  • “There are few truly creative people in the fashion world who, through their spirit, their creative joy and their personalities, really give fashion what it needs - some inventive madness.”
    - Anna Wintour on Galliano
    Revered as the great fantasist of late 20th and early 21st century fashion, John Galliano’s romantic, escapist vision had a tremendous influence on fashion.
    He combined technical excellence with historical, romantic and even theatrical touches which made him the King of Haute Couture.
    A man always hungry for knowledge, whether for inspiration or to reinvent, from his first degree show in 1984 to Maison Margiela, via the highlights of his career at Dior, Galliano has always pushed himself further and further.
    Galliano is a showman, a maestro, a revolutionary.
    The prodigal son of fashion, Love him or hate him, Galliano is one of Fashion’s true visionaries!
    A huge thank you to ‪@FashionRoadman‬ for all your encouragement and support.

    Galliano is the reason why I love the art of Haute Couture. He was and still is the true successor of Christian Dior.

    He truly was a "one of" and his designs were Opulent !!!
    What a shame he was knocked off the scene with his terrible behaviour at the cafe but , like you - I think he should have a second chance now ..... I just hope he has learnt to think and act in this world today. with respect and kindness.
    As I have said before ... just love your channel !!!

    Another great episode Scott! His fashion was so theatrical but within that was some truly amazing design, I had to watch it multiple times and pause it to get there. Thanks again for the lesson and the entertainment.👏👍

    Great video yet again. I love your fav show bits at the end, It gives the video space to exude in everything that's been said in the earlier historical narration. It's interesting how back in the 80s/90s Galliano and others were free to borrow freely from world cultures, but that would be deemed cultural appropriation nowadays, .. sadly.
    I loved Dior Galliano but never saw the (commercial) sense of the wildest moments/shows whilst still enjoying the whole exuberance of it all. His recent Margiela done with the foil of Martin's ouvre is some of the most creative work out there today I think, It is stunning.

    • @Fashionand
      @Fashionand  3 года назад +1

      Indeed! It is considered Cultural appropriation nowadays! I still stand by the fact that I believe him to be one of the most talented designers alive! His work for Margiela is amazing and the brand is unexpectedly his perfect fit!

    The surface is always the least interesting part of his work, if you’re even slightly interested in making clothing, they’re fascinating, and I challenge his critics to replicate his work before they condemn it….
