I also purchased two of the SKULLCANDY BARREL XT for only $79.00 each from Walmart for the early BLACK FRIDAY SALE. That's only $158.00 total and if you link them together they sound absolutely amazing.
I could of got mine offline but I was so impatient that I got mine yesterday traveled a hour and 20 mins all back roads of central Florida. Because the Walmart I went to was the only one that had it in the store. The closest Walmart to me is 20 miles and they don't carry it in there. All they had was the JBL flip 6 for 89.00 dollars and that was small. I was like who would want that when you can pay 79.00 and taxes for the skullcandy barrel boombox you know.
I have two of these. I took one to the back patio yesterday. It started malfunctioning, it was all bass , all i could hear was bass. I restarted it and it fixed the problem a couple times but now restarting doesn't help. Just a few hours of use. Sounds good but apparently they don't last.
You'd probably have to go to a local battery repair store. I think, assuming you're in America, battery+bulb can make a replacement. Might need to bring them the original pack tho
Great review! I mean seriously. I have watched so many and not one person talked about how loud it is when you turn it on and off. And like when you turn the volume all the way down it beeps really loud. I like it. It's just not for at night unless a person wants it blaring through the house as it comes on and goes off. I am guessing skullcandy they must be deaf. I love my loud music but I don't want it screaming at me when I turn it on and off. But yeah this is the review video I feel everyone who wants to know about the skullcandy boombox should watch. Again great job.
I got a pillow that I use to cover it when I turn it off and on at night lol it don’t work well bet it’s definitely makes it so it don’t wake everybody up
@Levi_Thomas lol never thought of that Thanks. I just wonder what was they thinking when they added the voice in like when there telling everyone in the rockcandy company like hey let's add this extremely loud annoying voice lol. People will love that. Lol you know.
Even for 200 it's worth the price you trippin I've owned the Xtreme1, 2 and 3 JBL boombox 1 and 2 and this speaker doesn't sound AS good as the boombox BUT it definitely blowing the Xtreme 3 out the water and it's 200 dollars cheaper and almost free dam near at 79 bucks right now it sound like you gotta personal issue with skull candy
It's worth $79 but not $200. This thing hisses like crazy when no music is playing and the treble is very grainy. I'd say it's worth ~$130 at most considering its sound and build quality.
I hear the hissing but unless your ear is RIGHT next to the speaker you won't hear it and even if you do hear it who cares ? If you told me I could only own 1 speaker for the rest of my life and id have to choose between the JBL charge 5 witch is 180 and the skull candy also 180 you HAVE to pick the skull candy it's bass ALONE can get you a noise complaint
@@687donny get a rockville sonic xxl (xdobo beast 1982) then. It's $115 so costs only a bit more, sounds better in my opinion, and no hiss. Either way, if it works out for you, it's a great speaker, and for $79 the skullcandy is pretty decent.
Mine doesn't hiss at ALL. I don't know what's wrong with y'all's. I bought 2 but I had to take one back because it started playing real quiet hardly any volume. I kept my other one and I've had no problem out of it at all

That said I still included a soundtest. That should give you a good idea of how it sounds. If you're still not satisfied, go watch something else then 😒.
The JBL BB3 hits some hard bass and at $350 right now, it's a good deal. In the same size category, I was able to score a used Diamondboxx M3 for about $300 and the sound quality out of that is great but is missing some deep bass. Out on the boat in the middle of Lake Erie though, it sounds as good as you can get from a 12 lbs speaker.
@@jackoff1826 to me it should be between 200-250 at most 350 for something without enough watts is yet to much money specially during this times for 500-1000 dollars you can get something with ton of watts volume and bass
@@jackoff1826nope. Heard the bb3. Sounds very processed and weird like some bang olufsen speaker. That said, if you liked it, you would also like the $175 tribit blast.
@@speakerblowupmanlee5921I have 3 BB2's and 2 BB3's. Initially I was put off by the first reviewers stating it's sound quality. It needed a firmwear update upon it's release, right out the box. So for a company like JBL to go ahead and release a speaker that was flawed to start with, and a release in America which was already delayed by 2 or 3 months, there was high disappointment from me as well before I had one. I figured that I'd just stay with the BB2's. Then I got a BB3 used at a steal of a price from a kid that got it as a present and needed to sell it for some money for a trip he was about to go on. I asked him about if he had the firmware update done to it and he had no clue about what I was talking about. The firmware update asks for the update automatically when you download the JBL app for the speaker and it's pretty quick too. Once it's done, the speaker sounds good. The amazing thing is how much bass you get from it. Like the BB2 has nice bass and you get slight chest feel from the bass, but the BB3 is full on feel it in the chest. So the sound quality is fine after the update. I've heard the Tribit Blast might use the same JBL speakers as the BB2, which makes it fairly close in sound, just not as good as the BB2 though. I would say that the BB3 is worth about $100-$150 more than the BB2 and in this size speaker range, the Boombox3 is the standard to compare all others to. But for total sound quality, the Diamondboxx M3 is great, has really good punch bass, gets really good and loud and stays clear throughout all volumes. I also have the W-King T9's and picked up a couple of these Skullcandy Barrel XT's. Features I do appreciate about the XT, it has a light feature, connection loops for a strap, it's only 12lbs, shows the battery power available, shows volume level when changing it. For $80, it's a steal. At the $170 as it's full price, I'd rather have a T-11 or even the T-9 from W-King. The XT might be similar looking to the JBL Boombox's, but for sound, sound quality, volume, bass, and build quality, it's JBL all day. Perhaps the XT sounds somewhat close to the Original JBL Boombox? Which the Boombox2 was a good size improvement over that model, and the great thing about the Boombox3 is bass expanding over the entire volume range, which the BB2 stops bass gains at about the 70-75% volume.

- Highs = 8/10
- Mids = 8/10
