Most of the stars get in controversies. Media and cameras cover almost every action of them. No one can live like a saint all the time. If we look our life we do alot of mistakes, alot of time we do or say that shouldn't be done and said but in our case there are only few who notice it. John Mayer may not be a perfect person in real life but his music is divine and perfect. He deserves respect for his good music. The way he uses guitar and lyrics is so divine and pure. He's a great artist.

you are totally right. i have turned some of my friends opinions of him around because he really does have a lot more going for him than some people are willing to realize because of radio hits like "daughters" (which mayer didn't even think should have been a single). he is immensely talented, and more importantly, is constantly reinventing himself. i'll always adore him.
Its amazing how John has grown up and matured musically. You can see him echoing himself during the video and can see how he just wants to let loose but hes just a little to conservative. Now we see him opening up and just being what he wants to be and it has worked out perfectly for him. Never hold back who you want to be.
No one is perfect, including artists. As a matter of fact, alot of artists are tortured souls that convey themselves through their music. If our lives were under a microscope, I'm quite sure we would not pass the test either. Leave him be and let him do what he does best...provide us with great entertainment, lyrics and music.

Well.I think he plays electric guitar way better than his acoustic guitar,His soul belongs to electric guitar,but acoustic guitar somehow made him popular.I would call it the "John mayer paradox" LOL
In my opinion, the majority of music listeners, including myself, just want something listenable, and John's music delivers just that. Guitar virtuosos are indeed amazing, however their music may not appeal to the masses.

it's one thing to shred. it's a complete different monster to compose a whole song, even if it is simple, and write lyrics that not only enhance and reflect the melody of the chords but describe EXACTLY what you're feeling. Then after all that, have the guts to throw it out there to the public and make yourself truly vulnerable. That is called art.

Ugh this songs reminds me so much of when my girlfriend broke up with me a few months ago, but we're back together now and stronger as ever so it makes me know that there are happy endings to everything!! :)
yeah it does, i agree. but john really looks up to dave matthews and thom yorke (radiohead) for their overall career, music, bands etc. and i think its obvious guitar wise who he takes after. (electrically that is)

John is a master of guitar in general tho..this is one of his simpler acoustic songs. There are so many harder songs ...
