I really enjoyed this lesson. No surprise! I haven't watched a disappointing lesson, yet.
One of my favorite songs by Robert Plant is, BIG LOG.
I worked on THAT song shortly after it came out.
To impress a girl, of course. She eventually ran off with a Bass player from another band. Not long after that, she ran off with someone else. BEST of luck to her. I probably dodged a bullet, there. 😂
Do you think you might work out some Rory Gallagher in the future?
I'm enjoying the lessons and intend to join the Patreon next month. Have a GREAT week and Thank You again.

My first proper ticketed gig was to see Robert Plant on the Now and Zen tour, at Hanley Victoria Hall in Stoke! 1988 I'm thinking. Now and Zen was when Percy started to acknowledge his Zep back catalogue, having studiously avoided it for 8 years. Great album, great band. Always liked Doug Boyle's playing.

Oh wow, I know the place! That’s so cool.
Interesting that you say it’s the first time he acknowledged and embraced his Zeppelin years as an independent artist. I feel like I’m very much in the same place musically. I left a band, maybe seven years ago now, and finally feel like I can use the skills I acquired from that style of music and incorporate it with what I want to do next. It’s just a part of me now.

As a college student living in London in 1991 (semester abroad program) I was fortunate to see Plant live at the Town and Country Club for Manic Nirvana Tour. I was close to the stage, for a few Zeppelin Covers it was magical, closing my eyes, thinking this may be the closest I’d get to hearing Led Zeppelin live. In particular I remember Going to California, and Ship of Fools which might have been the final song in the set. Thanks for sharing this one Sped! Happy Holidays!

      Good call Scott...
Yea, I don't think Robbie Blunt gets as much credit as he deserves for how much his playing was heard by the "general public" and guitar players specifically, cause we were all interested in why Plant's song sounded close to Zep, but just enough different for everyone...
Robbie DEFINITELY had the cleanest tone, and therefore playing technique to be that "naked" in the mix, other than Knopfler during that time...almost the sonic definition of "notes of glass"...just saying...🎸👍😎

So, not this slinger, but another great one, who got slagged for not being Pagey, was Robbie Blunt! Saw Plant on the Principle of Moments tour, and it was just so cool. Plant opened with I'm In the Mood, and a fan tossed a rather longish scarf upon the stage toward Percy. And man what a toss!. It unfurled just so... and Robert stepped right into the throw and the scarf landed around his neck as though he'd placed the thing there as the finishing dapper accessory.

I've recently gotten to know your channel.
I wish I had a guitar teacher back in my day who would have taught me the way you teach. Thanks for the good stuff you teach people for free! That's what's cool ,.. your not charging for your work like the guitar teachers I used to pay.
Back before I knew how to really play , I had to pay 25 an hour to learn Zeppelin songs( and this was back in the 80s )
I Know you don't take requests by comments , Im just taking a shot and reaching out to you the only way I know how.
I can't find anyone that can play " Fool in the rain" by Zeppelin the proper way. I myself can't make it sound correct. I realize Page is mixing and doing other things that might create the sound of the chords, but " Fool in the Rain" is a song that you would think wouldn't be to difficult.
Its cool because with the drums and rythem underneath, you can solo having a lot of fun with this song .
I was curious only about the first opening chords to the song ( That is what seems to be the difficult part ) It just doesn't sound right. I have heard a few version and there is no alternate tuning as well.
Anyway I apologize for the long message.I was hoping you could point me in the right direction.Have you done this Zeppelin song before on the channel? Could you show us how to play it right,or make it sound right?
    Thank you.
    Sincerely, Joey.

Well for a start you appear to be an uber-spedmeister.
    .
For me, it was 'Now & Zen', 'Manic Nirvana' and 'Fate of Nations' that were the quintessential Bob Plant solo albums; They were kind of where Zep would have gone, had not the tragic events of 1980 occured. Some of Doug's guitar sounds *more* Pagey, than Page... (...and to me, Page is GOD... Well one of them - In the realm of chordophonia, I believe in a polytheistic pantheon).
Robbie Blunt was cool, but there was something about the chemistry between Doug Boyle and Phil Johnstone (RIP) that, along with Bob Plant's inimitable vocal prescence made those three albums stand-out above all others. However, it is the latter - Fate of Nations that is the perfect Plant album. With the smooth smokey guitar of the late Kevin MacMichael drifting us through the soundscape of that consummate album and remains one of my most favoured albums of all time.
Top solo from FoN ? Greatest Gift and Great Spirit for sure.
Here is the debut of 'Now and Zen' live at Madison Square Gdns in 1988 [Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary]
