sern and learned their secrets, seeing the different endings for the various worldlines. It's all amazing.
    Have you played any of the other games in the Science Adventure series? I played Chaos;Head a few years back and I remember it had a pretty interesting plot. There was a whole murder mystery thing going on mixed with strange changes in the main character's perception of reality. Unfortunately, the C;H anime adaptation was trash, and the characters weren't quite as good as in S;G. But I think it's pretty underrated.

      Absolutely! Couldn't agree more. Steins;Gate is on a whole nother' level of amazing. I was more than happy to make a video on it. :) And no, I haven't played the other games in the series! You've definitely piqued my curiosity though, and I would love to give them a shot now. 😁 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment!

    Good Video, personally I enjoyed 0 just as much as the original. However, I felt as though, it really felt like I was just listening to someone read an essay, I think having more of a varied structure would really benefit this kind of video. Looking forward to future videos.

    You should give Amagami PS2 a chance. Came out around the same time of steins:gate.
    I think VN's peaked on the PS2 and it's been a downhill ever since.
    There's a fan translation on cdromance.

    • @Dutchess5
      @Dutchess5  6 месяцев назад

      I never heard of Amagami, thanks so much for recommending it! 😄 Definitely can see your point though. Some of the most critically acclaimed visual novels seem to come from the 2000s up to early 2010s. Although there's been a few exceptions here and there, like Doki Doki Literature Club.

      Yep! Steins;Gate Elite is, I think an updated version of the game? Like with better visuals and stuff. Definitely worth looking into! If you do buy it and start playing, you gotta let me know what you think of it! ☺️ Thanks so much for watching my video!

    • @dallama2616
      @dallama2616 6 месяцев назад

      I heard that steins;gate elite is a lesser version of the VN. It splices scenes from the anime into the game in an attempt to make the experience more immersive but why not just watch the anime in that case? It also cuts certain content in the original VN.

    • @igseed
      @igseed 6 месяцев назад

      Elite is a remake of the 2009 VN using the anime's animation. I have played both, and while the 2009 original is certainly better, if you do not enjoy static images over a background and instead want actual animation, then Steins;Gate elite is better for you. Everyone hates on the remake but I doubt many have actually played it through. It does have a few cut scenes from the original, but it's still a full experience.
