I am a guitarist, and I was awake in the middle of the night thinking about how this piece would be great on piano. This proves that I was right! Fantastic performance, with just enough additions to make it properly pianistic. Bravo!
And why not transcribe it for the piano? It sounds just as good. An interesting transcription: nothing at all added to the first piece (where I have added a bass line in my own transcription; well, Mr Matarrita didn't respond to my request for a copy of his, so needs must), discreet additions to the second and quite extensive additions, and changes, to the third. Most, but not all, of them work, but why add a bar at the end to take the arpeggios up another octave? Surely not necessary. Thanks for posting!
Terceiro movimento... perfeito. Parabéns!
Also in the ethereal paraguayan harp (harp) like La Catedral is played by a paraguayan guitarist this classical music can also be composed with any instrument.

Very musical rendition. The piano, naturally, changes the character of the piece, and that's how it should be. The keyboard's greater sonority adds an impact not found in the guitar version, the latter of course benefitting from a greater lyrical intimacy and somewhat more color. The transcription was nicely discreet regarding changes to the original. On first hearing I didn't detect many.
Astute observations. Hard to compare, but after several hearings, I think I prefer this rendition to any on guitar that I've heard. (e.g Williams' version pales in comparison. And, of course, Segovia did not play the music of Barrios.)
I heard a bit of trouble (miniscule) on the 3rd mvmt. I play this on guitar. Guitar is hard in general. The ones that proclaim otherwise are hardcore optimists. This sounds so Beethoven/Chopinesque on the piano. Beautiful.

As a guitar builder from education (Royal Conservatory) and a piano tuner (my work) i totally agree with you. The musical timbre of a piano is totally different than that of a guitar. I like La Catedral on both instruments, but they just bring their own feelings. You can't change the musical timbre of an instrument. I personally feel the piano version as 'softer and warmer' than the piano renditions, whereas i feel the guitar versions more 'to the point' and 'brighter'. Definately has to do with the way of agitating the strings: plucked against hammered. Listen to the version on harpsichord (here on RUclips) and you will hear it's more 'direct' and 'sharp'!

What a thrill to hear this on the piano! Odd that the greeting clap was louder than the ending applause, as it was beautifully played. As a less than 2 year veteran of the classical guitar and 60 year veteran of the piano, I'm going to have to learn this piece on the piano. The allegro on piano was a bit tepid, but that may just highlight the difference between the instruments, with the natural intonation of the guitar being far superior for this movement.
Hola Manuel. Felicitaciones!

What a beautiful arrangement! One of my favourite guitar pieces has now become one of my favourite piano pieces as well!
Wonderful performance, I didn't like the ending though, everything else was great.
Ivan matatool Well, actually the emding is almost the same, not much different .
Who said he wasnt'?
This piece on piano vs guitar? I'm not sure which I like better
Orgullo.
for a moment i thought that it was written for piano more than for guitar
Lovely! How rich those low bass notes sound! I wonder if the piece is playable on concert harp?
So now music is being transcribed from guitar to piano?!
writereducator well, if it makes as much sense, as it does with this beautiflu piece, why not? Although I still prefer the guitar version.
Agustin BArrios, Nitsuga Mangore, this piano version make me cry. From Paraguay to the World
Mangore is the Chopin of Latin America. A musical genius.
Probably, "the Chopin of the guitar" :-)
Chopin actually said 'save for a few things, guitar is the most beautiful thing in the world' :)
He and Villa-lobos.
Now I'm waiting to see a version for a full philharmonic orchestra. Such a monumental work of music.
Definitely a different take on "La Catedral." It is such a great piece that it sounds just as beautiful on piano.
Correcto
Es Paraguayo!
quien sabe
It sounds like a guitar!!!!
The best interpretation I have ever seen.
Hola Manuel. Felicitaciones!
Do you have HD version of this?
